forty-three
Soulmates aren't a burden.
They are the person who understands you, without any words said. The person whom you feel safe with. The person who you feel safe enough with to be who you are, without needing to hide anything.
Finding your soulmate is a blessing. Finding your soulmate as early as you did was near a wonder.
But it didn't work out the way the soulmate bond is supposed to so... maybe there is a reason why people usually don't find their soulmates in their childhood days.
The bond changed you, but mainly Jungkook a lot. He would've never done these things without knowing you. He would've never beaten up this guy, would've never proposed to a woman he didn't love and would've never broken the heart of the woman he did love.
All these tiring thoughts circled around your mind, yet you laid there in your bed, wide awake.
You weren't able to rest, because after this day you had realized one - no, actually two things.
You loved Jungkook. Still and you wouldn't, no, couldn't stop doing so, as cheesy as it may sound.
But the wounds his actions had left were still too fresh to just be forgotten.
You felt so conflicted. Everyone always told you to take care of your own happiness, but what were you suppose to do now?
You couldn't stop wanting to be around Jungkook, not after having him back after three long years, but you couldn't just go back to your thoughtless relationship with him either.
Thinking of what he did to you as person was still making you so angry, but then pictures of his smile after he kissed you, or his laughter when joking with you flashed through your mind and all you felt was loneliness because he wasn't there.
You shuffled around in your bed, sucking in a deep breath.
You did make a decision. Jungkook probably wouldn't like it, but you forced yourself to not care about this.
You had made your choice.

Slight fog had flooded the park and your breath condensed in the cold air. You shivered as you walked down the muddy path, not meeting any people as it was too early for them to go outside on a Sunday morning.
Jungkook agreed to meet you for a walk along Han River, seemingly not caring about these early hours.
He was author after all and could pretty much not care about normal people's sleep rhythm.
A bright smile appeared on his features when he spotted you and you walked up to the cherry head, letting him greet you with a soft kiss on your forehead.
"You wanted to talk princess?"
You nodded, "Right."
You two began to stroll down the river, the only person you met on your way being an old man with his dog.
Jungkook had his hand buried in the pockets of his dark coat, his eyes looking at a point somewhere in front of him absently. He waited till you were ready to talk patiently, not commenting on your heavy silence and you were thankful for that.
"So, Jungkook...", you began, "Since you took me to this date on the meadow, I felt like you wanted me to forgive and go back together with you as quick as possible-"
He snorted quietly.
"I don't know what you want Jeon. But I know that I can't just... go back to where we ended things. So, I want you to know that I don't want to go back together with you, because I don't think that I'll be able to forgive you for what you did to me. And Sera. And Eunha. I want to spent time with you, just not like we used to. I want to try and be friends with you but nothing more."
You looked up at his face... and were pretty much stunned. There wasn't the expression of disappointment you expected, but something that looked like... pride?
He lifted his hand to caress your head gently, this weird expression not leaving his face, "I'm glad princess, I really am. Going back as fast as possible with you? That was never my intention. I want to fix the damage I caused. I want you to be happy."
You nodded and felt a strange wave of relief hit you.
It was as if all the tension you had felt between you had disappeared.
Jungkook didn't expect anything from you. He was just there, wanting you to feel content again, just like now when he walked next to you silently, letting you deal with all your emotions on your own way, patiently waiting for your next step.
You couldn't forgive him for what he did, but who said you needed to? You couldn't be happy without your soulmate, but who said you needed to be in a fucking relationship with him. Staying friends couldn't be so hard, right?
You chewed on the inside of your cheek, before looking up at him, flashing him a cheeky grin, "So what if I introduce you to Felix?"
He chuckled, "Whatever you want to do princess."
Then he added, "I just can't promise that this will end good."

Edit: I saw people getting frustrated over her choice of 'staying friends', so here's an explanation that'll hopefully make her decision clearer:
He miss treated her for three years by abandoning her without an explanation and although he proved his maturity, his actions did leave scars that prevent he from forgetting what she went through because of him. No one can expect her to forget about all of this and go back together with him like three years ago. It'll take some time for her scars to fade, but she knows he'll be there for her when the time has come.
Love y'all
