39| Boo
What...
I called his name and searched for him in the room, but he was nowhere. My eyes widened and my head spun toward his sleeping form.
There is no f**king way it could be this easy?!
"Fin..." I placed my hand on his chest and leaned toward him. "Can you hear me? Did it work?" I waited for him to respond, but nothing happened.
This is madness.
It couldn't have worked like that... It couldn't be this easy. Just a kiss and-
"Boo."
My heart leaped from my chest in my throat and jerked on the bed so hard that poor Finlay's body shook. But I shouldn't call him that.
I glared at the cheeky ghost who was laughing his a** off on the floor with no care in the world.
"Finlay!" I scolded. "F**k you! I almost died from a heart attack!" Placing a hand on my furiously beating heart and I shot laser beams at him.
"But... But it was hilarious!"
"A**hole!" I picked up the pillow and threw it at him, a weak attempt to hit him but failed as the pillow passed him. "If you weren't already a ghost, I would have made you into one!" I growled, crossing my arms around my chest.
My body was still vibrating from... Either from the kiss or his stupid stunt.
"Sorry..." His laugh slowed down, but he still had a Cheshire grin on his face. "I couldn't help myself."
"I was trying to save your life and here you're trying to take mine."
"You won't die that easily." He chuckled as he got up.
"You'll never know bawbag." He raised his brows at that and I shrugged. "I know what it means. That's why I said it."
"Fine... I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that." He pouted like a cute little puppy. "Forgive me."
My eyes involuntarily darted to his lips. There I something about it when he rolls his 'r' like that.
"Whatever." I shook my head. "You should be glad I didn't scream or else your whole family would have been here."
"Actually. I'm sad you didn't." He pressed his lips, trying to hide his grin, but failed.
"Why?" I squinted my eyes at him.
"Because if you did, my family would know even in my sleep I could make you scream."
My eyes bugged out of my sockets when I processed what he was implying. I had no idea when and how we become flirty with each other. On one side, it made me giddy and on the other, it anger me because all we could do was talk.
"I bet you're not that good," I mumbled, pulling the duvet over my burning face. I could feel my body getting wobbly and was glad I was already sitting, or else would have fallen at his feet.
"We'll see about that." He smirked, getting up from the floor, and I rolled my eyes.
Hope so.
"Anyway... The kiss didn't work." I cleared my throat and look at the innocent Finlay.
I thought Finlay might be disappointed about it. Instead, he just shrugged and gave me a lopsided grin.
"It was worth a shot," I growled at him.
Cheeky ghost!

The birds' chirping sounds came to my ears as I rolled to my side. My eyes were still shut but could feel the strong brightness of the sun from the window. Groaning, I pulled the duvet over my head to block the light and snuggle close to the warm pillow.
My brows furrowed when I felt something hard under my face. I nudged my head to find the soft spot and froze when I felt it move.
What the...
Slowly opening my eyes, I focused my vision, and they bugged out when I discovered what it was- or should I say who it was.
Finlay.
My cheek was rested on a muscular arm and I tucked one hand under the pillow while the other was on his chest. Feeling a gaze on me, I cautiously angled my neck up to see his eyes closed. A sigh of relief left my lips, but I flinched when I realized who was watching me.
Licking my dry lips, I took my hand off his chest and peeked at the sofa beside the window. As I suspected, Finlay was sprawled on it and watching me intensely with a smirk on his face.
"Morning."
Clearing my throat, I sat on the bed and scooted away from his body.
"Morning," I murmured, tucking my hair behind my ear.
This is awkward.
"Someone had a good sleep." I squeezed my eyes at his teasing voice.
I knew this was coming.
"Actually... I did." I tried to play it cool, but deep down I was drowning in embarrassment. "Surprised to know you're a fine cuddler." I mocked, but Finlay had other things on his mind.
"Aren't I?" He dropped his head to his side and gave me an innocent yet evil look. "We can do it every night."
F**k.
Me.
"Uh... You're not that good." I wanted to slap myself for not having satisfactory combat.
"Considering I watched you snoring peacefully all night. I bet my odds." He gave me a cheeky grin. I opened my mouth, but nothing came out and my face burned.
"Whatever," I mumbled, and hopped out of the bed. "Did... Uh... Anyone came while I was sleeping?"
I didn't lock the door and I would die if someone came to check on me and saw me snuggling with a dude in a coma.
"Don't worry Amber. No one saw anything...." Finlay winked. "Except me."
"W-" I cleared my throat as my voice cracked. "What I meant to ask was if the hoodie guy came?"
"Oh..." His face turned serious, and I was glad his attention got diverted. "Naw, he didn't."
After Finlay's stupid prank last night. I told him I was sleepy and lay in bed again. It was a lie since all I could think about was his lips and didn't realize when I dozed off dreaming of him.
"Looks like we scared him." I proudly said, walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?"
"To my room," I answered, grabbing the knob. "I need to change for breakfast."
It was around nine on Sunday morning, and I didn't know when everyone woke up for breakfast. I didn't want to miss it like yesterday, so I hurried towards the guest room with Finlay's guidance and freshen up.

I heard a lot of voices coming from the dining room when I reached it. Mr. Butler came out when I was about to enter and greeted me.
"Morning Mr. Butler. Am I late?"
"You're on time, Miss Katz." He said with a blank face and walked past me.
"I swear the guy always kept a straight serious face," I whispered to Finlay next to me.
I have seen no expressions on his face except that bored look.
"He's a copy of Alfred Pennyworth," Finlay said, making me giggle.
"Good Morning," I mumbled, skimming my eyes around the table and focusing on Dolina sitting at the head.
Everyone greeted me back, and I walked to her.
"Mornin' darlin'. How did ye sleep?"
"Like a baby." Finlay chuckled, and I pressed my lips together in a tight smile.
"It was alright," I answered, making Dolina beam and Finlay snort.
"Good. Now I'd like to introduce you to Fergus." She said and my body went stiff.
Even Finlay, beside me, flinched at his name.
I knew I was going to see him today and thought of preparing myself, but it was too early in the morning.
"Fergus..." She smiled and looked ahead of her. "This is Amber. Finlay's fiancée."
Wait...
He's here...
As in right now!
Swallowing hard, I peeked at Finlay, who was standing behind Dolina. He had his eyes straight ahead of him and his face was pale. Taking a deep breath, I followed his gaze and saw Fergus sitting on the other head of the table.
He's been here all this time...
Why didn't I notice him before?!
"It's nice to meet you, Amber."
