36| Tour
"Nothing Neil." I cleared my throat. "Why are you here? For a fact, I know you don't want to have a brother-and-sister-in-law chat with me because you hate me."
"Ah dinnae hate ye." he sighed. "Apologies, if ah gave ye that impression last night, but ah was surprised to ken that Finlay has a fiancée because, like ah said. He never mentioned ye to meh."
"It wasn't like you two talked every day." I scoffed.
"Once every month." He gave me a blank stare.
Gulping under his intense stare, I sat straight. I wasn't sure if he was lying or not because... I side-glanced at Finlay, who was quietly observing his brother... We know nothing about their relationship.
"Finlay mentioned you came to his office," I said, trying to divert his skepticism. "About a month ago."
"Ah thought ye said he never mentioned meh." He arched his sharp brow.
"You need to be careful with your words around him, Amber," Finlay murmured beside me. "He is not stupid like the rest."
"I didn't mean it literally." I gave him my sweetest smile. "So?"
"Ye must already ken whit happened then." He crossed his arms and leaned back in the chair, and Finlay chuckled at that.
F**k arrogant a**holes brothers.
Neil will not be easy for me.
"Finlay was stressed, so I didn't push him." I played the supportive fiancée role.
"How sweet of you, my love." Finlay grinned and heat rushed towards my cheek at the word he used, but I tried to concentrate on the guy in front of me.
"What did you do that made him so depressed, Neil?" He pressed his lips together. "Was it about the business?" I added, and the surprised look on his face answered it all.
He blew a deep breath, and I was ready to argue, knowing he would lie-
"Fine. Ah did."
Wait... What?
"Ah turned twenty-five two months ago an' thought the business was going tae be in mah name, but mah grandpa's lawyer told us he gae the business to Finlay. Honestly, ah was shocked like the other family members, but mah faether ken about it. Instead of managing the business like mah faether, ah compelled Finlay to com' back home an' get whit belongs to him." I blinked my eyes and wasn't sure if I was hearing it correctly.
I knew the story, but coming from his mouth meant... He's telling the truth.
"Ah ken it was a waste of time to push him on the phone. Ah flew to New York, but he went frantic an' tore the papers, saying ah can shove it up mah ar*e for all he cares."
"If he doesn't want it, he can give it to you," I said as a matter of fact.
"Ah don't want it." My brows shot up.
"Why?" Finlay and I said simultaneously, but he obviously didn't hear Finlay.
"Because... Well, it's a long story." He got up from the seat and adjusted his shirt. "Ah'll tell ye some other time. For now, we need to get going."
"Where?" My inside itched with curiosity and the thought of picking up the butter knife and choking on his neck until he spills the tea crossed my mind but I knew I couldn't force him.
"Granny asked me to give ye a tour of the city." He shrugged his shoulders. "To get yer mind to loosen up."
"I'm relaxed," I grumbled.
Why does everyone think I'm anxious?
"Then ye don't want the tour?" He raised his brows, and I side-glanced at Finlay.
"I don't think we need it. We won't be staying here for forever," Finlay said and was about to lay again but halted when I said.
"Of course, I want to."
"Amber?!" Finlay shrieked, but I kept my eyes on Neil.
"I just need to change."
"Awright." He grinned and nodded his head. "Ah'll wait for ye at the gates."
"I won't take long." I smiled and walked with him towards the castle and parted ways at the gate.
"What is wrong with you?" Finlay's gaze burned holes in the back of my head as I rushed towards the guest room.
"We need to spend time with him," I mumbled lowly, not wanting to get caught again, and looked around the hallway for my room.
"It's that way." Finlay pointed, and I strode with him. "And why?"
"Because out of everyone in this house, he knows you more."
"You seriously believed what he said?"
"He seemed sincere." I opened the door to my room and went to my suitcase. "Tell me, Fin, did he look like he was lying?" Finlay averted his gaze and crossed his arms. "Exactly."
"What if he's the hoodie guy?"
"He is not." When we were walking together, I compared our heights and the guy I lurched on last night was a lot taller than him.
"He could have hired someone else." Finlay pointed.
"True." I picked my Black top with the same color leggings and boots and a grey jacket. "And that's why we need this to know him and you. Don't you want to know more about yourself and your relationship with your family?"
"I do." He sighed.
"Then what's the problem?" I halted before going into the en suite and my lips stretched into a huge grin. "Don't tell me it's because you are jealous?"
"Jealous? Of my brother?" He scoffed. "No way." The way his ears became red said something else.
"Don't worry Fin. I have zero interest in Neil." I winked at him. "One brother is enough for me." I burst into a laugh when Finlay's entire face blow into the red. One perfect word that could describe this scene would be...
Epic!

Edinburg is an exquisite place. On our way towards the city, I saw amazing huge dream castles, each drool-worthy, and the lavish greenery. I was still dazed when we entered the city with ancient structures and houses smaller than the castles but stunning in their way.
Neil took me to the famous National Museum, Gallery of Modern Art, Calton Hill. I wasn't into history, but the places were astonishing. There were also posters of a National Whiskey festival all over the city. Turns out Whiskey is a big deal in Scotland and they held a festival every year in Edinburg.
Famous whiskey companies compete with their unique flavors at this event, and at the end of the evening, a winner is announced who gets an award. The festival also includes music concerts, performances by well-known Celtic artists, award-winning mixlogy from local bartenders, and intriguing cuisine pop-ups.
"The festival is tomor'row." He said, stopping his sleek black Audi in front of an ice cream parlor.
"Tomorrow?" I was about to open the door, but he stopped me.
I watched as he got around the car and held the door for me. Thanking him, I got out and peeked at Finlay in the back seat, who had a scowl on his face.
"Is your family taking part in it?" I tried to hide my grin as we walked into the tiny parlor.
"Aye." He grinned. "We do it every year. Some years we hae won too."
"That's amazing." I whistled, looking at the flavors on the menu.
Neil insisted on having lunch, but since I just had my breakfast, we settled for ice cream. He told me he'll take me to his favorite place, and I was expecting a hot shot restaurant, not a cute, cozy parlor with a few seats and a counter filled with different flavors of ice cream.
"We lost last year. Faether is workin' hard to win it this time." He said, ringing the bell.
"But he's in Australia." I frowned.
"For business." He nodded. "He'll be 'ere tomor'row."
My shoulders went stiff at the new information and I glimpsed Finlay wide-eyed. He looked pale like he had seen a ghost, which was ironic since he was the ghost here.
Fergus... Is coming.
