Lapidot One-Shot: Human AU
A young woman wandered the streets, her blue hair blowing in the wind, looking at the ground. She wore a long sweater, but underneath her covering, bruises lay. Dark, black and blue bruises scattered her arms and legs. Her face was the only place bruise-free, and she could wander, feeling beautiful. No one stared at her. Jasper wasn't here.
She looked up, seeing that she had wandered back to her apartment she shared with Jasper. She shivered, knowing Jasper was probably up there, waiting for her. She stepped in the building, slowly walking up the stairs, her steps echoing through the open hallway. She bit her lip nervously, reaching in her pocket, her hand shaking. She grabbed out her apartment keys, shoving them in the key-hole, slowly turning the key to the left, her hand trembling.
A tear slipped from her eye as she opened the door, wiping her hand underneath it, her eyes sunken and dull, all hope gone from them.
"I'm home, Jasper." She called, her voice hoarse and weary. No response came. "Jasper? Where are you?"
Suddenly, a large figure appeared in the hallway, wearing a rolled up flannel shirt and a pair of jeans, her muscles bulging. She smiled maniacally, walking over, towering over the young woman.
"Glad to see that you came home, Lapis. I was starting to think you wouldn't." She grumbled, walking forward, shoving her against the door.
"I-I... I was just taking a walk. I'm sorry, Jasper." Lapis whispered, her eyes wide with fear.
"You twerp! Come here." She shouted, grabbing Lapis' arm, dragging the much smaller female into the living room, where a pile of empty beer bottles lay, their lids littering the floor. "Clean it up, Lapis. It'll help us all. My colleague, Peridot is coming over tonight. You better be ready."
"I-I will be, Jasper." She stuttered, running to the kitchen, grabbing a trash bag.
She shook it out, bringing it to the living room, grabbing and gently placing the empty bottles in the large bag. She rubbed her shoulder where Jasper had shoved her to the wall, crying silently. She wanted to give up. But she couldn't. She had to help Jasper. Jasper loved her, and she loved Jasper, right?
The last clink sound was heard as she put the bottle in the bag, wiping her eyes with her large sweater. She tied up the bag, bringing it to the pantry, where several bags filled with the same thing were stacked, their contents taking up more than just mass.
"Hey, twerp, come here!" Jasper shouted, causing Lapis to flinch. "I want to show you something!"
Lapis ran to her girlfriend, her eyes teary still. She stopped in the doorway, leaning against it, holding her bruised leg up.
"Yes, sweetie?" She whispered, looking at Jasper dressed in a nice suit.
"Put on your dress. You have to look nice for Peridot."
"I will, Jasper..." She whispered, stepping into their shared room, her closet in the corner.
She walked over to it, pulling out her sleeveless, blue dress and her matching long-sleeved sweater. She grabbed a pair of leggings, quickly changing out of her dirty clothes. Jasper looked over, steeping toward her girlfriend.
"You look nice." Jasper commented, her eyes moving up and down her mostly naked body. "Almost nice enough to kiss. But not quite."
Lapis sighed, grabbing her blue dress, forcing the worn fabric over her small body, pulling on her leggings, pulling her sweater over her bruised shoulders. It was hot, but she didn't care. Anything to hide what Jasper had done to her. She couldn't let Peridot know, or Jasper would hit her...
She put on a fake smile, hearing a knock at the door. She walked up to it, pulling her blue-dyed hair into a ponytail, opening it.
"Nice to meet you. You must be Peridot. I'm Lapis." She greeted rather brightly, holding her hand out. "Jasper is excited to see you."
"I see..." Peridot observed, looking up and down Lapis' thin form. "Not to meet you as well."
Lapis was quite taken aback by her, and didn't notice when Peridot gave her her coat, patting her on the shoulder. She winced, rubbing her shoulder. She hung up Peridot's coat, walking to the table, pulling out a chair.
"Sit here, please." She whispered, looking down, her cheeks turning a slight shade of red. "I'll get dinner momentarily."
Lapis walked into the kitchen, the spaghetti she had prepared earlier warm on the stove. She moved it into a nice bowl. She could hear as Jasper entered the living room, her loud voice greeting Peridot. Lapis flinched at her shouting, but sighed, taking out the pasta.
"Here is dinner." She whispered, looking down. "I hope you enjoy."
Lapis sat down next to Jasper, looking in awe at Peridot , her green hair pulled up in a high ponytail. She was accounting her story of how she captured a whole gang.
"...and so I walked up to them, my gun in hand, and I said: 'Hey, you clods! Come here! Miss Diamond will be happy to see you!' And I grabbed them all, and took them in! I'm amazing, I know!" She laughed, taking some of the spaghetti, placing it on her plate. "Hey, thanks, Lapis!"
"Y-you're welcome..." Lapis whispered, blushing slightly. "Jasper, would you like some?"
"I would!" Jasper boomed, reaching across, causing Lapis to flinch back. "Thanks for preparing this meal, Lapis."
"Of course, dear..." She whispered. "It was my pleasure."
Peridot looked at the two strangely, having noticed how Lapis had flinched back. Lapis nearly cursed, but kept her mouth shut, her eyes wide.
"Jasper, could you grab me a drink?" Peridot asked. "Please?"
"Um, sure?" Jasper replied, her answer sounding more like a question. The ginger stood up, walking into the kitchen.
"Are you okay, Lapis?" Peridot asked. "I mean, you seem kind of scared. Why?"
"No reason. I'm fine." She lied, trying to sound normal as possible.
"You're not fine. I know that. Show me your arms."
"No! I won't. I don't want to."
Peridot stood up, reaching across the table, managing to snag one of her fingers in Lapis' sweater, pulling down the sleeve, revealing the several bruises that covered her left arm, some black, some yellow.
"Lapis! You're not okay! You need to see a professional! Trust me."
"No! I'm fine!" Lapis shouted, standing up. "I don't need to see anyone. Now stop accusing my girlfriend of abusing me!"
Jasper walked in right at that moment, a beer in her hand. She glared toward Peridot, slamming the bottle on the table.
"What did you call me?" She practically growled, clenching her fists.
"N-nothing, Jasper!" Peridot stuttered. "I better get going!"
"You're not going anywhere!"
Jasper swung her arm back, preparing to hit Peridot. Just as she moved her arm forward, Lapis jumped in front.
"No! I won't let you hurt her!" She shouted, taking a blow to the head.
"You're stupid, Lapis! I always knew you were!" Jasper shouted. "Leave! Now!"
Lapis was a bit dazed, her head throbbing. Her heartbeat pounded against her skull, and she nearly collapsed, but Peridot grabbed her and her jacket, running out of the apartment into the hall. She carried her down the stairs, Lapis' eyes dull and unreadable. She looked like she was dazed and in pain.
"It'll be okay, Lapis.. It'll be okay." She whispered.
"Thanks, Peri. Thanks for the help..."
"Thank you. You protected me..."
"Are you okay?"
Peridot started beaming, her eyes widening happily. She pushed her hair out of her face. Lapis looked at her, and blushed furiously.
"Hey, greenie. I think we should go. My head hurts..." The blue-haired girl said.
"Okay, Miss Lazuli. Let's go."
Damn that sucked but eh. I liked writing it. Poor Lapis. But Lapidot is OTP so I had to make it lmao. Hope ya liked it, I guess? ;3
