Chapter Two
^Picture of Jaxson^
Ashley always felt bad when she left Emi behind like that but she couldn't chance getting caught in the wrong hall by a teacher.
Schools were honestly very weird places, then again most of the world's scenery was. The school has all the kids from preschoolers to seniors in one long hallway, two class rooms for each grade. The hallways were color coded by stone colors, and classrooms were divided by grades. An A Class and a B Class for every grade. Ashley has started out in B classes until about fourth grade, she finally started to study and work on herself like most kids do, and she moved up. After about fifth grade you have the people in your class for life, apart from the few outliers that move up or down after that.
In each class there are about forty kids, sometimes forty five in one and thirty five in another but the even number of forty is still a safe call. The kids in these classes know each other, they all grow up together and usually are close, this helps school rivalry between stones happen easier. The teams are pre-made.
Ashley made it in class just before the final bell, her friend, really the only one her color, was already in his seat beside hers.
"Look who finally decided to show up." He says with a smirk.
"Oh shush up Jaxson, you know I have had perfect attendance with no issues since second grade." She replied smiling back while sitting down.
"Yeah, I don't understand why, I take all my possible days every year, and we have ten!" He days laughing a little.
"Yeah, you rebel, no wonder you have such a hard time keeping your grades up." She replies smirking over at him.
"Yeah yeah, good thing I set by such a nice, smart, and beautiful friend like you to help me out with that." He says with a wink.
Ashley started to think back to the first time her and Jaxson met. It was first grade, and they were both in the B class together. Jaxson had been playing with a ball outside on his way to school while Ashley was running in fear of being late. As they reached the front doors, coincidentally at the same time, they both accidentally collided knocking each other down and leaving the ball to roll into a street behind them.
"Hey, my ball, why did you hit me for? Now my ball is gonna get squished." Jaxson said slowly standing up looking back and forth from the ball and this girl beside him.
"I'm sorry, I was not watching for people, I can get it." Little Ashley answered him jumping up and running toward the road.
"Hey wait! Don't run in the street, you could die! Stop!" Jaxson started calling out running after her.
"It's okay, I got it!" Ashley called back ignoring his warnings to try and fix the mistake she had made.
As she ran into the road Jaxson had caught up to be about five feet behind her since he was faster. He stopped at the edge of the sidewalk by the road and looked both ways to see a car coming straight for little Ashley. He closed his eyes shut very tight a quick second, clapped his hands and bolted, straight for Ashley. His little feet went faster than they had ever don't before, he didn't even stop when she stood with the ball in her hands. As they bodies collided he made sure to jump with her in his arms, and they made it out of the way of the car by mere inches.
He felt like a hero, and also like a half dead person. He paused and looked down at Ashley who was still on her back beside him. He got ready to lecture when he was able to see her tears, he quickly bent down thinking he didn't get her completely out of the way and that she was hurt.
"Are, are you okay? Where does it hurt? Miss girl?" He said looking for any sign of injury on her arms and legs.
"I'm, Im sorry that I got your ball in the road, and I'm sorry that you could of died!" She finished bursting in to tears.
Jaxson didn't have any siblings, so this feeling was new to him all together but he felt as though he needed to protect and calm her. Like if anyone was mean to her, he would fix it. He felt like a brother does to their sister.
"Come on, no tears, I'm right here."
She snapped back to reality as their teacher walked in, sitting at his desk.
