Chapter Five
^Picture of some of the June girls^
Ashley didn't fully understand what had happened, she was moments before simply watching her friends argue to each other like kids. Out of no where however, a sharp pain exploded across the side of her head and she lost consciousness. She awoke in an alley, backed up against a wall looking at an angry set of Junes.
This wasn't good, Junes may not be dark and brooding like Decembers but when killings and gangs showed up on the news they kept that second place strong. They were not scared of a little blood shed and they definitely knew she wasn't a Crystal. Ashley started thinking, she knew if she was going to get out of this she would have to appeal to their side, but, which side was that?
"Oh you're finally awake, took you long enough, it's already been close to an hour, and I don't have all day sweetie pie." The girl in the middle of around ten other kids said very sarcastically and agitated.
"What do you want? If it is anything I can give I will." Ashley said getting ready for the hit of possibly saying the wrong thing.
They all began to chuckle and laugh at her.
"It's always the same questions, no matter how many of you we bring, it is always the same. You straighten up and get ready for a fight, or a beating. You try to sound tough even though your scared and wishing to wake up from some nightmare. Then you talk, and that just makes me hate you, because it's always what you have the POWER to give us, what your POWER can do to get you out of this mess. Well news flash coming your way, I hate your power and for that, you will get a beating." She finished kneeling right in front of Ashley's face with her hand on a knife attached to her belt.
"You had all the stereotype right, bravo, except, well, you messed up one part hunny bunch, I'm not scared of a low life like-." Ashley said as the girl lunged a punch into her stomach.
"You really are a tough one, some of my friends here said you would be." The girl said with a smirk. "Too bad I can handle tough."
"Too bad you have never had to handle me." Ashley said as she slipped out of the rope binding her. She had been working to cut it with the knife on the girl's belt after she was punched and grabbed it. Holding up the knife as her only weapon the other kids started running towards her. She knew she couldn't kill them, so she threw the knife down and grabbed the rope at her feet. She then flung one side at the feet of the kids closes to her making them trip. She started swinging the rope making the others stop as to not get hit in the face. While doing this though, their leader had already grabbed the knife on the ground and was behind Ashley.
"Hey!"
The sound echoed through the alley and Ashley smiled with relief, she knew that voice. As she stopped and let her guard down the girl went behind her and stabbed her side. "I can handle anyone like you." She whispers in her ear as she held her up from behind.
Jaxson and Avery were there, running to her before the other kids blocked them from her.
"Don't come any closer or I stab in farther." The girl said with hate in her eyes.
Jaxson hadn't registered that he was seeing Ashley at first. Then he seen the blood, his anger raised past a level that he never knew was possible to reach. He lost it, he gave out a yell and started thrashing at all five kids holding him, he managed to get out of their grasp easy because they were not expecting the sudden force against them. He ran straight at Ashley and this girl before Avery too got out of their grasp and tackled him from behind.
"Jaxson! Stop! She will hurt her! You can't move!" Avery was saying on top of him as Jaxson started to push him off. "Jaxson, she will kill her if you don't follow my lead." Avery whispered into his ear.
Jaxson heard him, but first fears that Ashley would die tore him and almost broke him. Then he heard the second part, that he needed to follow Avery. Jaxson knew that Avery would never say that unless he actually had a plan, he wouldn't ever lead him in with fake hope like that. This made Jaxson breath and reprocess his thoughts. Avery slowly got off him and Jaxson slowly followed.
"Between us Jade, this is getting old, and please tell your other girls back there to stand down." Avery said talking to the girl holding a knife at Ashley's throat now.
After what Avery said Jaxson and Ashley both noticed that everyone in this alley was a girl except Jaxson and Avery. No wonder he got out of their grasp so easy, they were smaller than he was by a lot.
"Avery you don't know what is happening here and you never will, leave them to fend for themselves! They aren't even your color!" Jade yelled to Avery.
This is when Ashley remembered their contacts , she wasn't allowed to get the new white ones because they were only sold in a illegally made store, as contacts were illegal every where. Her mom hadn't let her go, and when she came to see Avery today she didn't have them on.
"I know they aren't, but the girl you have in your hand right now, that is so wounded that she can barely breath, she is my best friend, and I trust her more than all those Crystal kids anyway." Avery said looking at Ashley.
At this exact second Avery made a hand gesture far to familiar to Jaxson and then held down a three fingers, then two, then one.
Chaos happened all at once.
