Going Wild
The bet that Tomori made with Korosensi was regarding the next day of school, in which she was allowed to skip the day and have no consequences. So here she was, sleeping in- with a ton of rowdy kids around her.
"Tomori! Tomori! Wake up!" A young cheerful voice sounded in her right ear as people bounced on her bed.
A small groan escaped Tomori, as she blearily blinked her eyes to see who was now poking her nose. A small brown haired boy was in front of her, wearing an old green sweater with brown stripes on it. Turning her head, she saw a blue haired girl and boy along with a red haired boy bouncing on her bed.
"What do you four want?" She murmured, rubbing her eyes as she sat up. Her white hair was sticking out in at least three directions, and she wasn't in the mood for playing. Her delightful day off of sleeping in had been ruined. Blown away with the wind.
"Miss Opal said that you had to get to school, otherwise you will be late." The red haired boy stated factually. He had glasses that were slightly crooked resting on his face.
A huff escaped Tomori, as she rolled her eyes a little bit. "I don't have school today. My teacher let the class take the day off."
Liar.
"Why don't I take you four somewhere." She asked, ruffling the brown haired boy's hair playfully. "It's been a while since we've been out."
All three of them cheered, clambering off the bed. "Let me just tell Miss Opal that, we can eat breakfast, then leave. Alright?" Tomori clarified glancing at the three kids.
"Aye aye!" They cheered in unison, bouncing around. Each running off to their respective rooms. A small chuckle left Tomori as she swung her legs to the side of her bed. Her bare feet lightly touching the cold floor. Her long flannel pants reached to the floor as Tomori stretched her arms above her head.
Swiftly walking over to the entrance to her room, she shut the door and walked over to the small dresser with a mirror that she had. Opening one of the drawers she pulled out a long-sleeved lilac colored shirt with a small butterfly near wear the left sleeve was.
Quickly unbuttoning her nightshirt, she threw it onto her bed turning to grab the new shirt. Catching the sight of herself in the mirror, she saw the sight of a long scar running down from her chest to her navel.
Her body automatically shuddered, flinching away from the grotesque sight. Unwanted memories resurfacing in an instant, bile rising in her throat. Her hands reaching to cover her arms, also covered with many scars both small and large.
Time for another test.
stop.
Time for another test.
please.
Time for another test.
help me.
Time for another test.
somebody.
Time for another test.
anybody.
Time for another test.
save me.
Tomori stumbled backwards, clutching the lilac shirt in her hands. Tears slowly and silently dripped down her face as she returned to reality. Facing away from the mirror, she quickly got dressed in order to avoid looking at the scars.
Hurriedly, she wiped the tears off her face and dashed downstairs to see the four kids sitting at a table with Miss Opal hovering around them. "Nice of you to finally join us Tomori." The older women spoke.
"Apologies." Tomori bowed her head, moving to take her spot at the table. Pancakes were being served alongside apple juice.
A nod served as acceptance. "So Kabu tells me that your teacher let the class have the day off. That was rather nice of him." She said airly. The red haired boy nodded in conformation before resuming eating his share of the meal.
Tomori's grip tightened around her fork. "Is there something wrong with that?" She replied back evenly.
"Nothing at all, it's just rather nice and all. I didn't know that teachers did that nowadays." She responded, a light tone gracing her voice. "And so convenient that the elementary schoolers had a day off from their studies today as well."
Tomori stilled as she cursed at herself. She'd completely forgotten that was today, now her actions would seem suspicious. "A coincidence I assure you."
A hum escaped her caretaker, moving to serve the kids more pancakes. "Very well. I trust that you can take care of the kids? I need to go to work in 15 minutes." The older women responded.
"Of course I can." Miss Opal nodded satisfied as she cleaned up the area. Tomori only lowered her head and began eating. Only the sounds of clinking silverware and the washing of dishes filled the silence.
After about 10 minutes, Miss Opal stood up and left the room. Moments later she left out the front door. Only a goodbye reaching their ears.
A grin reached the brown haired boy's face as he stood up, done with his breakfast. "Can we go now?" He whined. "We haven't been able to hang out recently."
"Calm down Milo." Kabu warned. "Tomori, still has to finish up. And we've gotta wait until Melony and Alister get on their shoes." The blue-haired twins glancing up at the sound of their names.
A light chuckle left Tomori, "I'm all done." She said pushing away the empty plate. "I'm ready to leave when you guys are." Milo bounced up and down, rushing to the door and practically threw the twin's shoes to them.
With everyone chatting excited, Tomori quickly slipped on black boots to go along with her lilac shirt and jeans. Grabbing a random spare elastic from the counter, she quickly tied her hair into a ponytail.
Quickly grabbing a small satchel, she shoved her earbuds and iPod into it along with some money with other essentials.
"Milo stop bouncing around please, I don't need you running off."
"Kabu get your nose out of that book, we are going to be leaving soon. Bring it if you have to."
"Melony help Alister put on his shoes please."
"Alister just let Melony help you, it's not going to kill you."
Tomori pinched the bridge of her nose, a sigh being released from her. Why did she even bother with these kids. "Cmon we are going to go to the zoo."
That instantly got everyone moving. It had been a while since they'd gone to the zoo so it was a real treat for them. In no time at all, they left the house and started walking to the zoo that was nearby.
Milo was skipping ahead being a hyper little puppy, Kabu trailed a little behind them reading yet another book, while both Melony and Alister clutched her hands.
It took around 10 minutes before they finally entered the zoo. Milo immediately sprinted over to an enclosure that housed animals that Tomori recognized as baboons.
"OOOOOH. What are those things?!" Milo exclaimed, pressing his face up against the glass separating them.
Tomori opened her mouth to speak but Kabu beat her to it. "They are baboons. Their scientific name is Papio."
Tomori gave an impressed look to Kabu as he twisted his hands shyly. His book was now tucked underneath his arm. "I just read the books you gave me Tomori. Don't need to look so impressed."
"Don't be so modest." Letting go of Alister's hand she quickly ruffled Kabu's hair, with a smile. "Most 6 year olds wouldn't even dream of reading a book. Let alone one that's so advanced. Be proud of yourself." Kabu giggled swatting away her hand.
"OOOOOH WHATS THAT?!" Milo screeched running off to a different enclosure.
"Oh my goodness." Tomori sighed. "Why can't he be still for like 5 seconds."
"Because he's Milo." Peeped up a quiet Alister. A loud laugh erupted from Melony, causing her to go down with giggles. Tomori rolled her eyes playfully as the four walked behind the hyper Milo.
...
After going around the zoo for a couple hours, Tomori attempting to keep her mental sanity with running around after all the kids, they left and walked to a little cafe that they heard Miss Opal boasting about.
Kunugi-Kaze
That was the name of it.
Quickly they entered and the bells jingled as she stood face to face with a familiar person. "Hello, welcome- Tomori?" In front of her was the class representative. His expression morphing into an expression of shock.
Tomori froze and paled drastically, like a deer in headlights. "He-ey guys lets go." She said quickly, already turning to leave.
"But I wanna go here." Milo whined, oblivious to the situation. "Miss Opal said this was an amazing cafe."
"Milo." She warned, her voice low as she turned around.
Isogai quickly recovered, crouching down to Milo's height. "Ah so you guys know Miss Opal. Is she your mother?" He questioned as Tomori ground her teeth together.
"Nope! She just takes care of us." Milo said, a bright smile on his face.
Tomori's hand clenched, and she growled. "Milo, lets GO." Her white bangs shadowed her blue eyes, as she stared at Milo. Kabu, Melony, and Alister stood behind her, being mostly covered by her. Her body set in a protective stance.
Isogai calmly raised his hands, hoping to show that he meant no harm. "Shall I get you a table?" He questioned slowly.
Tomori gritted her teeth, half tempted to say no and just book it out of the small cafe. But, it wasn't looking like Milo would budge on this matter. And to top that, all the kids were tired from walking everywhere.
Not relaxing an inch she spoke, "Fine. Get us a dam- stupid table." Quickly moving to censor herself.
A smile fell upon Isogai's face once more as he led the five to a booth in the back corner. "Just order whatever you want, and I'll grab it." He left a couple menus in front of them, walking away.
Tomori sagged in her seat, tugging the elastic out of her hair. Her white hair tumbling down to her shoulders. "Order whatever you want. I'm paying after all."
The sooner she got this over with.
The sooner she could leave.
Until then she'd just have to get used to her classmate, not too subtly staring at them in curious wonder.
