Where is she?

~Soul’s p.o.v~

I don’t know why Maka would make ____ go away. Now we can’t find her and there was this strange energy that came form the graveyard (Maka told me) and weird lights and now we can’t find ____.

“This way Soul!” Maka called, shocking me from my daze. “Come on! We need to find ____!”

We made it to the graveyard and saw giant clouds of dust. “What the hell?” I asked. What the hell happened here? And where was ____? Maka said she had felt a sort of witch-hybrid soul. I turned to Maka. “Where’s the witch?” I asked.

“It… It’s-“ she began.

“It’s gone.” Kid finished. He looked around, his reaper eyes scanning for souls. “I can’t sense any witches for miles around. But-“ he said and turned, pointing. “____ soul is this way.” He said and began running.

I followed him, planning on using him until we found ____, and then ditching the others. Black Star ran past me and I swore under my breath. “Frickin meisters…” I muttered and started to run faster.

The girls followed behind, worried about ____. Maka passed me, then Liz and Patty, and then Tsubaki passed. I grumbled.

~Kid’s p.o.v~

I could sense ____’s soul and was heading towards it, the others behind me. I turned down a street and ran to a house at the end of the street.

“Kid! This is ____’s house!” Black Star said.

I stopped and turned, looking up at the big house. “Let’s go see if she’ll see us then.” I said. I walked up to the door and nocked, everyone else waiting behind me on the steps.

We waited a little bit, hearing someone moving around inside. “You think that ____ lives alone?” Tsubaki asked.

“I’m not sure.” Maka said. “But… both of her parents are dead.” She finished.

“What?” I asked. I had never heard about that.

“I’m not sure what happened… but my dad told me that.” Maka said. She moved, looking a little uncomfortable.

The door opened, and we all turned back to it.

~Atsuki’s p.o.v~

I opened the door after listening to the students talk for a moment. They were talking about ____, about how her parents were dead. I looked down at them, my face grim. “What do you want?” I asked.

“Does ____ live here?” a girl I recognized as Spirit’s daughter asked. The other students looked up at me hopefully.

“Why do you need to talk to her?” I asked, crossing my arms. “She’s sleeping.” I said, lying.

“Oh… well we saw lights, and smoke at the graveyard, and sensed her soul.” The boy in front of me said, white streaks in his black hair. “We wanted to make sure she was okay… We also think that there was a witch, and we just-“

“She’s fine.” I said, cutting them off. “She needs time away from the school. She just had to relive something terrible, and I don’t want her near anyone.” I said, my voice sounding protective.

“Then who are you?” a boy with blue hair asked. I knew him. I actually knew all of them because I taught at the academy. “Why are you with her?”

“My name is Atsuki. I’m a teacher at the academy, and I live with  ____. I’m surprised none of you recognize me, seeing as I’m your teacher.” I said.

“I’m sorry, Sir!” Maka said. She bowed, finally putting two and two together and realizing who I was. “You… you teach PE… or… I mean you train the meisters and weapons how to resonate while we fight…?” she asked and I nodded.

“I thought you guys paid better attention.” I put my hand on the door to close it. “I need to get back to ____.” I said.

I shut the doors before the students could protest. They were so noisy. I walked back into the house after locking the door. “Stupid people shouldn’t poke their noses into other’s business.” I said as I walked into ____’s room.

She was on the bed, hiding under the blankets. “I… I want to be alone.” She said and I moved to her bed and sat on the corner of it.

“Too bad, ‘cause you’re stuck with me.” I said. I looked at her walls and saw the glass boxes on her wall that had had different assortments of butterflies in them, was open and the butterflies were gone. I sighed. “____... please put the butterflies back.” I said.

She didn’t move.

“____.” I said and pulled her blankets back. Hundreds of different sized butterflies flew up from her blankets in a colorful wave, shimmering and causing soft wind that can only be caused from tiny wings, brushed my face.

“____.” I said again, the butterflies brushing my face. “What have I told you about doing this sort of thing?” I said.

“I only have to use my magic if I don’t want the dead thing on humans. And anyway, that’s only if I don’t want it to not kill people.” She said.

“Why do you do this to yourself every year?” I asked her. “Bringing back Angelica, I mean. Why do you put yourself through seeing her?”

“She made me relive me killing her.” ____ blurted out.

The two of us were still as the butterflies flew up to the sealing and rested there, their wings creating a beautiful mess of colors.

“____... are you okay?” I asked.

She shook her head, tears beginning to fall from her cheeks. “I just want to forget everything, everyone. But then I would have to forget you and Angelica… and mama and papa…” she was sobbing at this point and I put my arms around her. “Why do we have to feel all the pain?” she asked.

I held her until she had calmed down and the we just sat there for a while. “____, I wanted to tell you something.” I said.

She moved a little bit, her eyes closed. “What is it?”

“I’ve been dating this girl for a little while, and I wanted to ask her to move in.” I said.

“Why are you telling me?” she asked, staying snuggled into my chest.

“Because this is your house too.” I said.

“It’s fine.” She said. “But I will tell you if she’s a bitch. And then you have to kick her out.”

“Fair enough.” I said, laughing a little. I hadn’t just been wanting to ask her about the girl moving in, I wanted to see what she would say when she heard that I had gotten over Angelica.

“Do you still love Angelica?” she asked and I smiled sadly, knowing the question had been coming.

“I will never be able to love someone like I loved Angelica.” I said. I untangled her arms from me and laid her back down, moving her covers back over her. “You’ve had a long day. Get some rest.” I said, kissing her forehead.

I stood and walked out of her room, flicking off the light. I sat down at the couch and picked up some papers that needed to be graded for Stein. He was busy and I usually was helping him in class anyway.

“Atsuki…?” ____ called a few minutes later and I stood.

I walked to her room with the papers leaned against the open doorway. “What do you need?” I asked.

She sat up in bed, rubbing one eye. “Onee-chan… will you sit in here until I fall asleep?” she asked.

I nodded and sat in front of her bed. I leaned against the frame and continued to grade the papers. I paused a moment later when her breathing slowed.

I smiled sadly and looked up at the sealing, all the butterflies looking beautiful in the semi-darkness. “I love you, Angelica.” I said, missing her more every second.

Hey everyone! Sorry this took a little while! But i hoped you liked it!
