I felt cold run through me as Asuka stared at me with horrible anger. She must've blamed me...

"Mari!" Maka's voice said, and I looked up to see that her, Liz, Patty, and Tsubaki had been there the whole time. Maka looked as if she wanted to help Mari, reaching out to her charred fingertips, but not wanting to touch her.

Asuka's eyes were red-hot with anger and she stood, helping Mari up. "We should get back to the academy." She said.

Stein put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her. "I don't know if we can trust you." He said, and she looked up at him, her eyes flashing with fear for a second.

"No. I suppose you cant." She said, holding Mari up. I felt my stomach drop, and opened my mouth to say something, but was cut off by Mari beginning to say something. Her voice sounded as if she had inhaled fire, and no one could understand her.

"Trust... both of... them." She said, coughing a moment later. She gasped and I watched as she fell, Asuka catching her before she could hit the ground.

I felt my thoughts slip away from me as they all turned and looked at me. Their eyes pried at my skin as if searching for something. I had betrayed them, and now they were going to hurt me, lock me up... kill me...

"Take _____ back to the Academy and have Lord Death asses them." Spirit said, his dark red hair fitting in the darkness.

Three sets of hands wrapped around me, and I looked over to see Kid, Soul, and Black Star, all of their eyes worried for my sake, and I felt regret run through me. I was going to have to choose sooner or later.

When we were back at the DWMA, I was brought to Lord Death. I stood before him in the Death Room, feeling the eyes of Stein, Spirit, Marie, and Atsuki tear at me.

"_____, you ran from the Academy?" Death said. "And went to Arachne." He said.

I looked up at him and nodded. "I'm sorry." I said.

Spirit huffed. "You think that'll be enough?" the man said.

"She said she was sorry." Marie said, the sweet woman looking at me. I hadn't had the chance to properly meet her much, and now... well, I don't think I would get to, not with the look Spirit was giving me.

There was a clatter of the door to the Death Room, and the receptionist blabbing at someone as they ran into the room. I looked up, hearing many feet.

I saw the three boys that were making my heart ache so much. They all stumbled onto the podium type thing and all started talking at once. No one could understand and they began fighting, trying to be heard.

"Don't punish her!" they finally agreed on, after turning away and whispering loudly to each other.

Black Star cracked his knuckles and looked at Stein. "We still have to win her heart, and what will we do if you punish her?"

Soul sighed sadly, putting his hands in his pockets. "It's not very cool, but I'm madly in love and I can't get her out of my head."

Kid smiled sweetly at me, looking to Stein. "Please give her another chance."

There was silence as I looked at the boys, the three of them smiling at me. Lord Death clapped his hands together, thinking for a moment. "Well... She did break the contract she signed." He said, holding up a slip of paper with my name on it. There was silence as I looked at the ground with regret. I had broken the contract. I deserved something terrible-

"But, I guess everyone needs a second chance!" Death said. Clapping his hands happily.

"Or third..." Spirit said, and Marie gave him a hard look, shutting him up.

I sighed with relief. "Thank you so much..." I said, bowing.

"You won't be so lucky next time." Stein said, his glasses flashing in the light of the room.

I nodded and turned to go. "And _____," Death said. I turned back around, looking at his white mask. He held out his hand, a little bracelet on it. "You need a new tracker. Arachne did something to the last one." He said.

Stein walked forward and removed the last one, snapping the new one on. "Don't get into any trouble." He said, his hands dropping from the bracelet. "And," He said. "Talk to Mari and Asuka."

An odd feeling began in my stomach and I nodded.
