A strange white mask with a black line going up from the right eye and a similar black line going down from the left and a large smile appeared near Kari's soul. "... Huh? Oh, hey there soul... what's your name?"

I'm Kari Himura. Who're you?

"My name's W.D. Gaster. Hold on a moment, you can understand me? How interesting. Not only that but your color is rather odd and you look so small and frail..."

I am? Oh, well uh... I need help... Someone took my body and I need to get it back. Can you help me? Please?

"Very well. I will help you. Only because I can not stand the one who took your body. There is one thing you must do for me in return." Gaster's smile seemed to widen a little. "There are some things on the surface that you must know. When you are out of the underground, go to the four labs in the forests that are behind the four villages near the mountain. There you will find what you are looking for."

I... I guess I can do that... How far away from the mountain is it?

"The villages are close to the mountain, one village to the north, another to the south, then there is the one to the west, and finally one to the east."

Okay. I will do that. Now how do I get my body back?

"Hold on now. I will transfer you into a temporary body until the time is right then I will help you get your body back." Two white hands then grabbed Kari's soul and she was warped into her temporary body, which was Chase. Kari was in her silver knapsack while her body walked on.

"This is amazing. The power! ... It feels about the same, but I know that that's not right. Whatever."

Chara, give Kari back her body!

"Geez Frisk, can't ya just leave me alone? Oh, wait!" Kari's body laughed. "You can't! Cuz we're connected!"

"So... Chara and Frisk... Chara is in my body and Frisk is the one trying to find me... I'll keep that in mind... What does Chara want to do?" Kari thought. "I should lay low for now. Stay like a toy and then surprise Chara when I'm ready."

"Right, so to the core to kill Sans and the king." Chara smirked as he spoke. Kari winced and did her best not to move very much. While Chara walked on, the plush toy searched through the items in the silver knapsack, seeing if there was anything that could help her. Hours went by and Chara stopped.

"Hey kid." Sans's voice was heard. The two were in front of MTT resort. "So, I heard you were going to the core. How about having some dinner with me first?" Sans asked with his usual smile. Chara growled and sent a glare to Sans while gritting his teeth.

"No thanks. I'm busy." Sans went wide eyed and his smile seemed to grow bitter. "Now I need to get home. Out of my way." Chara shoved past Sans and went into MTT resort. Little did Chara know was that Kari forced herself out of her silver knapsack and onto the ground. Sans stared at her in confusion.

"Sans!" Kari raced up to Sans with a huff. "Man I'm glad to see you... Oh right... A lot has happened recently."

"Kari?" Sans asked then knelt down and picked up the dragon. "That you?" Kari nodded.

"Yeh! My body was taken over by someone named Chara and he's going to kill you and the king at some point. I need to get my body back." Kari called out with a sad tone of voice. Sans blinked.

"Well. That is a lot... Guess I'll help in some way, though you know me. I'm pretty lazy." Sans chuckled and Kari sighed.

"I'd love the help. I don't know what this person is going to do and it's scaring me..." Kari sounded panicked.

"Hey, easy kiddo. I'll help, I'll help. Just don't get found out by this Chara person and let me handle this for now." Kari nodded. "Good, now hold still." Sans's left eye began to glow blue and Kari began to feel weird. She tightly closed her eyes for a moment. When the strange feeling passed Kari slowly opened her eyes and looked around, she was in her knapsack. The toy sighed in relief and decided to just wait for a while.

Chara moved quickly through the core, going through Asgore's home as if he knew it from memory. He went and grabbed a really sharp knife and a locket from one of the rooms. Chara then went onward and soon found himself in a corridor with pillars and large bell-shaped windows. Chara chuckled.

"This time is different Sans..." He whispered under his breath and gripped the handle of his knife. Kari began to get worried from inside the knapsack.

"... I need to hold on a little longer..." She thought with a low grumble.

"Hey there, kid." Sans's voice echoed while Chara neared the exit. "So, I've heard that you took my friend's body." Chara smirked.

"So, she's still here. Little brat ruining my plans." Chara growled. "It doesn't matter, to be honest. I just need the power she holds. Then I can continue with my plan. I don't need Asriel anymore, I just need this little girl's power." Kari growled.

"Honestly, I don't care about your excuses. Kari told me that you were out to kill me and the king. Is that true?"

"..Yes, I am out to kill you and the king." Chara sighed and shrugged. "I've done it before so I'm more than sure that I can do it again. Especially now that I have this brat's power under my control." Sans glared at Chara.

"You keep saying that Kari has some sort of power. What exactly do you mean?" Sans asked, acting like he had never seen anything.

"I know you've seen it. The barrier that formed around Kari when she was unconscious from her fight with Undyne. The scream Undyne said repealed her magic spear and made it so another one could not be formed. You saw this brat's raw power." Sans stared with widened eyes. "Alright. Enough talk. I wanna test out this new body." Chara charged at Sans. "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!" He called but Sans moved out of the way, his left eye glowing a bright blue.

"You wanna have a bad time, kid?" He asked with a cold tone. Chara turned to face Sans with a smirk. He threw Kari's stuff down and laughed.

"Like I haven't heard that one before." He rolled his eyes. "Let's go, come on Sans. Or should I go kill Papyrus." Sans twitched slightly in shock at the mention of Papyrus. "Ooooh! Looks like I struck a nerve. Oh, wait! You don't have nerves!" Chara laughed at his own joke and Sans started to get angry. Kari poked her head out of her bag and she looked at the scene.

"Wh-what's going on?" She thought. The symbols on her own body, which was possessed by Chara, began to glow. "Stop it... Don't fight!" The child thought as her fear and sadness grew. Chara blinked then looked down at his palms to see the symbols glowing. He smirked evilly.

"Yes! The power! I feel it!" Chara called then looked to Sans. "You are the one who's going to have a bad time." He chuckled darkly and then rushed at Sans once again.

Back at the lab in Hotland Alphys watched what she thought was Kari starting to fight Sans. This worried her a little bit. She knew something was wrong since Kari always refused to fight. Then she noticed Kari's glowing symbols and her eyes widened. "Th-those are... Oh man... How come I didn't notice before? Oh man, I need to go and get help... I can't do this myself... Wh-where are those containers? I know I p-put them somewhere around here." Alphys started to scramble around her lab looking around. "Where are they where are they?!" Alphys looked at her monitor and stared with wide eyes. "Oh no... Oh no, no, no, no." Alphys gulped and began to shiver. "Kari, what are you... Wait... Chase is... M-moving?! What is going on?! I have to get the soul containers now!" Alphys went back to scrambling around. "Why do I feel like I need to evacuate the undergrounds? Why do I feel like this may have happened before?" Alphys thought as she went through her lab, searching for the soul containers she desperately needed.
