Chapter 6

Hey Hello~

xoxo

Chanyeol had definitely won, with a score of 230 out of 300, while Baekhyun had only gotten a sad 120 points out of 300.

"That's no fair," Baekhyun frowned as they left the building, and he slightly registered that it was colder than earlier in the day.

"It totally was, just admit it, I beat you so hard..."

Baekhyun didn't listen to Chanyeol, instead, he checked his watch and was surprised that it was only 5PM. He wondered again when his classes had ended and how long they had been playing. Time had completely flown by him while he was focused on balls rolling into gutters and pins disappearing behind shutters.

He shrugged off the thoughts of time as both of them walked to a bus stop void of people.

"You want to go eat something?" Chanyeol asked as they sat down on the worn out bench, watching the passing cars and falling leaves.

Yes, definitely yes, his stomach screamed, but he just replied with a cool: "Sure."

Chanyeol began giving suggestions of restaurants, cafes, bistros and even some coffeehouses that Baekhyun had never heard of.

"McDonalds?" Chanyeol questioned for what seemed like his 100th suggestion, and Baekhyun laughed.

"How about we just go wherever you want to go?" Baekhyun asked before quickly adding, "I mean, you seem to know much more about food places than me. I can only name about 3 on the top of my head."

"Name them, then. We'll choose from one of those," Chanyeol shrugged.

"Um... McDonalds... Dairy Queen..?" Baekhyun said as more of a question than a statement. "Tempero?"

He didn't even know the last one, Chanyeol had actually suggested it earlier and the only reason Baekhyun had said it was because it was one of the only ones he really remembered (the name reminded him of temper, and so it stuck).

Chanyeol laughed, somehow knowing what Baekhyun was thinking of. "Alright, I'll just choose."

They climbed onto the bus once it arrived and when they sat down, Chanyeol leaned against Baekhyun, closing his eyes.

"What are you doing?" Baekhyun asked but Chanyeol didn't reply.

They sat in silence on the bus, waiting for the right time to for them to step off.

Baekhyun didn't even know where they were going, and so he distracted himself by looking outside of the window at the changing leaves and green grass, his mind trailing off to the events of that day.

For some reason, it warmed Baekhyun's heart that their, well, Baekhyun and Chanyeol's, first date together had been so fun, even if Chanyeol had called Baekhyun 'Baekgyu' multiple times. It was kinda ironic how both Baekhyun and Baekgyu's first date with Chanyeol was at a bowling alley...

Baekhyun wondered if the same events happened on Baekgyu and Chanyeol's date, and then he laughed. Definitely not, he reassured himself.

Chanyeol lifted his head and looked at Baekhyun questioningly when he had heard the sound of his laughter, and Baekhyun didn't reply, simply keeping his gaze out of the window.

They arrived at the correct bus stop and Chanyeol stepped off with Baekhyun in tow, his hand holding Baekhyun's own.

They walked in the cool weather towards a restaurant that was still a mystery to Baekhyun. He felt the need to shiver, but Chanyeol's palm pressed up against his fought off the chill. Unconsciously, Baekhyun's steps quickened to close the gap between their sweater-clad bodies, and they walked with their arms pressed together.

Eventually, the two of them stopped in front of a cute place called 'Bon Appetite', the name written in a fancy font that held an iridescent glow. The outer appearance of the restaurant reminded Baekhyun of France with it's flower pots hanging underneath the windows and the steal bars curling into fleur de lis across the glass.

Chanyeol opened the glass door and a little jingle rang throughout the small place, and the smell of food immediately invaded Baekhyun's senses.

It was a small and quaint place, with several circle tables littering the ground and bistro chairs arranged around each one.

There was a handwritten sign that told them to seat themselves, and so they took the liberty of doing so, choosing a table near the big window.

There weren't a lot of other people, and so the chatter was reduced to very quiet whispers, as if everyone was afraid of ruining the peaceful atmosphere provided by the restaurant.

The whole place gave Baekhyun a very familiar feel, and he wondered when-or if-he had been here before.

He didn't remember ever knowing this place existed, but the moment he stepped foot inside, a wave of nostalgia overcame him.

A short waitress soon came to take their order, and they both ordered different things—with Baekhyun making sure it didn't have any nuts whatsoever.

Once she left, they settled into small talk about anything and everything, and sometimes Chanyeol would ask him questions that he didn't know Baekgyu's answer to, and so he just answered with his own preferences. In regards to questions he did know answers to, he tried to answer as much like Baekgyu as he could.

"Do you remember what happened on our first anniversary?" Chanyeol asked with a laugh and Baekhyun thanked the lords that Baekgyu filled him in on that day.

"Are you talking about the duck incident? Or perhaps when you fell in the water?" Baekhyun questioned and Chanyeol smiled.

"I was actually talking about the duck incident... But, by the way, it was your fault I fell in the water."

"We were playing with the dolphins, Chanyeol. You were supposed to go in the water anyways... I just gave you a little push," Baekhyun mentioned as he remembered what Baekgyu had told him.

The food came shortly after and Baekhyun dug in, savoring the taste of heaven.

Chanyeol watched with amused eyes as Baekhyun wrestled with cutting his steak, giving up and instead shoving it fully in his mouth. Not shortly after, Baekhyun was choking on the food and Chanyeol laughed, offering him a glass of water.

After his choking episode was over with, Baekhyun apologized with a faint blush on his face that Chanyeol didn't fail to catch, his mind cooing at how cute his boyfriend was.

When Baekhyun stabbed his lettuce with a fork, Chanyeol spoke up. "So, tell me what you did in Tokyo," Chanyeol said as he slowly ate his own food, waiting for Baekhyun's reply.

"In Tokyo..." Baekhyun began as he twirled his fork and lettuce around, thinking up an answer. "You already know that I went to get better education," Baekhyun stalled, as he wished that something would interrupt them and he wouldn't have to talk. "I went to this really big school and I—" in the middle of talking, his mind made up a brilliant plan: he was just going to recite what happened to his favourite character in a manga that he had recently read. "—met someone who was really tall. I became friends with him instantly and found out that his name was Hikaru. Hikaru had these other friends who..." Baekhyun kept on talking and talking, laughing at random parts where he had found the story funny, and Chanyeol had just watched him with adoring eyes.

More time had passed than Baekhyun thought and before long, Baekhyun was getting to the part where everything in the story got more depressing and just as Baekhyun was about to get all sad, Chanyeol's phone rang.

Baekhyun didn't know if he was disappointed that he couldn't tell the story to Chanyeol, or if he was happy that he didn't need to talk anymore.

He took a drink out of his glass as he watched Chanyeol look at him apologetically as he talked.

Baekhyun decided that it was a good time to finish his food and so he began eating his food again, thinking about what to do if Chanyeol asked him to continue.

When Chanyeol was finished, Baekhyun was already done his food.

"Sorry, can you continue?" Chanyeol asked and Baekhyun shook his head.

"I want to know what you did in these two years," Baekhyun stated and Chanyeol thought about it before he began speaking.

"Well, to start it off, my parents opened up a bakery..."

After laughter and more story telling, Baekhyun and Chanyeol were both finished eating. It was already almost 8 when they were heading back to the dorm, their moods happier than usual.

They took turns showering, and once Baekhyun was done after Chanyeol, he climbed into his bed, closing his eyes blissfully. He had early classes tomorrow, and he didn't necessarily have any homework due, so he thought, why not just sleep?

Of course, it just had to be that sleep was probably the last thing on Chanyeol's mind.

"Baekgyu... After thinking a lot... I've realized that I don't actually know a lot of things about you," Chanyeol confessed and Baekhyun's mind began flashing alarms.

He doesn't know enough about Baekgyu?! Chanyeol's got to be kidding, he knows so much that it's making my life ten times harder.

"What type of things do you want to know?" Baekhyun asked slowly, the sleep slowly leaving his mind.

"Well, first, I want to know about your family..."

"I have parents," Baekhyun stated simply and for some reason, he could feel the disappointment in Chanyeol from the other side.

"What are your parents like? Do you have any siblings?" Chanyeol asked, wanting to know more details.

"My parents are... Really nice, they help me out with a lot of things and give me lots of gifts," Baekhyun spoke, imagining that he was Baekgyu. "They treasure me a lot and make sure that I'm never missing anything."

Chanyeol hummed and Baekhyun heard the slight ruffling of sheets. "They sound amazing."

"Yeah..." Baekhyun replied a little solemnly and he turned in his bed to face Chanyeol, before he realized that Chanyeol was staring at him from his side.

The days were growing shorter, and so night time had already covered the sky around an hour ago; the moon bright in the sky and the stars barely visible.

Thanks to the light that traveled its way through the gap in the curtains, he could see Chanyeol's wide eyes staring back at him and the red of his hair seemed to light up their room, practically shouting: hey! I'm here!

"Since you asked me a question, can I ask you one?" Baekhyun questioned when the silence became unbearable, and Chanyeol pursed his lips, nodding shortly after. "Why..." Baekhyun thought about his question again, wondering if it was a good idea or not. "Why do you love me?"

The moment the words fell out of his mouth, he realized he regretted asking them and he quickly added: "N—Not like... I mean, you're allowed to and stuff, I was just wondering why... I guess."

More silence, and then a chuckle.

"You know, this is around the tenth time you've asked that, and my answer will never change," Chanyeol mentioned and Baekhyun didn't know why his face burned in response to his words. "I love you because you're..." Chanyeol's words trailed off and Baekhyun panicked when he saw the sudden hesitation on Chanyeol's face.

Why? Baekhyun asked himself when he saw the expression that morphed into something else, in an attempt to hide from Baekhyun's eyes.

"Because you're you," Chanyeol finished with a voice Baekhyun knew was only a facade.

Chanyeol was trying to sound sure of himself; he was trying to trust Baekgyu.

But no, it was only fake. Baekhyun could see past it, and straight to the part of Chanyeol that was doubting and asking repeating questions: why is he doing that? Why is he acting like that? After two years... Why hasn't he told me he loved me once?

"Because I'm me..." Baekhyun repeated, more to himself than to Chanyeol.

No.

It's not because I'm me.

It's because I'm Baekgyu.

He woke up early, earlier than he even needed to, and he slipped out of the room unnoticed, leaving a lightly snoring Chanyeol behind and heading to his classes.

He bumped into Jongin on the way and greeted him. "Good morning," Baekhyun smiled and Jongin returned it. "How are things with Kyungsoo?" Baekhyun questioned and he turned to Jongin who had a frown on his face.

Baekhyun's eyebrows knitted in confusion and he wondered why everyone here was just so complicating—but at the same time easy to read.

"It hasn't even been that long but we already had our first fight..." Jongin stated and heaved a sigh.

"Do you want to make up with him?" Baekhyun asked.

"Yes," Jongin answered almost exasperatedly and Baekhyun felt even more confused.

That did not sound like he wanted to fix it.

"U—Um, what happened?" Baekhyun inquired carefully, not wanting to push too deep into their personal life.

"He got mad that I wasn't spending time with him," Jongin explained and Baekhyun vaguely thought back to what he and Chanyeol had done when that had happened.

"Why don't you take him out on a date then? As some sort of apology?" Baekhyun suggested and instead of looking like a lightbulb appeared in his head, Jongin sighed.

"He always says no, because he's busy studying," Jongin explained and Baekhyun frowned. "I don't even know why he's getting mad at me when he's the one pushing me away."

"Why don't you study together? That would be fun, right?" Baekhyun suggested once more and again, he only received a sad reply from Jongin.

"I don't like studying. I never do."

"How about—"

"We're just too different," Jongin pointed out the obvious and although it was true, Baekhyun didn't like the sound of it.

"Yeah, but... But..." Baekhyun didn't really know what to do, because he was actually inexperienced with stuff like bickering couples. He let his unfinished sentence float between them in awkward silence as he thought desperately for a suggestion.

"Hey, do you have a boyfriend—or girlfriend?" Jongin cut into the stiffened atmosphere and Baekhyun had to stop in his tracks.

Do I?

It happened so fast that Baekhyun didn't even register it happening. "No," his mouth replied on its own and Baekhyun's eyes widened.

"So... You're single?" Jongin asked.

Yes? No?

Do I have a boyfriend?

"Um..." Baekhyun wondered if he should tell Jongin he had a boyfriend, but there was something stopping him—and that's when he remembered:

Chanyeol isn't my boyfriend.

Baekhyun nodded slowly as an answer, noticing the glint in Jongin's eyes. "And this whole time I thought you were taken by an amazing boyfriend—or girlfriend," Jongin corrected himself.

"I'm interested in boys, okay? No need to trip over your words anymore," Baekhyun informed him and Jongin practically beamed.

"Well well well, that just makes it even better," Jongin said and Baekhyun didn't know why he felt guilt pooling in his stomach. "You really don't have a boyfriend?" Jongin asked once again and Baekhyun nodded, sure of himself this time.

"Yeah, I don't have a boyfriend."

Chanyeol isn't my boyfriend.

He's Baekgyu's.

xoxo

Wowow, Jongin the player... How do you like this story—okay I ask that too much, I'm gonna become a broken recorder someday... *Looks into the distance*

Okay, welp, I gotta go now!
