-5 days later-

I had considered what Steven said about Jasper taking care of our puppy, but Lapis seemed to be strongly against the idea. However, we did decide to put Pumpkin into training, and she has been doing pretty well surprisingly. "Maybe she'll be so good, they'll give her the service dog role early!" Lapis said, laying on her bed on her back. Her legs were kicked up, and she was staring up at the ceiling. "I don't think that's how it works, Lapis." I giggled, petting Pumpkin, who was in my lap on my bed.

"Are we even doing anything for New Years, Peri? Everyone seems so hyped about it but you haven't said one word about it." Lapis explained, glancing over at me. "Hey, you haven't said anything either. I mean, there's always the show on TV. That thing where the ball drops." I said, looking down at Pumpkin. "I'm assuming Amethyst is probably gonna try and come over, drunk off her ass at midnight." Laz muttered. "I wouldn't be surprised. But I'm surprised you hadn't had any plans for tonight." I replied. "Well, I mean, I bought these." Lapis said, suddenly sitting up.

I watched as she climbed out of bed, and walked over to her dresser. She pulled open the top drawer, and pulled out a Walmart bag. She then reached into the bag, and quickly took out a couple of those obnoxious things that you blow into. "Oh, how wonderful." I chirped sarcastically. "Yes, in fact, it is wonderful. Look at all the different colors I got." she stated, dumping the package onto my bed. I huffed as the small objects rolled all over the place, including onto the floor.

Lapis then picked up a blue one, and held it up to her mouth. I slightly flinched as she blew into it, making a painfully loud high-pitched noise. I flinched harder as soon as Pumpkin jolted up and barked at the bluenette. I watched in surprise as Pumpkin thrashed, then leaped off of the bed straight for Lapis. Lapis screeched loudly in startlement, immediately dropping the whistle thing. Pumpkin soared through the air toward Lapis, and she quickly caught the puppy, but struggled to hold her away from her face.

Pumpkin growled and squirmed violently as she continued barking loudly. She attempted to escape Lapis' grip most likely to either attack her, or the noise maker. Lazuli simply held the dog away, but stared at her in utter shock. "HEY!! KNOCK IT OFF!!" I yelled, climbing down from my bed. If the puppy made too much noise, Aqua was definitely going to be angry. I approached Lapis and the upset puppy, and carefully took Pumpkin from her hands. I stared straight at her, and the dog seemed to be exhausting herself. "Hey. No. Stop it. Bad dog." I repeated a couple times sternly, eyeing her intensely.

Pumpkin finally stopped thrashing, and quieted her growls. "Bad girl." I stated, furrowing my eyebrows. She then appeared to be sad, and her legs and arms drooped as I held her in front of me. She whimpered, and I ever so slowly placed her back onto my bed. She simply sat down, and stared up at Lapis and I sorrowfully. "That...is going to be a problem." Lapis finally said after staring down at the animal for a moment.

-11:42 PM-

Lapis was sitting in my bed, and my head was laying in her lap as we peacefully watched the performers on TV. There had been some noise of hustle and bustle outside our dorm since about 10:00 PM, but we paid no mind to it. Pumpkin was laying on Lapis' bed, sound asleep. My heart jumped up to my throat as soon as I heard a loud bang on our door. "Amethyst! Gentler." I then heard my sister's voice scold. "Ughhh, Squariiiii..." I grumbled, unmoving. "Want me to get it?" Lapis then asked, looking down at me. I huffed, and closed my eyes.

"IT'S OPEN!!" I yelled, furrowing my eyebrows. The doorknob jiggled violently, and there burst in Amethyst, and my older bitch sister, Squari. "HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE, LOVEBIRDS!" Amethyst shouted, throwing her arms in the air. "15 minutes 'til 2019." Squari stated, crossing her arms and smirking. "Hey guys. Don't you have some party to be hosting right now?" I asked, a bit annoyed. "Nahhhh, Pearl will hold down the fort while I'm gone. I wanted to see you guys." Amethyst explained excitedly.

"Then what're you doing here?" I asked, looking over at Squari. "What? A girl can't come and visit her lil' sister and her hot girlfriend?" Squari asked smugly, arching an eyebrow. I loudly hissed at her in response. "Please close the door. I don't want Pumpkin to run out." Lapis said, and Squari pushed the door closed with her elbow. "Is it crazy out there?" Lazuli then asked. "Oh it will be in a few minutes." Amethyst giggled, wiggling her eyebrows. "Man, it's dark in here. You hermits need some light." Squari said, flicking the light switch on.

I squinted my eyes and groaned loudly, and Pumpkin sat up curiously. I sighed, and finally just sat up. "Can I please spend my new years in peace?" I whimpered, and Squari snorted. "Of course! With us!" Amethyst beamed. She then pulled something out of her pocket, and raised it up to her mouth. "NO!!!" Lapis shouted, clearly startling Ame. "What's the deal?" the purple-haired girl asked, confused. "Unless you wanna be mauled by a puppy, I highly recommend you don't blow on that." Lapis warned.

Amethyst's gaze flickered to Pumpkin, and she looked a little uneasy. There was then another knock at the door, and before I could even ask who it was, Squari opened it. There stood Pearl and Garnet in the doorway, and I sighed through my nose. "Amethyst, I did not volunteer to chaperone your party! Someone has already vomited on our coffee table!" Pearl shouted, pointing a finger in Ame's face. "C'monnnn, we have a janitor at this university, Pearl." Amethyst argued, waving her off. "The janitor does not clean after our messes in our dorm rooms!" Pearl squawked angrily.

"Happy new years eve, you two." Garnet said, nodding her head at us. I nodded back, and stood up from my the bed. Lapis then sat up more, stretching her legs out. "ONE MINUTE UNTIL NEW YEARS!!!" some random girl screamed from the hallway, and I looked over at Squari. She crossed her arms and shot me a smirk, and I cringed at her. Pearl and Amethyst were arguing, Garnet was petting Pumpkin, and I stood there, having a stare off with Squari.

"TEN...NINE..." I tensed up as soon as I heard everyone outside counting down. Pearl was still snapping at Amethyst, which the shorter girl seemed nearly indifferent to. "FIVE..FOUR.." Squari's smirk only grew, and she nodded her head behind me, referring to Lapis. I arched an eyebrow in question, but then immediately got the message when everyone was already at three. Amethyst interrupted Pearl's intense scolding by placing her hands on her shoulders and pulled her down to her level. Fuck.

"TWO...ONE..." I spun around to remind Lapis, but I was pleasantly surprised as she was already an inch away from my face. She quickly enclosed the space, and my eyes fluttered closed as she placed her hands on either side of my face. My heartbeat sped up, and brightly beamed inside. All of the loud noises in our environment were now nearly inaudible to me as I deepened the kiss. Wait...loud noises...

Third person POV:

Three college students cheered outside of Lapis and Peridot's dorm, and all three blew into their noise makers excitedly. The tall blond one of the three friends then raised an eyebrow as he heard...barking? He turned his head in the direction of the dorm and his eyes immediately widened. "WHOA IS THAT A DOG?!" Jenny then shouted as she took a step back. The puppy charged Sour Cream at the speed of light, and he yelped. "BOOK IT DUDE!" Buck shouted as the puppy neared closer, looking angry as ever. Sour Cream yelled, and turned around to in fact book it.

However, he turned a corner, and accidentally crashed into another college student, who was holding vodka. "NO!!" he shouted as his vodka fell to the floor, splashing everywhere. "AH SHIT LARS IT'S IN MY EYES!!" the guy's shorter girlfriend shouted. "U-uh I'll get some papertowels!" Lars whimpered, backing up. "What the hell is going on here?!" Lars' friend Emerald shouted, who was holding a box of pop-its.

Sour Cream shouted again as Pumpkin caught up to him and jumped onto his leg. "Is that a dog?!" Emerald asked, now extremely confused. Sour Cream screamed louder, and Pumpkin barked at Lars and Emerald, startling them both. Emerald dropped her box, and all of the pop-its scattered, unfortunately popping. Everyone was now screaming.

Peridot's POV:

"PUMPKIN!!!" Lapis shouted at the top of her lungs as she urgently peeked out the door. In the distance it sounded like something genocidal was happening out there. Extremely loud crack noises kept going off, Pumpkin waa barking, and everyone seemed to be screaming. "I-I'll get her!!" I exclaimed, dashing out the door into the hallway. I followed the noises, and my stomach dropped as soon as I turned the corner.

Pumpkin was attacking some random guy, a girl was screaming as her eyes were shut tightly, another guy was screaming as he attempted to avoid the... floor? And another girl was yelling curses, gripping an empty box. The crackling noises came from pop-its scattered all over the floor. I shot down and grabbed Pumpkin urgently, hoisting her up. "BAD DOG!!!" I hollered, and I froze as soon as I spotted Aquamarine shooting me a death glare from across the hall. I tightened my grip on Pumpkin, and dashed back to the dorm as fast as I could.
