Part Three

After the performance, Phillipa found herself more exhausted than before, but, she couldn't focus on this. She had to get back to work. She was making her way back to the kitchen to get an order for one of her tables when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She jumped back fast, turning to look who it was. She expected to see George, but, it wasn't it was someone completely different.

"Hi, sorry about scaring you, I didn't mean to..." He told her somewhat awkwardly. Yet Phillipa felt her heart start to beat faster, because she knew who this was, she could hardly believe it.

"It's alright, really... I'm just kind of, jumpy..." She replied, sounding even more awkward than he did.

He smiled at her, nodding. "Okay, I just wanted to tell you, your performance was really amazing."

Phillipa looked at him completely flabbergasted, 'what did he just say? Does he really think I'm that good?' She thought, her mind was swirling as the thought of someone thinking that just in general, but him.

"Thank you... I really appreciate that." was all she could manage to get out. And he was still smiling at her, she was being so weird and awkward, yet, he smiled at her.

"I also wanted to ask you something." He started and Phillipa got a weird feeling in her stomach. He was going to turn out to be some kind of pervert, wasn't he? So she got ready to stand her ground, but, what happened she hadn't expected at all, "I was wondering if you might want to come audition for my show?"

"N- yes, yes, I would love to." She told him a smile starting to grow on her face. This was amazing, he wasn't a pervert. Thank god.

"Really, that's great." He said sweetly, he took out a card from his wallet. "Come here tomorrow with a song to sing." He told her extending the card to her, that beautiful smile still on his face.

"Yes, of course, thank you so much."

"No, thank you." He replied. "I'll see you tomorrow-"

"Phillipa." She filled in.

"Phillipa..." He repeated like he was trying out how it would sound coming from his own lips, then smiled again. "I'll see you tomorrow Phillipa."

All through the rest of the day, she could hardly believe her luck, someone wanted her. She felt like she was walking on air, so much so that she didn't mind that her boss made her stay late to clean up, everything felt like it was going right for once.

She wondered what this musical might be about, who she would get to play, and just like that she was in a beautiful day dream which lasted her until she got home.

"What're you smiling about?" George asked disgruntled manner as he walked into the kitchen where Phillipa was cooking dinner.

"Today was just very nice." She told him dreamily.

"Well good for you, but some people didn't get their breakfast because someone decided not to make it."

"Oh I am so sorry baby..." she said turning from chopping the vegetables to look at him. "I really am, it was so stupid of me to do that, but to make it up to you I'm making your favorite and super special dessert."

"We'll see..." he said in grumbly manner.

"And I have some really exciting news." She said as she turned back to making dinner.

"And What is that?" George asked suspiciously as he got a beer out of the fridge.

"I'll tell you at dinner Georgie." She said, a smile still plastered on her face.

George grumbled something as he walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. But Phillipa really didn't mind that he was all grumpy, her day was couldn't be sullied so quickly.

Phillipa came out of the kitchen with two plate not too long after their conversation. She set George's meal down in front of him: steak, potatoes and green beans. Phillipa then sat next to him, setting her own meal down: potatoes and green beans.

"Are you gonna tell me why the hell you do smiley?" George asked setting down his beer as he picked up his fork in knife ready to eat.

"Well you know how I've stopped going to auditions, cause it takes up so much time and such..?" She asked avoiding eyes contact with him.

"Yeah." Was all he responded and when he didn't say more Phillipa took this as sign to continue:

"Well, when I was at work today, someone whose putting on a musical saw my performance and said they wanted me to come audition." She explained, deciding it'd be best to leave out the fact the person who approached her was a man.

"And what did you tell this person?"

"Well I said that I'd go... It's tomorrow, I just have to have a song and I already know what I'll sing."

"Fine. Fine, but if they don't want you, don't come crying to me about it."

"I won't, I promise." She said finally looking up at him, a smile growing on her face. "Thank you so much George."

"Yeah, well you owe me." He told her before taking a bite of steak.

"I know baby, I was thinking I could start making it up to you tonight..." she told him in soft voice.

George nodded. "Good." Was all he said and that was the end of the conversation.

Phillipa was so nervous, she hadn't been to an audition in months and now she couldn't stop thinking about messing up. She kept replaying it in her head over and over again. Maybe she shouldn't be here, this is a bad idea, she's going to fail-

"Phillipa Soo?" A woman asked coming into the room.

"That's me." Phillipa responded, pushing herself up from her chair, now realizing her legs were shaking.

"They're ready for you in there." She told her with a sweet smile.

"Okay, thank you." She said a nervous smiled on her lips as headed to the stage.

'Don't walk too fast..' she thought to herself. 'Don't walk too slow... don't talk too loud- or too quiet... okay, okay.. breathe...' she thought as she made her way down stage.

"Hello." Lin said once she stopped, a warm smile on his face.

Phillipa felt her whole body warm up and she couldn't help but smile back, Wow he was so calming. "Hello, I'm Phillipa Soo."

"I'm glad you could make it." Lin said happily.

"Me too..."

Once she actually got on to the stage, things seemed to go much better for her. She didn't know weather it was because was now in 'preforming mode' or if it was because of the calming smile Lin had on his face. Either way, it went well, honestly it was the best audition she'd ever had. So she felt fairly happy when she left, no painful knot in her stomach that would linger on for days.

No, she felt happy. Things were looking up, she just knew it.
