Hosting Death For Dinner

Hey, everyone!!! June had been a traumatic and anxiety-filled month and I got sick the last few days so I had no time to update even though I had prepared the chapter. So, to apologize I will post a double update!

I want to say a huge thank you to all who are reading and have read, voted and kudos this story in-between updates. And in general, the reads, votes and kudos on all of my stories!

Hope you like the chapter!

On Wednesday Slater told her that Rose and Trevor were in town wanting to check in with them about acquiring everything for the sacrifice. And they would be at his house in the afternoon.

And as expected they were, Slater had prepared a dinner table with Elena and smiled hellos at them as they entered the house with dessert and wine in hand.

After spending two hours catching up and regaling Elena with old stories from their shared and not shared pasts it was time to get down to business. According to Rose, Elijah was waiting for their news if they tracked down the doubleganger.

"Send him a confirmation, does he want proof?" Elena asked as she stood up by a white part of Slater's wall and got ready for her close-up.

"It wouldn't hurt." Trevor agreed as he took the picture, Elena smiling softly at the camera.

"And sent!" Rose exclaimed once she received the picture from Trevor and composed an email.

In no time her phone binged and they saw an answer;

"Will be in town in two days."

"And the ducks are getting into the row." Elena exclaimed sighing.

Two days later, Elena having told her friends the news, she was with Rose and Trevor at wooded area, in the ruins of an old plantation, waiting for Elijah. Elena was sitting at the opened truck of Trevor's car finishing and re-reading a draft of an English essay she had to hand in on Monday.

Unaware that Elijah had arrived and was watching them. Trevor was eating an apple nervously while Rose was texting Slater a play by play and Slater was trying to keep her calm.

"How can you do homework at a time like this?" Trevor asked her genuinely surprised and Elena smiled sadly.

"I could do my homework under constant threat of my life before, for me it's been another Friday." Elena said sadly as she brought the memories of the amount of times she couldn't focus on her homework as Marilena because her island was under aerial invasions by Turkey and Greek F16s were chasing Turkish F16s away from their aerial space, causing fires on roofs and greenery areas, parks and schools and breaking the sound barrier causing her ears to be in pain even sometimes bleed as the windows and walls shook.

Her earliest memory as baby was the sound of the sound barrier breaking and the window above her crib rattling and her experiencing the unfamiliar then pain of her ears. Elijah recognized the haunted stare, something horrifying had happened to her.

Trevor looked disappointed and gently patted her shoulder.

"I'm sorry you have to go through this, kid." Trevor said softly and Elena nodded and wiped a few tears before she focused on her paper and Trevor asked about it.

"I have to write about a TV show or an episode of a TV show that has impacted me greatly." Elena explained and Trevor looked intrigued asking her to continue.

"I'm choosing to write about this TV show I used to watch...the entire premise is about an alien with two hearts and time and space travelling box. This alien's name is the Doctor and he frequently visits our planet and gets companions, humans who travel with him, experiencing amazing things! It's this episode where two alien species invade earth, the Cybermen and Daleks. The humans send out an SOS to the Doctor but he doesn't receive it or doesn't answer, we never know what happened. There was this scene that impacted me, Gwen, an agent of this agency called TORCHWOOD, an agency supposedly protecting humans from aliens and aliens from humans, is holding a child under a shelter as Cyberman and Daleks fire above them. A woman asks her because everyone knows she has worked with the Doctor before, asks her where is he and if he comes to save them. And Gwen looks at her and in disappointment says that; no she doesn't think so because humans and aliens were so cruel right now that would we caused him shame. So much shame he had to look away. It made me think about how far humanity will go against their fear of the unknown and the new. I analyze it here on this paper." Elena explained with passion in her voice as Trevor listened to her impressed.

"And that will be allowed in school?" Rose asked as she had been listening in and was impressed too.

"No, idea! My teacher didn't give us restrictions and she's pretty liberal in the political department, so I don't know...hoping it's okay because I finished the ink in my home's printer printing out this draft. I owe Jenna to buy the new patch." Elena said hopefully and the two nodded.

"Well, hopefully she takes it!" Trevor said encouragingly and Elena smiled happily.

"Do you have another favorite episode from your TV show?" Rose asked making conversation and Elena's eyes sparkled with excitement.

"The Van Gogh episode! The Doctor and his future mother in law, he has no idea yet that she's that, travel to meet Van Gogh after he painted an alien monster in his painting that Amelia and him saw at a art exhibit. And Vincent is the only one seeing the alien. Turned out Van Gogh is a prophet essentially some at the fandom say he's a descended of the Doctor and I believe it too. Anyways, after that the following two episodes are part two and three, I love them too. We see how the Doctor and his friends end the universe and restart it! It's chaotic and funny! No matter how many times I rewatch these episodes and the season. To see Shakespeare being interviewed by the lead singer of the Rolling Stones on Good Morning Roman Empire it's top comedy to me!" Elena rambled so excited and happy to be able to talk about it.

Rose and Trevor seemed impressed by the plot and Elijah hearing it seemed equally impressed.

In all honesty, Elena had no idea if Doctor Who had aired these episodes yet she vaguely remembers that they were around either 2012 or 2013 and it was still 2010. If asked she would say it was an Anime or Manga she thought it would be very unlikely a teacher would cross-reference.

Elijah thought it was the time to make an appearance.

"He's here!" Rose exclaimed tensing up and Elena gathered her stuff in her bag and stood up.

"Rose, Trevor." Elijah greeted in his usual manner and Elena studied him slightly tense, she tried to pretend she was afraid of him but something in her eyes showed him she wasn't afraid of him. Nervous of him yes!

"Elijah." Both Rose and Trevor nodded their body language showed they were ready to piss their pants.

"I'm Elena Gilbert, nice to meet you." Elena spoke bravely and offered her hand for a handshake and to show her heartbeat to him. He felt her heartbeat and he looked mesmerized.

Ah shit! He was in love with a doubleganger...shittttt!

It will hurt when she breaks it to him she is only going to love and maybe marry Finn if he says yes.

"I'm Elijah Mikaelson, it's very nice to meet you." Elijah said back and Elena smiled.

"So, onto business?" Elena asked as she tried to make Elijah stop staring at her with heart eyes, it felt wrong and uncomfortable...like her brother watching her naked! Yuck!

"Oh! So, you know?" Elijah asked surprised and Elena nodded.

"I have been told what my purpose is, yes, but I have two questions; one can't the whole ritual happen with my blood but not fresh from the vein, is there a kilogram that it's required? And if that's not the case is there a way for me not to die for long?" Elena asked with business tone which made Trevor to huff amused because Elijah's face was truly picture-worthy!

Elijah's face was surprised and finding it endearing.

"There's some ways to not keep you dead for long but I'm sorry to say this, there's no kilogram to be sufficient for the sacrifice, you need to die." Elijah told her with small disappointment in his tone.

"Okay, what are those?" Elena asked a bit disappointed.

"You really expect me to reveal every ace in my sleeve?" Elijah asked amused and Elena shook her head no.

"No, but as Rose said, I have everything ready for Klaus. I have a vampire and werewolf ready all acquired by my friends Trevor and Rose. You grant their freedom and your brother gets to be his whole self. He only has to have a witch strong enough for the ritual." Elena bargained strongly and in that moment she felt something behind her and there was a whisper in her mind;

"We are with you, Marilena, don't be afraid."

Those voices were of her ancestors both Petrova and Dimitriadou!

"Again, I'm surprised!"

"Grant Trevor and Rose their freedom and make sure that no one else in my family gets hurt in exchange for me, the moonstone, the werewolf and vampire, deal or no deal?" Elena asked more sure of herself since she knew if the vampire before tried anything she could use her full strength magic-wise.

"Or what? What would you possible be able to do if I refuse and just take you and your offerings?" Elijah challenged her.

"You die." A voice spoke behind them and Elena turned around to see her grandma, her grandma Marilena who she was named after in her first life.

She had died when she was eighteen, two days after her birthday. Her grandmothers were the only ones who cared and loved her.

"Who are you?" Elijah asked surprised.

"Elena's grandmother, if you don't make a deal, we will end you. Not caring if the entire species goes with you. Don't forget Petrova blood runs in your veins, our blood made you a vampire." Grandma Marilena spoke strongly. It was so odd to Elena to hear her grandmother speak anything but Greek. She had heard her speak Swedish, German, Turkish and French but never English.

Elijah seemed to be thinking about his options for awhile before he agreed. He granted Trevor and Rose their freedoms and told Elena he would be in touch, he had to speak with Klaus, let him know of the new developments.

Elena nodded and smiled at her grandmother who nodded and then started walking away until she dematerialized.

Returning to Slater's house Rose and Trevor hugged Elena and Slater thanking them and they bid their goodbyes. Rose and Trevor said they will be in touch with them both throughout the years.

Elena tiredly climbed the stairs to her room when she felt her phone vibrating and checked it to see a text from Stefan asking her where she disappeared to today. Elena quickly texted that she had a lot of homework to catch up on and she had stayed inside to finish it before locking the phone.

Entering her room she saw Finn waiting for her, his face was concerned and sad.

"You met my brother, Elijah." Finn stated and Elena nodded as she shut the door and lock it.

"I saw the way he looks at you." Finn said sadly and a bit jealous and Elena nodded tiredly.

"He was in love with a doubleganger before me." Elena stated sadly and Finn nodded as he followed her to the bathroom where she started to wash her hands and taking off her makeup.

"Yes, he was. Twice if I'm not mistaken, Tatia and Katerina were their names." Finn replied with a defeated tone and Elena stared at him through the mirror.

"I'm yours, Finn. I love you not Elijah or Stefan. I want you to be my husband and my endgame, my forever. You don't have to worry about where my loyalty lies. I love Stefan as a friend. I don't feel anything for Elijah besides curiosity and a bit of sadness because the guy keeps torturing himself by falling in love with women who manipulate him and leave him behind." Elena stated passionately and turned to face him. Her eyes genuine and soft.

Finn grasped her hands and kissed the knuckles and then hugged her.

"Thank you." Finn mumbled and Elena just squeezed him inside their embrace.

They broke the embrace and Elena went to have a shower and as every night she climbed on to bed where Finn was waiting for her.

"Quick and random questions; what are you comfortable wearing at night? Like are you a semi-naked kinda a guy or wearing pjs-kinda guy?" Elena asked as she applied some hand moisturizer and Finn seemed to actually think about it.

"I have tried both but I feel pjs makes me feel more secure and safe." Finn said deep in thoughts and Elena nodded.

"That's interesting! I can't feel safe if I'm not covered by a sheet or blanket no matter how hot it gets." Elena added and Finn nodded agreeing with her.

After that she filled him in on her day and how Finn had been at the sight and didn't like Elijah's look and Elena agreed. Soon sleep took them both.

What do you think about this chapter? Do you like it? How do you think the meeting with Klaus will go? And what do you think about Elijah's and Elena's meeting?
