; epilogue

"FIVE MORE MINUTES, Daddy? Please?"

He lowly chuckled, patting the girl's head. "Okay, honey. Five more minutes."

Dark lazily watched the little girl scamper off and back into the park, squealing happily. A small smile was on his face, and he sighed as he leaned back against the park bench. Five minutes later, the male stood and called her over.

"Mary, time to go home," he softly said, and the girl came running back with a pout. She hopefully looked up into her father's eyes, jutting out her little lower lip.

"Five more minutes? Please, Daddy?" she softly begged again, tilting her head. The male sighed and smiled, ruffling a gentle hand through the girl's hair that made her giggle.

"Fine, fine," he softly chuckled. The girl yelped in victory and scurried back off. The male sat back down, his old bones softly popping as he groaned.

He leaned against the bench again, watching his daughter with loving, tired eyes. The sun was slowly beginning to set. Birds chirped and flew up ahead and a soft breeze lightly rustled the leaves. The grass was a nice, dark green, housing many small lives.

Another five minutes passed, and Dark and Mary did the same little routine. He told her that five minutes was up, and the girl asked for another five minutes, to which she received. This went on for a while—until the sun was almost fully sunken down into the horizon.

And a woman sitting beside Dark noticed this. Her brows were slightly furrowed with confusion, and she looked over at the other.

"Excuse me, sir... but... why do you keep letting her play? It's been many 'five minutes' later." She softly chuckled at the end of her sentence, a soft sign to inform the other she intended no rudeness.

Dark smiled and sighed, letting his eyes stray from the little girl for a little while. He looked at the woman, tired eyes gleaming softly. She was a young one—maybe about the age Dark was when he left to go to Source.

"Well... a few years ago, I lost someone that was very very close to me." Dark softly sighed at the memory, closing his eyes for a moment. He looked off in the distance, a faint smile on his lips.

"I'd moved away from my home—from him—and didn't come back for years. I never gave him a call, never visited him..." He looked at the woman with a pained smile. "And when I came back to see him, well... It was... too late."

He softly shook his head. "And so I let my little girl play all she wants. I don't care how long we'll stay somewhere as long as she's having fun or we're spending time with each other... because..."

Dark softly sighed, smiling. "I'd give anything to spend five more minutes with my love."
