Chapter 10
Small contest at the bottom for anyone interested!
Third person pov
To Class 1-A, Touya Todoroki is an unknown threat. They had little to no information on the guy, knowing only that he was a jackass who had a powerful quirk. Worse, he'd attacked their summer camp. His blue flames were something many could relate to the trauma they'd experienced there. He'd helped kidnap one of their classmates, and had almost killed a few others. Knowing that he was a Todoroki did nothing to calm them, though they were glad someone like Takashi was watching him. It was a relief to know he'd be under constant supervision.
Shoto was another odd thing, though not dangerous like his brother. It was a first for many to see him so happy. He seemed content and relieved that his brother was back, as though he knew something about him they didn't. And hey, maybe he did. They were brothers after all. Still, they were unsure. Even as Todoroki came all but bounding into the cafeteria with a small smile on his face, they couldn't shake their unease of Touya. Maybe Shoto had seen the better side of the scarred man, but they sure as shit hadn't.
Izuku looked up as Shoto approached, having sensed it naturally as any soulmate might. The half-and-half boy crouched down to mutter something to him, looking excited as he pulled back. Izuku only had to half force a smile. Seeing Shoto so overjoyed for once made his heart soar. It made the freckled teen feel like he was doing emotional back flips in the best way possible. Just to see Shoto smiling so easily in front of everyone was a load off his chest. Though he did fear Touya to an extent, he also couldn't help but feel grateful to him.
Shoto all but dragged his soulmate out of the cafeteria, taking the boy's tray in one hand and his wrist in the other. Izuku just let it happen. He didn't mind, and seldom was Shoto ever this bold and outright with his moves. The second they stepped out, he immediately began to talk. This was probably the most surprising thing that had happened all day. You see, Shoto didn't just... talk. He was relatively quiet and blunt, giving his opinion whether you wanted it or not. His words were often-times perceived as harsh or just downright rude to those who didn't know him.
Izuku listened to his soulmate explain that Takashi and Touya were actually soulmates, and that Takashi had figured it out their relationship just by looking at them. Izuku had gone slack-jawed at that, and then red in the face when Shoto laced their fingers together and sped up, claiming readily that he had something else to tell him, but that it couldn't be here. Izuku almost went tense as a dead fish. He wasn't sure what was happening, and his mind mildly struggled to process all the information intake. Not to mention he was mildly terrified of being in a room with just Touya, Mr. Takashi, and Shoto.
He knew this was coming, though. It was only natural Shoto would want to let his long lost brother in on the secret. With how happy he was to see the man, how could he not? Izuku just hadn't expected the other party to figure it out so soon. Then again, Takashi and Touya were apparently soulmates too. Izuku had... never really seen another pair of soulmates before. Maybe this would be good, then. He almost never knew how to act around Shoto and was unsure in everything he did. That being said, Touya was a criminal...
Shoto opened the door to the room they'd be eating in, and they were met by the sight of Takashi sitting sideways in Touya's lap, both of them singing along to "Hips Don't Lie" By Shakira as it played on one of their phones. And really, that's all it took for Izuku's doubts to wash away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lunch was an exciting affair for Izuku and Shoto. For one thing, Izuku had decided that he loved and adored both Touya and Takashi with every fiber of his being. Of course, he naturally loved Shoto more, but you get it. He liked Shoto's brother and his brother's soulmate. A lot. Touya and Takashi had welcomed him to the family with excited hugs and unobtainable grins, and the former had apologized for what happened and explained, and then clued in Izuku on the fact that Takashi would be fighting for custody over Shoto and for medical reign over Rei Todoroki.
Izuku had been skeptical going in. The whole Shakira thing had been reassuring in an odd way, but it didn't diminish his fears completely. Most of his doubts concerning how safe Touya was had faded away in that moment, but he was still just the slightest bit afraid. Yeah, that didn't last. Touya was an odd guy. He and Takashi had the weirdest dynamic that he'd ever seen, but he'd also never seen two people more deeply in love and comfortable around each other. It made him realize that he wanted that with Shoto, and that Touya and Takashi were possibly the best men on the planet at the moment.
Assuming their soulmate status was a secret, he made a mental note not to mention it unless it was just himself and Shoto in private, or with the other party in question there. After all the serious talk as through, it was all stories about Shoto when he was younger, the joyful memories Shoto had of Touya, and how Takashi and Touya met. The story was endearing in a heartbreaking yet inspiring way. It's what truly made Izuku in awe of them. By the look on his face, Shoto felt the same was as he held hands with Izuku under the table.
Izuku hadn't been able to stop himself, really. He'd tried. A lot. But it happened nonetheless. He asked about their quirks. First he'd asked about Takashi's, nerves creeping heavily into his voice. Takashi was the more cheerful of the two, so he seemed safest. Touya was more of a laid back sort of person. He took things relatively in stride when it came to his brown-haired soulmate, and was just really easy-going, which was a bold contrast to his scowls in class and unsure fidgeting.
Takashi had explained his quirk in as much detail as possible. To Izuku's surprise, Touya joined in. He reminded Takashi of some things that had happened, and gave a dramatic re-telling of the time Takashi had body slammed a man three times his size to the ground with murder in his eyes and skin red as blood. He told it with a sense of humor and theatrical flare that left Izuku and Shoto both laughing. Takashi's occasional commentary only made it all the better.
Lunch ended, and they invited Izuku to join them next time as they exited the room. Izuku certainly felt lighter. He and Shoto entered 1-A talking excitedly in low voices, Touya and Takashi trailing behind. Takashi was radiating joy, giving Touya one last peck on the cheek before bouncing into the room full of fairly nervous teens. Save for Izuku and Shoto. Most of the two boys' classmates looked surprised to see them alive and just fine. Moreover, smiling and talking like they'd just got back from Disney World. Even Touya looked more relaxed, a small smile on his face as he sunk back into his desk.
The fact of the matter was that people did not like Touya Todoroki. They didn't know him, they didn't want to know him, and they desperately wished he'd go away. So imagine their relief when school ended and they were finally able to scramble their way back to the dorms to convene in the common room for a chat about what to do, how to act, and such of the like. Also imagine their surprise and complete, utter horror when Aizawa entered with Takashi and an uncertain Touya trailing behind.
"You can't be serious." Jiro's tone was flat as she addressed their homeroom teacher. Aizawa looked about as tired and done as they all felt, save for Shoto and Izuku. Izuku gave a shy but excited wave that Takashi returned with vigor and joy. Touya could feel his soulmate's exuberance and anticipation. He was happy to be here, and hopeful. Touya leeched off that without shame, honestly. He was so worried he'd fuck up that he'd take any form of comfort he could get. One thing was for sure, he'd never be able to this if Takashi weren't here.
"I'm serious." Aizawa said in a tone just as dry as the girl's had been. "It's been finalized by the principal that he and Takashi will be sharing a room, so you don't have to worry about him being alone. It was also decided to be on the boy's side of the building, across from Midoriya and Todoroki. I expect you to treat them civilly. He's a student too, now."
"That's right! I'm here to protect you from him should I need to, but keep in mind that I'm also supposed to protect him from you if it comes to it." Takashi's tone somehow managed to have an undertone of warning to it while still being just as happy and outgoing as it usually was. The threat was clear though. Touch him, get smashed through a wall. It was the same for Touya, though. That they were positive of. They were relieved it went both ways.
"B-But Mr. Aizawa!" Mineta was sweating bullets. "He tried to kill us! What if he does it again?"
"You could just ask. I'm right here." Touya said blandly, causing pretty much the entirety of 1-A to flinch. Bakugo was once again oddly silent, fuming from where he was leaned up against the wall. The glare he shot at Touya was nothing short of completely and totally venomous. Nothing but hate there, then. "And I'm not going to kill any of you. Besides the fact that you're children, you're also friends with my brother. I wouldn't do that to him or anyone else."
Everyone turned to Shoto at that. He looked like a little boy who'd just gotten praise, not quite smiling, but still gazing at Touya with shining eyes. The scarred man huffed slightly, scuffing his boot on the ground. Takashi swooped in to save him from the awkward silence and stares, sensing his unease and anxiety in a heartbeat.
"Besides, he's horrible had hand-to-hand combat." Takashi grabbed Touya's arm and held it up. The scarred man didn't protest, though he did look away sourly. "And if you look here, this stops him from using his quirk."
Plenty seemed to relax at this, but not by much.
"So... So we have to share a living space with him?" Mina avoided looking at Touya nervously. Aizawa sighed through his nose, frowning at his students. Whether the kids realized it or not, they were beginning to cower and huddle together. It made his heart ache more than he'd ever dare admit to see them so uncomfortable and fearful. He glanced down at Takashi to see that his smile hadn't faltered. Still, he'd definitely noticed.
"He won't hurt you." Shoto said simply. It drew attention to him. He sounded absolutely sure of himself, and Touya flashed him a smile. He adored his little brother. Shoto was too good for the life he'd been forced to live, and it made Touya's heart heavier. He felt the back of Takashi's hand brush against his comfortingly, and he took a deep breath. They'd get him, and it would be okay.
"Y-Yeah." Izuku pitched in, surprising a lot of people. He smiled nervously. "I uh- I g-got to talk to him a lot during lunch, a-and... he's a pretty cool guy."
"What the f-" Bakugo was cut off by Kirishima, who shook his head. The explosive blonde settled for glowering and gritting his teeth.
"Ironic." Touya's lips quirked (WHEEZE) up into an amused smile. "Seeing as I have a fire quirk."
"Hey, you dissed me for making that same joke!" Takashi whined. A lot of people were taken aback by Touya's ability to uh... well, have a sense of humor. Even if the joke was sort of horrible, it was still a joke. It even earned a small sputter from Ochako and snort from Sero, who hid it with a cough. Aizawa looked like he wanted to die. Truly, nobody could blame him for that.
"No, yours was different. And you're a grown man." Touya shrugged. Takashi's cheeks puffed out in protest, and Touya resisted the urge to pinch them. Takashi had a soft face. Well, he was soft in general, excusing the times he was planting ladles in the wall and judo-flipping idiotic assholes.
"You're a grown man too." Takashi pointed out. Touya shrugged again, feeling his nerves climb in the realization that yes, they still had an audience. One that was staring at them like they were insane. That was valid. Seeing what they thought to be a murderer make cringey jokes was probably a little mind-boggling. He wondered what they'd think if they knew he borrowed it from his cute little husband who doubled as his soulmate.
"Y-You know... he's married." Momo said quietly, earning surprised looks from her classmates. "If someone married him, how bad can he be?"
"What?" Takashi gasped loudly. "You're married?!"
Izuku looked ready to laugh. Shoto was no better.
"Sorry I didn't tell you." Touya snorted. Aizawa looked even more done than he had a moment ago. Everyone's gaze dropped to the ring on Touya's finger. He held it up proudly. Takashi had his on a necklace. Working with kids was messy, and he didn't want to lose it, so he kept it on a chain. Maybe he could start wearing it on his hand again. Though his was a little big for his little hands. Touya thought that was adorable.
"Touya, come with me. Tsukauchi wants to ask some more questions. Takashi, I suggest you take this chance to go get some of your things. And Touya's, seeing as he can't leave to get them himself." Aizawa said, glancing back at them briefly before giving his attention to the class. "The rest of you adjust to the idea that Touya is going to live here, because he is. This was your fair warning."
"Get my pillow." Touya said as they turned. "And the blanket with the cats on it. Not the blue one on the couch, but the other. Snacks too."
A few people gaped at that as the two men trailed off after Aizawa and out of the dorms. Touya laced his fingers with Takashi's the second they were out of sight. Takashi squeezed back comfortingly. "I'll get socks." Takashi noted. "A lot of socks. And I can't believe you're married! Are you cheating on me?"
"I am." Touya sighed. "He's a great guy, though. Way better than you. He's super cute and soft, and has the prettiest green eyes. And his brown hair is sort of a mess but in a good way. He also has the most adorable smile. His name is Takashi. No offense, but I may leave you for him. That's just how the cookie crumbles."
"He sounds amazing, so I guess I can't even be mad." Takashi allowed cheerfully. "Oh- soap. Did you want me to bring the milkshake scented stuff?"
"No, it smells too accurate. But get me clothes. Nothing too colorful. I have a reputation as a heinous child killer to uphold here." Touya grinned at him. Aizawa snorted to himself. How had they ever thought this idiot was a villain? Seriously, all he did was awe over his husband and make horrible jokes only he and Takashi found funny.
"I think you ruined that when you asked for your cat blanket in front of everyone." Takashi admitted. Touya shrugged, bending down and pressing a kiss to his lips before Takashi was bouncing off towards the gates. Touya watched him go with a small smile, his hands shoved in his pockets. Aizawa waited patiently for him to stop staring before before bringing it up.
"A few parents want to meet you and Takashi tomorrow." Aizawa said. Touya almost choked. "Logically. I suggest you be prepared."
Ah, Touya was missing his husband already.
