Chapter 1
Third person pov
Touya hadn't been allowed to leave the League at first, which he knew probably made Takashi all the more upset. Not only was the brunette probably pissed off, he was probably crying and worrying himself into the ground as well. Those thoughts alone made Touya's heart clench as he shuffled off towards the small apartment they shared. What they had wasn't much, but it was nice and it was cozy, and it was home.
The heroes had come to save the explosive brat they stole, which saved "Dabi" from having to spring the dumb kid himself. Thank God for that distraction. Touya had booked it. He'd gotten out of there was fast as he possibly could. He missed his soulmate, their time apart making him feel irritable and desperate. He just wanted hugs and love, which he knew he wouldn't be getting upon re-entering their home.
He was okay with dying at Takashi's hand. Touya adored him too much to be mad about it. Of course, he'd never say that. He portrayed himself a certain way. He had a reputation to keep up, after all! He was the calm, cool, collected one in the relationship. Takashi was the bubbly, erratic, joyful one. It was an odd dynamic, but it worked beautifully for them.
He pulled out his keys painstakingly slow. Just... how mad would Takashi be? He preferred death over the silent treatment, which he'd luckily only had to suffer through once... for five minutes. Takashi was constantly making noise was all! He hummed, and mumbled, and sung, and talked. He snorted, and laughed, and made the smallest snoring noises when he slept. Hearing him fall dead silent... it had been nothing short of absolutely terrifying.
He took a deep breath and prepared for the worst as he jammed his key in the lock. Shoving one of his hands in his pockets, he hunched over in a defeated sort of way as he resigned himself to his fate. He stepped into the house, tentatively raising his head to try and spot the man he missed so dearly. Because just... fuck, being away from your soulmate was rough.
The apartment was cool in contrast to the hot air outside, and the smell of something cooking immediately wafted under his nose. He felt his mouth water as he carefully shut the door, eyes searching for Takashi. It was too quiet in here for him not to have heard Touya come in, and he knew that. It only solidified the fact that he was absolutely going to get his knee caps shattered and his neck snapped.
"Taka?" He called out hesitantly, feeling rather antsy. He frowned, his staples pulling against his skin in protest.
"Ah, so you finally decided to come home." Touya jumped about a foot in the air, whirling around to face his husband. When had he gotten so close? How? "I saw some pretty interesting stuff on the news while you were away."
The relief and joy he'd felt wash over him upon seeing the short, clearly-unhappy brunette faded immediately into something closer to panic. Maybe some desperation too, but it was hard to tell.
"Taka, babe, I swear it isn't what it looks like." He blurted out quickly. He had the sudden urge to scratch at his scars, but resisted. This was no time for nervous tics. "I- fuck. I had no idea, and... and..."
"You said you were on a chain delivery job!" Takashi's green eyes narrowed, and he pointed his ladle up at the scarred man threateningly. "You lied! What are you, some sort of villain now?! You've got every police officer and hero in this country looking for you, Touya!"
He winced, guilt welling up inside him. Man, he fucked up big this time. "I'm sorry, babe. I swear I had no idea what I was going into. I was an idiot. I am an idiot." He spewed it all out quickly. He felt his chest tighten when he saw the tears in his soulmate's eyes. God, he made him cry?! What kind of soulmate was he? He was a criminal, and he was putting Takashi in danger by extension. Man, Touya had enemies. And if they knew he had a soulmate...
Takashi wasn't just mad because of Bakugo Katsuki. He was pissed off because Touya had not only lied, but he'd left Takashi alone to worry. What was the brunette supposed to think? It had been nearly five days since they last spoke! Takashi had last seen his husband standing in a forest engulfed by blue flames, and that was it! The love of his life had gone! Takashi had been afraid... that he wouldn't come back. He hadn't known what to do! Did he go look for Touya? Go crying to the police in a panic?
"Y-You didn't call, you didn't text!" Touya flinched as Takashi stepped closer, glaring tearfully up at him. His skin was beginning to turn scarlet as his quirk activated, the red color bleeding into the green of his eyes. "I thought you'd- you'd left! What was I supposed to think?! Last I saw you, you were on the news, and you'd taken a child. A-And your, your brother was... you..."
Touya stayed silent as Takashi smacked him in the chest with the ladle a few times, his tears spilling over angrily. He had never felt so guilty in his entire life. Watching Takashi struggle to rein his quirk in, knowing he was the one who caused it to activate, broke his heart. Seeing the handle of the ladle he was holding bend in his iron grip and knowing, knowing he'd caused such rage and distress was worse than any punch in the gut.
"You kidnapped... a child." Red eyes glared up at him, and he felt almost as though tears of his own might fall. "And you left me here to wonder if you were ever coming back. I didn't know if you were dead, or-or if you'd just decided you didn't want to be with me-"
Touya was horrified. Takashi had thought... he'd leave?
"Whoa, okay, honey." Touya gripped him by the shoulders before he could continue. The ladle's handle snapped. He pretended not to notice as he gazed into the crimson eyes of his soulmate, who was breathing heavily as his quirk riled him up more and more. "I would never leave you, you hear me? No matter what I do, or what I say, or where I go, I will never, ever leave you. You hear me? I love you so damn much, Taka, and I'm a piece of shit for making you worry, and for helping take that kid."
Taka stared at Touya, who held his breath. He was absolute shit with words. He spewed them out without thinking, and they didn't always have the desired effect. In this case however, he didn't know what to do. He couldn't just kiss Taka and hope he didn't get there of his ribs broken in response.
Taka didn't know what to do either. He was angry, and relieved, and just wanted to melt into Touya's arms and cry. Being mad at your soulmate wasn't easy. The connection they held forced Taka to feel Touya's remorse, and to know that he really was sorry. Looking into his turquoise eyes, Taka knew he wasn't lying. He really hadn't had a clue what he was getting into. Still, Touya was a wanted man. He was a criminal, and his scars made him all the more recognizable.
Taka took a deep breath, willing his quirk to simmer down as he brought up a hand and grasped one of Touya's wrists. The scarred man looked nervous, and nobody could much blame him. Taka frowned. What were they supposed to do? Everyone in the whole of Japan had to knew his face by now. Leaving the country wasn't something they could realistically do either. This was their home! They didn't want to leave. But Touya couldn't safely go outside, because he'd kidnapped a child and-
Touya's eyes widened as Taka let out a frustrated hiss, grabbing his wrist. He barely had time to prepare himself as his tiny, 5'3" soulmate judo flipped him right over his shoulder in a fit of justified rage. He landed on his back with a small "oomph" as the air left his body. Taka immediately dissolved into an angry rant as he stomped back to the kitchen, throwing the broken ladle so hard it embedded itself in a wall. Touya just laid there, staring at the ceiling and catching his breath.
"I just can't believe you! Kidnapping, Touya?! You kidnapped a child! And you didn't even call! No texts?! Did you even get the cat photos I sent you?!" The sound of clanging pots came from the kitchen as Touya pushed himself into a sitting position, blinking. That wasn't as bad as it could have been. He was alive, and none of his bones were broken. That had been terrifying, however. Facing off against Eraserhead was less scary.
"And what are we going to do about you?! You can't become a recluse! I want to go drinking and dancing, but you know what would happen if we tried?!" Another clang came. "A SWAT team would appear out of thin air! Ruin the whole mood!"
Touya pulled himself up off the ground, cracking his back. Taka appeared in the doorway, his skin back to its usual tone. His eyes, however, remained scarlet. He pointed a wooden spoon at him threateningly. "Even worse, you're hot! Super attractive! At least if it was me it would be vague. 'Short pale guy with brown hair and green eyes!' All I would need would be contacts! Just contacts, Touya!"
Touya winced, shuffling over as Taka disappeared into the kitchen again. He followed. "'m sorry." He said quietly, watching his husband fume and bustle around the kitchen. God, Touya was married! To his soulmate! And he'd done this shit? He'd just about ruined their lives. He should have been thinking of Taka, and nothing else.
"Yeah, you better be." Takashi huffed, though his eyes had returned to their original leafy color. Touya sagged with relief.
"I'll do anything to make it up to you, honey. Anything." He swore. He almost wanted to laugh. What would that Shigaraki asshole say if he could see Touya, or Dabi, now? Being all domestic with his cute little husband, in their cute little apartment. He almost wanted to laugh. He'd been trying to kill a bunch of teenagers, and he had an adorable soulmate and a home life! What was this?!
"Anything?" Taka cocked his head. Touya felt a shiver go down his spine, and he knew immediately that he was going to regret this. But that didn't matter, because he needed to put Takashi first from now on. Especially after.... that.
"Anything." He confirmed grimly.
