chapter four

Casket Girls

DINAH'S HEAD WAS POUNDING AS SHE GRASPED HER hair tightly. She felt weak, tired, and with all these memories returning to her, she felt betrayed. In her mind, she was finally opening up to a man, and he was just using her.

.. and she didn't like being used.

"I'm so sorry." The girl from the night before, Davina said carefully as her and her friend bent down to comfort the women. "It's the only way that we can break the compulsion."

"Believe me, I know what it's like. You're both okay, and all these notes and signals you made for yourselves, it's very memento of you, nice work." Josh, the friend said to the two sweating women.

"We've been at this all night. I don't understand what's happening to me. I don't understand any of this." Cami said, tears falling down her face as her best friend took her hand.

"I just want to remember everything." Dinah breathed out, memories from here and there flooding her mind.

"You will, I will unlock every stolen memory, undo every piece of mind control that any vampire had ever done to both of you and when i'm done you will understand all of it, and you'll both be free. I can stop if you want me to." Davina explained to them, a look of guilt on her face.

"No." The Levy girl cut in. "No, you have to keep going."

"I want to remember everything." Cami agreed.

... and soon enough, they would.

Davina stood up, nodding her head as she stretched out her arms and continued the spell. Both women held on tighter to each others hands, screaming out in pain as their eyes closed shut. They were both sweating heavily, not able to focus on any one thought or person.

Then, finally, after a few moments, it started to hurt less and less.

"You should start to feel it, like a weight lifting." Davina said to them as she stopped, letting her hands fall to her sides.

Dinah let her body fall against the cold wooden floor, her heart beating rapidly.

Then, she blacked out completely.

WHEN DINAH WOKE UP SHE WAS IN HER BED wearing a new change of clothes. During her black out, she had remembered every moment that Elijah took from her, that Marcel made her forget, and suddenly, Rebekah telling her to stay away made sense. Her mind was in a whirlwind, and she felt... stupid?

"Oh good, you're awake." Davina spoke up as the Levy woman walked out to the kitchen, pressing a cup against her chest. "You need to drink this, it's vervain, you won't get compelled with this."

"Hey, Cami, you don't have any human blood in your fridge, do you?" Josh spoke up awkwardly.

"You're a vampire?" Dinah asked, grasping tightly onto the cup in her hands as she eyed the innocent looking boy.

"Yeah-"

"For crying out loud." Davina interrupted. "Here."

She held up her wrist for her friend to drink, the boy hesitant to take a drink. Dinah kept her eyes on them, taking a sip from her cup as the Claire girl fell back slightly. She was losing her balance, and nobody knew why.

"Davina?" Cami spoke up, standing from her seat.

"Someone is practicing magic, they're trying to find me." The Claire girl informed them, everyone's eyes in the room widening.

"Then we have to run." The O'Connell woman said simply.

... and maybe it was better to just run.

DINAH, DAVINA, AND CAMI WALKED THROUGH the casket girl parade together, all of them watching their surroundings. They needed to get her out of the quarter before the witches or vampires found her. With that being said, things like that tend to be hard when it's just two regular women and a teenage witch.

"There's people everywhere." The young girl spoke up, taking the Levy woman's hand.

The older woman frowned as she held the teens hand, knowing that she must have been scared out of her mind. Hell, she was scared to be walking through the streets after what she had remembered and nobody was chasing after her. A part of her wished she could give the girl a normal life.

"Just keep walking, no one knows it's you." Cami reassured, keeping her eyes laser focused ahead of her.

"Don't tell me-" Dinah's eyes widened at the sight of Klaus Mikaelson walked down the street, the trio of girls all stopping.

"Cami? Dinah?" Davina asked questioningly, not being able to see exactly why they stopped.

"We have to get off this street." Camille replied, pulling them both quickly down the street to the nearest alley.

"Where are we going?" The Levy woman questioned carefully, furrowing her brows as the path they took got closer and closer to the church.

Which made no sense, considering Father Kieran knew everything.

"Where do you think?" Cami asked, all of them speed walking to the church, hoping it would provide them all some form of sanctuary.

They should have known better than that.

"We should keep moving." Davina spoke up as the large double doors closed up. "How long do we have to wait?"

"Give it a few minutes, then we'll go to see if the coast is clear." Cami reassured, each of the women walking to different parts of the room.

Dinah's eyes scanned to the very place her and her parents used to sit. They went more than once a week, and she always felt like they needed it more than her, like they knew something she didn't. After tonight, she felt that even more. What if they knew about vampires just like everyone else did?

"Your phone is ringing." Dinah said out loud, her eyes focused on the pew before her.

"No it is-" Cami stopped upon hearing her phone ring, apprehensively taking it out of her bag before answering. "Josh, sorry I missed your calls. What?"

She put the phone on speaker, and the words, "If she doesn't show Klaus will kill him." Rang in her mind. Was this really who the Mikaelsons were? Stone cold killers presenting the facade of a well mannered and connected family.

"We'll think of something." Cami spoke, trying to reassure the girl, however, there would be no reassuring a teenage girl, wanting to fight for the boy that she loved. "Make your way yo the quarter, stay hidden. We'll text you when we have a plan."

Both women knew that all too well.

Davina started to leave as soon as the phone hung up, Camille catching the girl before she could walk any further.

"I can't let Tim die." She begged, the girl stumbling back again how she had done before.

"What is it?" The Levy woman asked carefully.

"The witches." Davina said to them both, the doors to the church opening up as they all slowly backed away, hearing the women chant.

Sabine was in the front, a woman that Dinah trusted, which all went in vein as the woman swiped her hands, knocking the human women to the ground.

Dinah knocking out for the second time that day.

THE LEVY WOMAN ANGRILY WALKED AROUND the quarter, trying to figure out how in the hell she had gotten herself into such a mess. A few weeks ago, she was a business woman with a good head on her shoulders. Now? She was a loony tunes subtle alcoholic who believed in vampires and witches.

That was a bit too much for her to handle.

"You've been following me for an hour, it's getting creepy, no, it's been creepy." The woman stated, her arms crossed over her chest as she stopped in an abandoned alley.

"I was trying to assure that you'd make it home safely." Elijah spoke up, his suit perfectly tailored as usual, making the woman curse under her breath.

"You mean after being uncompelled and getting my ass handed to me by a bunch of witches? Because I don't call that safe, Elijah." Dinah stepped forward, getting her teeth as she spoke.

Never had she met a man who could make her so angry yet still have her attention.

"... and don't you even try to think about compelling me again. I'm on vervain, meaning I will most certainly not do whatever you want anymore." The Levy woman spoke harshly, her finger now pointing angrily into the mans chest.

"I think I prefer it that way." Elijah said carefully, moving the womans hand from his chest.

"Don't think you can look at me like that and get away with everything you did." Dinah commented, slowly backing away from the brunette man, cocking her hand back to smack him.

He caught it though, letting his hand linger on her arm a bit too long.

"You are going to regret the day you met me, Elijah Mikaelson."

... and maybe he would, but maybe, he wouldn't.
