*The day school starts*

Sophie pov
I wake up to dad shaking my shoulder.

"Come on get up first day of school as a sophomore. "He says.

"Yeah." I say sleepily still not getting up.

"Sophie, come on up it's the first day of school."  He said.

"I'm up." I said. 

I still didn't talk to him about that. But I wanted to today if he came home early and in a good mood. I get into the washroom and get out wearing my clothes. I look at myself in the mirror.

Was it good enough? I thought.

"Yes, Sophie it is good enough you look amazing." Dad said leaning against the door frame.

"How did you know I was thinking that?" I ask.

"It's written all over your face." He said smiling. I nodded.

"Now get down. You don't wanna look the part and end up in the principal's office for being late." He said.

"Yeah, I will be right down just let me get my stuff." I say.

"Alright." He said and rushed down.

I put my stuff in my bag.

"It is a new year Sophie a new start." I say to myself.

A new year without mom. Another year and life is the same with me being a failure and just disappointing everyone.  A voice in my head said.

I brushed it off and put a smile on my face cause  I didn't want dad to know that and rushed down. Dad was there.

"Well, you can come today and we will see. "He says into the phone.

He kinda was always on the phone but I knew he had to manage. Plus, he did not have to go. Just a phone call.

"Well, today is a good and sunny day. Huh?" He asked.

"Yes. A perfect day to start a new year at school." I say.

"Exactly."He says.

I was excited now. Being a sophomore and I was kinda nervous what if I wasn't in any classes with Chloe or Zoey. But this exact thing was going to be revealed today only about 2 hours at most left of thinking about that.

"Dad, will you drop me off or school bus?" I ask as we sit down to have breakfast.

"I will drop you. I still have time before my first patient." He says. I nod. 

We continue eating and once we are finished we get into the car after grabbing all the stuff and locking the house.

 "So shall we begin the ride? He asks as he puts on his seatbelt and I put on mine

"Let's go." I say. He started the car and started the ride. 

He got Emily's call. He put it on speaker.

"Yeah em. What happened?" He asks.

"Nothing, ash just wanted to know when you will be at work." She said.

"Did something happen?" He asks.

"Actually yeah Lockwood did something stupid that messed with the administrative things and now we need you to decide what will happen to him next." She says with anger in her voice.

"I will be right there. I just need to drop Sophie off at school." He says.

"Alright. Come here fast." She says.

"Will do." He says and hangs the call.

"Dad was that Neil?" I ask.

"Yeah." He said with worry in his voice. 

"Okay." I say. I was getting a bit worried too. 

"Sophie. Don't worry I know you got along that day but I will make sure that whatever he gets is fair for what he did." He said.

"Okay, dad." We reach my school then.

"So bye Sophie have a great first day tell me all about it when I get home". He says as I get off the car.

"Will do dad. You too." I say and close the door of the car.

"Bye." He says.

"Bye, dad." I say.

He drives off.

I get into the building. The school was revamped. In a bad way. There were posters of some man everywhere. And I knew that man he was that man. The man on the ship. As I was busy, looking through the posters I ran into Sabrina, the bully. She always made fun of anyone that was in her sight. She always joked about mom's death.

"Hey Sophie." She says.

 I ignore her and keep walking.

"You can't ignore me." She says.

"I sure can it's my choice who I want to talk to and who not." I say.

"Yeah. And after that, you have to cry onto your dad works a lot and I have made sure he will be home late today. And your mom oh I forgot she's dead." She said laughing. 

"Don't you dare say that."I say.

"I will it's my choice and well what I said was the truth she's dead."

That was enough. I controlled a lot. She said a lot about me but now she got to mom and dad. I punched her in the face. I saw the kids and teachers gather around.

"Take her to the nurse." Miss. Smith said to one of the girls.

"And Sophie please come with me." She said. I now realized what I had done. I shouldn't have done that this will get me in a lot of trouble.

"Yes, miss. Smith." I say and follow her into her classroom which was empty.

"Sit." She said. I sat down.

"Sophie what you did was against the rules. You know that right?" She asks.

"Yes, miss, I didn't mean to do that but she joked about my mom being dead and she was just getting under my skin." I said.

Miss. Smith always supported me. She was there since I joined this school and I could tell her if anything was troubling me at school.

"Sophie, I understand but this is the first day of school. You can get in serious trouble if she bleeds through her nose." She says.

"I know." I say.

"This is the first time. But it is assault. So we will need to call your dad at lunch be ready Sophie this is not going to be easy." She says.

"Will he meet with the principal?" I ask.

"Yeah. Is something up with that?" She asks.

"Nope." I say and get out.

Everyone stares at me like I am a rebel an outsider the same people who used to say hi were now looking at me like that.

Chloe and Zoey came up to me.

"Sophie are you okay?" They ask.

"I am fine,"  I say. I wasn't but I had gotten good at pretending.

"Sophie, I saw that man the day I came to your house. You can't be okay."Zoey says.

"I'm fine guys don't worry." I didn't wanna be a burden to them or worry them.

"And that punch to Sabrina was epic." One of the kids say.

"Thank you but can you please talk a bit lower than that?" I said.

"Guys. Let's just get our schedules and everything and get to class." I say.

"Okay." They both say.

We get our schedules we had all classes together this semester. We get into class and the chatter isn't quiet I can clearly hear it. It's about me. Soon a teacher enters.

"Goodmorning teacher." Everyone says.

"Morning class let's study and not talk about what happened this morning." He says.

After about 5 classes lunch break comes the break I was dreading the most today. Everyone gets out of class.

"Sophie walker please report to the principal office right now." I hear the intercom say.

"It'll be alright soph." They said.

"Thank you." I say and start walking to the principal office.

Once I reach there  the desk teacher says to me to go in dad is already in there. I go  in and see dad and that man talking about what happened this morning.

"Ms. Walker, please take a seat." He says.

Dad looks at me with anger and a stern look on his face.

"So as we just talked she just punched a girl out of nowhere today." He says.

"I know her. She would never just punch someone we should hear her side of the story." Dad says.

"Ms. Walker would you?" He says.

I tell both of them what happened.

"Well, she made sure that I got home late cause she made one of my colleagues get in trouble and she joked about my wife being dead. Are you serious about this? You can't just suspend her you need to take actions on her too." Dad says.

"Well, Mr. Walker. Sophie is suspended for a whole week. That won't change and no actions will be taken against Sabrina as she already got hurt." He said.

"Well you know what she will no longer be in your school as of now sophie walker is no longer in this school,"Dad says getting up.

"That's your choice." He says.

"Yeah it is." Dad says.

"Get up, sophie let's go home." Dad says.

I get up and follow dad as he gets out of the door.
