Ashton pov
After remembering this day it makes me tear up but 11 years more than a decade.

I sat on the couch, remembering this day always got me. I quietly sat there remembering these 11 years without her they sure were difficult till sophie was 10 After that, she could manage on her own if I was late. I picked my phone and began scrolling through some photos of us all.

All of them caused me to laugh she was always so goofy, never serious unless she wanted to be.  Even when I was working she would disturb me with her silly faces or play the guitar. It was hers she taught me, she would never hold it back just saying anything to anyone's face which sometimes got us both in trouble but we got through it sometimes we even got Duke in with us. I loved her

After 17 years of friendship, we married each other 3 years later Sophie was born. And 4 years after that Sarah died at such a young age.

To this day,  I blame myself that she told me she was sick I could've stayed home I could've forced her to get tests for her clumsiness but no I ignored it. Little did I know, that was the last morning I would wake up with her in my arms, hug her the last time, see the smile that could make anyone's day, be around her, and laugh with her.

For 3 to 4 hours, I kept thinking about her, the memories we had made over the years, those nights screaming to music or studying for exams when we would just have fun when we finished a whole season in one night when I proposed to her when we married each other when Sophie was born. She made every single day special.

I checked the time it was 4 am now. I heard Sophie come down. I was sitting on the kitchen counter.

"Dad, it's 4 am you need to sleep." She said.

"I know, I was just thinking." I said.

"You were thinking about mom. Right?" She asked.

"Yeah. She died 11 years ago today and it just got me thinking about all the times you know." I said. She sat beside me on the kitchen counter.

"I remember that day dad. I was little but still, I remember everything." She said. I just hugged her.

"Dad how about we go to the zoo we used to go in tomorrow in the day and just reminisce?" She asked.

"Sure. We'll decide the time tomorrow morning." I said.

"Don't you have a meeting tomorrow?" She asks.

"Cancelled". I say.

"Yay!". She exclaims.

We just sit on the counter and keep on talking about various things.

"Before I know it, it's 5 30 am. Time to wake up soph." I say and laugh.

"Already very awake." She says laughing.

"Alright. I have to go to work. I will shower till then you can do anything you want just don't break something and hurt yourself again." I say.

"I won't." She says.

I climb up the stairs, get into my room, and shower. I get out and get ready for the day. I normally didn't have coffee in the morning but today I needed it. I didn't sleep the whole night and I had a feeling today was going to be chaotic.

I go downstairs and find Sophie asleep on the couch.

I decide to wake her up when I go she didn't sleep much as well.

30 minutes later.......

Sophie pov

I wake up to dad preparing breakfast. Then I realise I fell asleep on the couch. I get up from the couch.

"Morning dad."  I say.

"Morning Sophie". He says.

Morning dad. I say.

"So someone wasn't in a mood to sleep." He says.

"I was bored and tired." I said.

"Alright." He says.

He puts the breakfast on two plates and gives one to me. He pours some coffee for himself. His phone starts ringing.

"Who is it?" He asks. I look at the screen.

"Smith." I said passing him the phone.

He takes it and answers the phone.

"Hey." He says.

"It was canceled."He says.

"Alright, be there in 25." He says after a minute of the other person talking.

"Sophie i have to go to the meeting, it unfortunately wasn't canceled so I will be back by 2 or 3." He said.

"Alright, Dad." I say.

He puts his coffee in a bottle, grabs his coat and an apple.

"Okay. I am off." He says.

"Bye dad." I say.

"Bye Sophie." He said and goes out the door.

I then finish the breakfast, keep the plates in the sink, wash them and go up to my room to take a shower. In my room was a photo of mom, both of us together. I don't remember much of her but from what dad told me she was a very good, kind, and fun person.

Dad never made me feel that mom wasn't there he tried his best even when he would be tired but I needed him he just would be there. I still remember my first day of school I wouldn't leave his shirt and I made him sit with me the whole day. Still, he sat there smiling and playing with me and the others. I laughed remembering that day. Even if mom was there I would have kept them both. I wouldn't let them go. I wouldn't let her go. Ever.

One day, a little after mom died I was sitting outside with dad and I asked him where she is.

He pointed up to the sky.

"That star right there, the one's that's shining the brightest that's her she'll guide you anytime you need any guidance or direction." He said. I nodded.

I shook my head quickly to get the memories out of my head. Today was a sad day but no I didn't want to cry.

I jumped in the shower turned the extremely hot water on and just let the tears flow they just kept flowing I was thinking about mom. I turned the water after an hour maybe it turned cold in between but I didn't mind I just needed to stay there for a while. I needed a good cry. I hadn't cried in a good while and I didn't even know I was crying. After, I was done showering I got out and dressed myself.

I really didn't want to do anything so I just lay on the bed listening to music on my phone. I was just listening to random songs, not a particular artist or album. I fell asleep again listening to music cause I woke up to my phone ringing.

"Sophie, I'll be at home in a few minutes so get ready." Dad said.

"Okay dad."  I said. I got up from the bed and started getting ready.

Dad soon came up to my room I was all ready just scrolling on my phone.

"Are you ready to go?" He asked.

"Yep." I said.

"Alright let's go then." He said and we got downstairs he locked the house after we got out. we sat in the car and he started it.

"Dad I have a question. Should I ask now or later?" I ask.

"Ask you know I don't mind questions." He says.

"Okay, so you said Chloe couldn't walk for a month after the surgery and after like 3 weeks she was walking and running. How is that possible?"I ask.

"Yeah, even I had the same question so I called the doctor who did this. He turned out to be my friend so he told me that they were forced by her parents to use an experimental procedure that is still not approved to be used on humans. It's a miracle it worked. I read into this it has 20 more stages ahead for it to be even tested on humans and this infection is a side effect of that." He said.

"She could've died?" I ask.

"It's a possibility there are a lot of things that can go wrong with surgery some of them can be fixed, some of them just don't have a solution and that patient has to suffer." He said. I nod.

"Soph she's okay. You are not going to lose her." Dad said.

"Yeah." I said. Suddenly, his phone started ringing. He put it on speaker as he was driving.

"Dr. Walker this is Hawkins sorry to disturb you but  Mr. Bell has had a complication and he's asking to see you he wouldn't let anyone else even enter the room." The person on the other end said. Dad sighed.

"I'll be there in 15 tell him that." Dad said.

"I will." The person said and ended the call.

"It's okay dad I get it I'll do something else." I said.

"Thank you." He said. He drove to the hospital and he parked the car in the staff parking and we got in.

"This is where we part ways. Go to the peds floor. If you can't find the way just ask someone." He says. I nod.

We part ways dad gets in the lift and I take the stairs.

I go to the peds floor I found it easily as I spent most of my time here when dad got called in like this. There were a lot of sick kids. Some were walking around and some lying in their beds.

The boy I saw the day of the bus crash was also there he was just walking.

I walked up to him. He had a smile on his face.

"Hey." He says.

"Hey." I say.

"This is awkward, I haven't talked to anyone my age in a while everyone here is, either way, younger or way older." He said laughing.

"I'm not here, just visiting," I said.

"That's good actually it sucks being stuck here and I have to do stupid laps and I hate them." He said.

"Well yeah. Dad has talked about it multiple times." I said.

"Who now? I might know him." He asks.

"Ashton walker," I said.

"I know him very well. You're Sophie right?" He asks.

"Yeah. How do you know?" I ask.

"He told me about you. He was there as I'm mostly alone here. He kept me company." He said. I nod.

We talked about a lot of things just then, something hit me. I realized he was the boy on the ship.

"We have met." I said kinda suddenly and then saw a shocked expression on his face.

"What?" He asks.

"Yeah, it just hit me. You were the boy who almost entered the wrong room and I was in it." I said.

"Well, I believe you there's no reason not to." He says.

"You should." I say and smile.

We both just then talk more about various things. He was good company.

"What about your mom?" He asks.

"She died 11 years ago. It's actually 11 years today only." I said.

"I'm so sorry I asked, I didn't know." He said.

"You had no way of knowing so it's alright." I said. He smiles.

"As you say." He said.

"Hey Sophie, Hey parker." Dad said as he walked to us with a file in his hand.

"Hey Doc." He said.

"Hey dad." I said.

"Well, I have some good news." He said.

"What is it?" He asked.

"You've done your laps for today and for the past week too." Dad said.

"I didn't notice." He said smiling."

"Good. You'll be able to return to school in a week if everything goes good." He said.

"You've never given me this much good news in a single day." He says smiling.

"Well, once you get on the road to recovery it's almost always good news,"Dad says.

"Great. I'm ready to get out of here i'm sick of this place."

"Now don't overdo it. Get back to your room." Dad says and laughs. He nods.

We both walk back together to his room.

"I'm not sure if I told you my name but i'm Parker." He said.

"Yeah, I got your name when dad said it." I said.

"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself." He said.

"It's all good mistakes happen." I said.

"Where are your parents?" I ask.

"They had work, they will come later. But it's not like I'm alone you were here and now i'll just pass my time." He said.

"And come in don't stand outside." He says.

"I'm good." I said.

Just then, dad comes in.

"Parker, I talked to your parents and you should be able to go home tomorrow if nothing happens." Dad said.

"I'm so ready to get out of here." He said.

"Well yeah, I'm glad you'll be out of here too, it sucks being the patient." Dad said.

"Thank you." He said.

"It's just my job." Dad said. He nods.

"Sophie, you wanna go right now or later? "He asks.

"Now. "I say.

"Alright."He says.

"So bye Parker see you later." I say.

"Yeah, Sophie see you later." He says.

"Parker don't do anything that will cause you to stay here more than you have to right now." Dad says

"Sure Doc."He said.

"He was that boy who entered the wrong room."I say.

"Small world." Dad says.

We walk up to the car and dad starts the ride to the zoo.
