ASHTON POV 

"Do you think she's okay?" Duke asked. 

"No, not even a bit. I don't know why she has to go through all this." 

"I don't-". Duke was interrupted with a loud shout. 

"DAD." she yelled. 

"Go, I'll stay." I nodded and ran. I knocked on the door. 

"Hey i'm right here you're okay, Can you open the door for me?" I could hear her sobbing. 

"It's o-open" She stuttered. I opened it and saw her on the floor crying. 

"C-close the d-oor please". I did that and sat on the floor with her. She had her head between her knees. 

"I'm so sorry dad, I didn't know the house was on fire, I was asleep I didn't notice it's all gone and it's my fault i'm sorry. I'm sorry grandma died, i'm so sorry dad that you had to see your mom die." She said in one single breath as she looked up at me. 

"Just breathe for me right now you'll be okay." I put her head to my chest to calm her down. 

"I'm sorry dad." She said when her sobs were just hiccups. 

"Listen to me, this isn't your fault the fire, grandma dying nothing. You did nothing wrong." 

"Promise?" 

"Yes. It never was, it isn't and it will never be your fault. "

"I love you dad." 

"I love you too soph. Let's go out if you're ready?" 

"Can we sit here for a while? I kinda want to process everything." 

"That's alright, take as long as you need. Do you want me to go?"

"No, stay." 

"I'm right here then." We sat in silence for a while. I was looking at her, She was lost in her own world. 

"Let's go out?" 

"Of course."

We both stood up and walked out. 

"I laid out clothes for the both of you in the guest bedroom, you can shower too if you want to."

"Thanks Duke." 

"I'm right here Ash." I nodded. She was silent, nothing like her. 

"I'm gonna go shower first, My clothes smell of smoke." 

"I'll go after, Don't worry." 

She went in. 

SOPHIE POV

 I stepped in the shower and turned it on. 

Everything was gone. The memories of mom, the house that I grew up in, the house where mom died. It was all gone. Any trace of Mom was gone there was nothing left and it was all my fault. If I hadn't been sleeping, I could've sensed the fire sooner and done something before the whole house went up in flames. The tears started falling again. I didn't scream but I wanted to I didn't cause Dad would worry, He already has enough to worry about. I don't wanna add to it. 

I turned it off and dried myself. I saw the time on my phone, I had taken an hour in the shower. 

"I showered in the other one. Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah." I lied. 

"How's your hand?" 

I had forgotten about my hand. 

"I kinda don't feel it?" 

"That's okay you'll get feeling back soon." 

"I wanna sleep."

"I'm joining you, Duke's already asleep." 

We laid down. 

I couldn't sleep. 

"Are you awake?" 

"Wide awake." He said and turned to me. 

"What do you want to do?"

"I don't know."

"Dad?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you a lot and I don't think I express it much but I'm so glad to have you."

"You're the best daughter ever soph and I just don't know what I would do without you. You're my everything." 

I snuggled into him. His hold was comforting. It calmed everything down. But right now, I wasn't even close to calming down. There was like a fire going around me, Voices in my head that weren't shutting down no matter how hard I focused on something else. I just wanted to scream and cry but the house had burnt down he had enough to worry about already.

"Dad how will we like get over this? You know like financially."

"Don't worry about that, I had Insurance so I'll just claim it and we have enough savings."

"Okay." 

"And you don't need to worry about this, I'll worry about this okay? You just focus on yourself, This was traumatic and just tell me if you need anything cause i'm always here." 

"I love you." 

"I love you too."
