Sophie pov

I woke up at 10 am on my own. I got out of bed and went into dad's room. He was asleep it was a rare sight to see him asleep at this time of the day.

I decided to not disturb him and as I had woken up prepare breakfast that would be toast and eggs cause I knew nothing else.

I went downstairs and prepped the breakfast. Today it would be breakfast in bed for dad. I said to myself.

I put them on a plate. The plates were in a tray, carefully held the tray, and walked upstairs.

"Dad, wake up its 10:30," I said.

"What is the time again?" He asked jolting out of bed in a panicky state 

"10:30 am". I said.

"I am late."  He said.

"You're on a holiday and thats why you are getting breakfast in bed". I said.

"Yeah". He said and calmed down a little.

I chuckled.

"Don't laugh. I am just too used to my schedule."  He said.

"Alright". I said and passed him the tray.

I had kept my toast and eggs there only in the tray, so we had breakfast together in bed.

"Dad why dont you like things here and there?" I asked out of nowhere.

"Well, you do know I am a surgeon right?" He asked.

"Yeah, I know". I said.

"So, in the O.R.  if even one thing is out of place, the person might die."  He says.

"Really?" I ask. He nodded. 

"Has it happened to you before?" I asked.

"Well...it has. It happened before you were born. And dont ask me how it happened". He says.

"I won't."  I say.

"Now, let's just  bring the bags up". He says.

"Okay." I say.

We both rush down and bring the bags upstairs one by one in the rooms.

When it was done, we both sat down at the table.

"Are you going to work today?" I ask.

"It's 11 am and I am still tired of the events that happened yesterday, so no". He said.

"Alright. I will be hanging out with friends later. Is that fine?" I ask.

"Yeah, as long as you're home before 6." He said.

"Thanks." I said.

We both went upstairs and I jumped into the shower after going in my room. 

I get out and change into my clothes for hanging out with Chloe and Zoey. As Chloe couldn't walk we were meeting at her house.

I go downstairs and dad is there just watching tv. If he is at home he is usually working on his laptop or filling some paperwork. Him just watching tv was a rare sight.

"Are you gonna spend the day like this only? I ask.

"I plan to". He says.

"Alright, I am off." I say.

"Be home before 6." He shouts as I get out.

"Will be." I shout back.

I get my cycle out and ride to Chloe's house which was 20 minutes on my cycle.

I reach there. Chloe and Zoey were standing on the porch of Chloe's house.I was shocked that she could stand but decided to not mention that.

"Hey Soph". They both said at the same time.

"Hey, Chlo hey Zo." I say hugging them both. They hug me back.

"So how was the cruise?".  Zoey asks.

"It was great. I said and start telling them about the boy

"So, you didn't meet him?" Chloe asks.

"Nope, I didn't," I say.

"That's bad," Zoey says.

"Kind of." How was yours? I ask.

"Well, mine was spent in hospitals. But as a result, I can walk again." Chloe says.

"That's great." I say.

"We were going to the hill station cause dad wasn't busy on duty, but he got busy and he hasn't gotten time since so I don't think we will go," Zoey says.

Zoey's dad was a police officer in a town which was really far away from here and he was away most of the time.

"Chloe are your parents home?" I ask.

"Nope, They went back to Singapore 4 days back". She says.

"Ok." I said.

"So are we gonna talk or go and cycle?" Chloe asks.

"Cycle." Zoey and I say. 

We all go up to our cycles. We all spend the next 3 hours cycling and talking about our month.

"I am hungry." Chloe says.

"Me too." Zoey says.

"Me three." I say.

"Any of you got money to buy something?" Chloe asks.

"I got 5 bucks." I say, and get them out of my pocket. I already got them from my pocket money.

"I got 10."  Chloe and Zoey say.

"Great. Let's get something." I say.

"Won't your dad be angry?" Zoey asks.

"If he finds out." I reply.

We three go to the shop and buy a packet of chips each.

Then we eat that, we cycle to the park play there for a while.

"What's the time Chloe?" I ask.

"6:30 pm". She says.

"I am in trouble dad said to be home before 6 and it will take me about 45 mins," I say.

"Go hurry then, see you later."  They both say.

I didn't even bring my phone, he would be worried and angry. I said bye to them. 

I run to my cycle and start paddling fast.

40 mins later.....

I reach home and it's 7:10 pm. I see the time on the watch that is outside the house.

I open the door.

"I am sorry, I didn't mean to be late."  I say.

Dad looks at me with worry and anger on his face.
