Sophie pov

Dad parks the car in the space. We both get out of the car and I see some other car that I have never seen.

"Dad whose car is that?" I ask dad pointing to the car.

"I don't know. One of grandmas friends probably. Well, they will be inside so let's see." 

We both walked in the direction of the door. Dad rings the bell as it is at a high place and i cant reach it. Grandma comes up and opens the door in a minute. She was the only one that would listen to me and could overrule dad.

"Hey, Sophie and Ashton welcome." Grandma says hugging dad and then me.

"Thanks, mom. "Dad says and hugs her back.

"Come on in both of you. "Grandma says.

I follow behind grandma and dad comes with soon.

"Mom, whose car is in the garage next to mine?" Dad asks.

"A special guest Ashton you will meet her soon she is out right now for a call. "Grandma says.

"It's Emily right?" Dad asks.

"Did she meet you already?" Grandma says.

"Yeah, she did and now we are working in the same hospital." Dad says.

"Great." Grandma says. "Sophie, how's school going? Grandma asks me in an attempt to change the topic." She succeeds as dad doesn't say anything.

"It's great. We are on summer vacation right now."I said.

"If you are not going to school. Why do you look tired?" Grandma asks.

"I went with dad to the hospital as he said he couldn't leave me alone. So I am tired."I say.

We all were sitting on the couch. Dad was on the one on the other side while grandma was sitting with me. He rolls his eyes at me when I say that.

"Ashton, you are not supposed to do that. You know that right?" Grandma says.

"Yeah, mom. Won't take her tomorrow then. " Dad says he rarely exceeded the argument more than he had to.

I internally screamed I was happy but didn't let it show. Soon my aunt or Emily entered.

"Hey, Ashton." She said.

"Emily, nice to see you hope we are meeting after forgetting the past." Dad says.

"Of course, we are Ashton. I am no longer holding a grudge." She says.

"Great." Dad says.

Emily comes and sits down next to me. 

"So, Sophie, this is the first time, we are meeting the last time we met you hid behind your dad. I am Emily, your aunt, and your dad's elder sister. "Emily says.

"Okay, why weren't you there when I was a child and when mom died cause I dont remember you," I say.

I look up to dad. A look of confusion comes on his face.

"Well, that's for your dad to tell. " She says.

I look up to dad. He gives me a later look. I nod. We all chat for a while. Then we all have dinner. After dinner dad and Emily sit together for a while and talk some things out while I sit with grandma talking about how we are doing and how she's doing. Dad comes up after a short while.

"Sophie, it's 10 time to go."  He says popping his head in the room me and grandma were sitting in.

"Okay, dad." I say and get up.

"Ashton, so soon you just came," Grandma says.

"Mom we have been here for about 4 hours, and I have work in the morning plus I don't think I can stay up for much time now," Dad says.

"Time passes so fast." She says and pulls dad into a hug.

"It does when you're having fun." Dad says returning the hug. 

"Come back soon."She says

"Okay. Mom see you later." Dad says.

"See you later both of you." Grandma says.

"Yeah, grandma." I say.

We both get out of the house and walk over to the car. We sit in.

"I know you probably have a lot of questions but I will answer them all tomorrow. I think we both are tired today to discuss these things." Dad says as soon as we get in the car.

"Okay dad." I say.

"And you are not coming with me to the hospital tomorrow." He says.

"I know." I say smiling.

"Don't smile." He says.

His phone buzzes with a notification.

"Would you check it for me?" He asks.

"Yeah sure". I say and pick his phone up and unlock it. He always told me his password so that if we would ever be stuck somewhere I could easily unlock it.

I read the notification. It's from my school it reads:
Dear parents, the summer vacation is cut short and school will be beginning in 2 weeks. This message is sent to tell you to begin back to school shopping and students prepare for your next year. Regards,
XYZ school (imagine any schools name)

"What is it?" Dad asks. I was shocked 2 weeks only left.

"Dad school is opening in 2 weeks." I say.

"Great. You love going to school and I won't have to worry about leaving you alone for much longer." He says.

"Yeah." I say.

Dad drives home. I say quiet the whole ride I liked going to school but I wasn't really prepared for it usually it lasted 3 months but this time it was cut in half 1.5 months. When we reach home. We both quickly just go to bed. We already had dinner. So we just go to bed.

"Night Sophie." Dad says.

"Night. "I say.

We both go to our rooms. As soon as I enter, I change into my night suit and crash on the bed. I wasn't ready for school to start.
