*a week later*

SOPHIE POV

Me and dad had not talked at all. He got his job back when the complaint was proved to be false. I was supposed to get my stitches out today.  Duke told me that he would pick me up after school. The day was good.

We had that test in math Mr. Radford told me he would take. It was easy I think I'll get a good score.  I still heard the voices but with Dad hitting me like that they weren't the only thing on my mind. The wound was starting to hurt less day by day but the memory behind the wound was hurting more day by day. Dad still had my phone.

He gave it to me but I never took it not even for school. I was waiting for Duke outside the school.

"Not walking home today girl." A man came up to me. I ignored him.

"You're going to ignore me now." He kept his hand on my shoulder.

"Go the fuck away." I threw his hand away.

"Oh little girl can swear."

"Go away, or I'm going to call the police."

"Ha, good joke you don't have a phone on you." He grabbed my hand. Just then, he was punched.

"Don't you fucking touch my daughter"

Dad.

He held him by the collar but Dad didn't hesitate to punch him. He then fell down.

"Are you okay?" Dad asked adjusting his shirt.

"I'm fine. Are you?"

"I have a little bruise on my hand but don't worry. He deserved it. He didn't hurt you right?"

The man stood up but then ran.

"Nope."

"Duke was busy so he asked me to pick you up."

"Dad it's okay and thank you for saving me but I really don't want to talk to you."

"I understand Take your time and i'm sorry also it's my job to protect you fighting or not." I sat in his car and we drove to the hospital in silence.

He parked in his space.

"Do you want me there with you?"

"You can work thank you." He nodded. I really wanted him there but I hated him for what he did. I walked to Duke's office sitting on one of the chairs in the waiting room which had no one except me.

"Sophie Walker?" He said as he walked holding a clipboard in his hands.

"Here." I walked to his office and he followed me closing the door.

"You look professional."

"Well I am a doctor so."

"The coat looks kinda weird on you."

"I never wear it with you that's why. Come on now, get on the table." I nodded and hopped up. He got the things ready and put gloves on his hands.

"Can you undo the top few buttons?" I was wearing a shirt today. Bad idea.

I did as he said and he brought tools to my shoulder.

"Did you and Ash talk?"

"A man was bothering me as I was waiting for you, he punched him."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, he had a little bruise on his hand."

"I'm sorry but after that did you talk?"

"Not really. I don't want to."

"You'll have to someday."

"I know but not yet."

"Alright and i'm done." I hopped off the table.

"Hop back on."

"Why?"

"Physical."

"Not today please."

"You're overdue. It'll take 15 minutes tops come on." I sighed and hopped back on. He did the basic heartbeat, ears, blood pressure, lungs, nose, throat, and stomach.

"Alright, you're due for two shots."

"No."

"Sophie come on, don't be a child, it's just shots."

"I don't want them."

"I know you don't but you need them."

I don't know why but I started crying.

"Why are you crying? I'm sorry."

"No, it's okay just do them."

"Do you need Ash?"

"No."

He quickly did them. I felt nothing, He was good.

"Hey ah, Duke. I wanted to tell you something that I kinda can't tell dad and I need you to not tell him."

"Alright."

"I have been hearing these voices in my head. They like tell me i'm worthless, to kill myself and many other things. I've been really distracted, I can't sleep everything feels just wrong like i'm just getting through each day not actually living."

"You're none of the things these voices tell you."

"What's the solution?"

"Therapy, cause talking to the expert is always better."

"I'll have to tell dad then."

"Nope. You've honestly been through a lot lately and I think he's been thinking about it himself."

"Okay."

"I'll bring it up okay? Don't worry you'll be okay."

I nodded and hopped off the table.

All of a sudden, he pulled me into a hug and I cried. I couldn't stop.

"It's okay I'm right here."

His shirt was wet, I knew that but I couldn't stop no matter how much I wanted to.

"I'm so sorry your shirt is wet."

"It'll dry don't worry."

I pulled back after a while and wiped my face.

"Water?" I nodded.

He got me a bottle. Suddenly, someone came in.

"Dr. Williams you're needed in room 107."

"I'll be right there."

The man went out.

"You're not okay right now and that's alright, you'll be okay and everything will be alright."

"Please talk to him."

"I will, tonight."

"I'll see you later." Duke said and went out.

The room scared me so I went to the garden and sat on a bench.

A doctor came and sat there with me.

"Don't mind me I just needed someone to sit with."

"I don't mind. Are you okay?"

"I just lost a patient."

"I'm sorry you did everything you could though."

"That's what I'm telling myself but what is a young girl like you doing here. A hospital is a dark place."

"My dad works here."

"Who?"

"Ashton Walker."

"Haven't heard of him. The name does sound familiar though."

"You're the first person I've met that doesn't know him."

"Well there's a first for everything."

"What's your name?"

"Glen Scott. You?"

"Sophie."

"Nice to meet you."

He then, got paged.

"I'll see you someday"

"You will."

That was the first person who knew me as just me not Ashton Walker's daughter.
