124 ❆ The blood of a father

Dion led them to the edge of the Linden Woods after the 14 of the Moira members became an official coven.

Now that they had the coven in check, they needed to teleport to the city to go see two specific people that would be especially helpful to them and what they were trying to do.

They were almost at the edge when Soyeon suddenly stopped in her tracks, almost loosing her balance had she not caught herself.

"What's wrong?" Taehyun asked her, his gaze screaming worry as he looked at one of his closest friends.

Soyeon blinked a couple times, her eyebrows furrowed and lips parted, "T-there's something wrong with my mom," she responded, her eyes going into black for a second before her next words came out more frantic, "w-we have to go back! Like Now!" she yelled, about to start running in the direction of her home, which they had just walked far away from.

Dion grabbed her by the shoulder, stopping her, "Create a portal with your coven, we'll get there faster." he told her, Soyeon nodding at his words.

Moira formed a circle, all of them holding hands as Dion guided them with his voice, "Covens were created as a way to evenly balance power in a group of witches and warlocks, if one witch over powers the other the results could be deadly. That is only if you're all trying to cast a spell together, which you are, so take it slow don't exert any power, your body knows what to do; so just say the spell together and you'll be okay."

They nodded, about to start going until Jackson asked, "Are we like- counting down or something?"

All of them shared a glance, shrugging before nodding, "sure, on 3."

"Like- when you say 3 or after 3?"

"On 3, like when I say it."

"Isn't that-"

"START SAYING IT NOW!" Soyeon yelled over them, all of them falling in line and chanting the spell to create portals together.

They all knew how portal magik worked, so they envisioned Soyeon's house since they'd seen it before. As they chanted the spells, Dion directed the elementals to touch one of the witches or warlocks shoulders, so they'd be pulled to the home with them, which they did slowly so they wouldn't scare the ones saying the spell.

A yellow, pink, purple, and black mist surrounded all of them, which had the elementals in awe as they looked at it, Ilsung tempted to touch it but Jimin slapped his hand away so he wouldn't. In less than ten seconds, they were sucked into a portal and spewed out in front of Soyeon's house, the elementals groaning at the drop feeling they got in their stomachs from the experience.

Soyeon ran up to her front door and threw it open.

And what she saw on the other side made her stomach churn and tears automatically gather in her eyes.

Dion's eyes widening when he followed her and saw the same sight.

BM was crying while holding Somin's dead body in his arms, his pants, skin, shirt, and neck covered in blood, Somin's blood. Her eyes were shut, her body completely limp in BM's arms, and it didn't take Einstein to figure out she was dead.

"D-dad?" Soyeon called out, her voice cracking and eyes filling with even more tears when her father looked at her, obviously startled.

"Soyeon..." he trailed off, not able to finish speaking as he began crying, Soyeon sucking in a sharp breath before a sob escaped past her lips, Dion holding her up before she fell to the ground.

"Wha-what happened?" Soyeon asked, her father looking at her but not speaking, she yelled this time, "What happened?!"

BM sighed, wiping his tears and laying his dead lovers body on the ground carefully, he walked over to his crying daughter, "Jiwoo happened."

Soyeon pushed Dion off of her and ran to her father, hugging him as she cried even harder. Of course Jiwoo was the reason her mother was dead, she shouldn't have been surprised, but as she looked at Somin's lifeless body she couldn't help but partly blame herself for not being there to help her mom.

To protect her like she's always done for Soyeon.

BM pulled away from his daughter, cupping her cheeks lovingly as he told her, "Honey, if you ever want to stop Jiwoo, you need to do something you might not like-"

"Mathew," Dion's deep voice interrupted from behind them, he shook his head, "you can't make her do that after she just lost Somin."

"She's going to lose more people if she doesn't, Jiwoo now has Somin's power, what do you think is going to happen now, Dion?" BM retaliated, pain evident in his voice, evident in the way it trembled with every word he said.

Soyeon furrowed her eyebrows, tears still streaming down her face, "What are you talking about?"

BM looked down at his daughter, his eyes unwavering and voice strong as he told her, "I need you to take my power."

Soyeons' eyes widened when she realized what he meant, "NO!" she screamed, shaking her head vigorously as he backed away from her father, "no, no, I'm not doing that, dad, i'm not killing you!" the others heard most of the conversation, since it wasn't quiet, but they made no move to go near the house.

"Then how do you expect to defeat your mother?!" he screamed back at her, Soyeon's tears stopping and eyebrows furrowing once more.

Her mother?

Somin was dead.

BM took his daughters hand in his own large one, pulling her closer to him and kneeling down, "Soyeon, Somin wasn't your mother," he started slowly, Soyeon able to feel how badly he was shaking, "Jiwoo is."

Soyeon's hand dropped from his, her breath stopping and heart seized beating for a moment. She fell to the ground from the shock, not caring how much it hurt her knees when they made contact with the floor. She couldn't hear anything, everything was fuzzy and her mind was whirring.

Jiwoo was her mother?

The woman she hates, is the same woman that gave her life?

And took away the person she did consider a mother away from her?

"Honey," BM took her face in his hands again, pulling her out of her trance, "I'm your father, I promise you that, but Jiwoo is your biological mother, Somin isn't. We took you away from her when you were 1 years old, so you wouldn't remember, the reason we did is because Jiwoo wanted to kill you when you turned sixteen to take your power. I couldn't let that happen so Somin helped me, we just didn't tell you because we didn't want you to think of yourself badly." he explained to her, Soyeon just staring at the floor as her labored breaths escaped her parted lips.

"Why did she want my power?" Soyeon asked, not looking at her father but not pushing him away, Dion watched the whole interaction with a frown.

This wasn't how Soyeon was supposed to find out.

"Because when a witch has a child, part of her power goes to the baby, she wanted that part back along with the power that you manifested as you grew. Soyeon, taking power from a relative, especially a direct one, is much stronger than from someone else. Jiwoo is way stronger now that she has Somin's power, honey, I need you to-"

"You want me to turn into her?" Soyeon inquired, finally looking at her dad with fresh layer of tears in her eyes and a distressed expression on her face, "you want me to have those streaks in my hair like her? Because you asking me to do this is like you asking me to be-become her." Soyeon closed her eyes after she said those words, tears spilling out as she whimpered, BM hugging her close to his chest.

He shook his head as he held her, "I don't want you to become her, you'll never be her, but to win against her, to beat her, you need my power because yours won't be enough, neither with a coven, or with the Onee and Phoenix on your side, because you're going to be the person she goes for in a fight."

Soyeon's breaths were brackish, her body trembling, "I-i can't."

"You can and you have too, i'm not asking you Soyeon," his voice was forceful as he made her look at him, tears no longer in his eyes, "i'd rather be dead knowing you're going to be okay and able to take her on."

Soyeon shook her head as she cried even more, BM letting her go as he stood, Dion running up to Soyeon and pulling her closer to him so he could comfort her.

In a way, Dion was like the older brother Soyeon never had.

BM went to create the dagger that would be needed to kill him while simultaneously taking his power, creating the same thing Jiwoo used against Somin. Just his would be easier to make since he was mortal.

Mathew loved Jiwoo, he truly did, but when he found out what she was planning to do with their daughter, that love turned to pain, which eventually settled into deep hate and resentment against her. Falling in love with Somin wasn't apart of the plan he had when taking Soyeon away, but that part of it made him happy, because Somin loved him, she loved Soyeon.

Jiwoo didn't kill Somin the way Immortal witches like them are supposed to be killed, and if he wanted he could try and bring Somin back, but a witch without her power is like an elemental without their ability, they are un happy and don't want to be around. Plus, he knows Jiwoo probably made it so Somin couldn't be brought back.

With mullary paste.

It was red and sticky, infused with the blood of a witch, blood of a snake, and the skin of a lion all mushed together into one disgusting brew. It made it so witches and warlocks can't be brought back to life, the wood of the dagger needed to be spelled by a specific spell that allowed power to be transfered from one witch to another when the dagger kills them. It is singed by elemental fire and frosted by the elemental frost, which witches knew how to fake with a spell.

It worked all the same though.

When BM came back out with the dagger and spell, Soyeon was no longer crying, her eyes were puffy and red, but tears weren't coming out anymore. The others in front of the house, either sitting or standing anxiously, they didn't really know what was going on but the parts of the conversation they did hear terrified them.

He handed them to her without a word, the two expressing their love through their eyes and stares.

She was shaking as she held the paper up to read it, her eyes morphing into black, "Per ictu pugionem, de pythonissam sanguis travels mihi hóstibus tueáris me in virtute Dei per series capillum (Through the stab of the dagger, the blood of the witch travels to me, bestowing me their power through a streak of the hair)" her voice shook and eyes watered, but she made sure not to cry.

She told herself she'd try not to cry.

Dion's heart was breaking. Soyeon had to find out her mother was actually Jiwoo, Somin died at the hands of Jiwoo, and the only way to defeat the woman was by her killing her father, a man she loved with every fiber in her body.

Once the dagger was spelled, she looked at her father, who nodded with a soft, assuring, smile on his face, "I love you, my flower," he expressed to her before Soyeon took the dagger and stabbed him in the heart with it.

She sobbed out when she did, allowing herself to fall down with Mathew, who held her as she did it, telling her it wasn't her fault as his life drained out of him. Soyeon breaking her promise to herself as she let out loud, harsh, sobs.

At least this way he'd be with Somin again.

Dion watched as BM's blood travelled up the dagger, up Soyeon's arm, and to her hair, where it went down in a snake formation and turned apart of it white.

They knew BM was dead when he no longer moved, no longer breathed, and his eyes went gray. Though through the process he made sure to show no signs of pain, he didn't wince, didn't cry, and didn't scream, because he didn't want his daughter to feel more guilty than he knew she already did.

Soyeon pulled away from his dead body, her eyes going into black before going normal again. She wiped her tears, turning back to Dion with a stoic expression, "Let's go, we have things to do." she stated, walking past him and out the door.

The rests eyes widening when they saw the white streak in her hair.
