Chapter 6
Leaning against the kitchen counter, my eyes watch over the twin boys sitting at the island on the barstools. Their eyes focusing in on their big piece of paper as they colour in their pictures for their project, the names of their favourite hero at the top of the page. Ryoku sticks his tongue out as he begins to write down why Dynamight is his favourite hero, giggling to himself as he looks toward the sentences I wrote out for him to use as a guide to spell certain words while Kōri furrows his brow as he shades in Deku's red shoes.
Their recent project at school was to write about their favourite heroes or their role models. To write out why they're their favourite, what they're known for, what their favourite food is, what their quirk is if they have one and their achievements. According to the twins, it was to help them with their handwriting and how to construct sentences which was amazing. When they needed help, I helped. I cut out pictures of Deku and Dynamight in action, pictures of their hero costumes and I wrote out a couple of sentences for the boys to use to help them with certain words.
Standing in the living room, adjusting the cuffs of his shirt, Shoto looks toward the mirror with a small hum. The male making sure his shirt is smooth before cursing under his breath and slipping it off without a second thought, the male walking into the kitchen as I arch a brow toward him. The male nervously smiling toward me as he looks around.
"Do you know where the clothing iron is?" He asks, rubbing the back of his neck as he holds his shirt in his other arm before ruffling his sons hair, "Is Momo using it?"
"It's in the cupboard under the stairs," I reply with a smile, running my fingers through my hair with a deep breath as Ryoku sounds out the word, "You want me to get it for you?"
"No that's okay," Shoto hums, sending me a reassuring smile as I look toward him before he turns on his heel and heads toward the cupboard, "You focus on sorting the boys out,"
Nodding softly, I turn back toward the boys to make sure they're doing okay with their project before turning around and checking up on the oven, biting my lip as I look through the glass to check on the pizza cooking away in the oven. A giggle leaving my lips as I look toward Kōri and Ryoku who stare at the oven expectingly. The pair of them hungry for dinner.
Tonight, both Shoto and Momo had a hero gala to go to. Both heroes were set to go to the gala to celebrate an occasion that meant a lot to the hero community. Leaving me to babysit the boys for the evening while they're out having a good time. The boys were more excited than ever to spend the evening with me, adamant that we were going to have so much fun together to watch movies and eat tons of chocolate, popcorn and candy.
As the oven timer beeps, signalling the pizza and the fries are finished, I grab the oven gloves and open up the oven. Waving my hand through the steam rushing out of the oven to try and get rid of it before I grab the pizza (I feel sorry for people who wear glasses when the steam gets into their lens). Humming gently, I pull out the pizza and the fries and set them down on the counter before turning the oven off and grabbing two plates from the cupboard to plate up their food.
As soon as the smell of pizza wafts through the room and hits the twins' noses, their eyes are suddenly on me. The pair of them licking their lips as I slice the pizza up and set three slices on each plate for them, leaving two for myself, before adding fries to the plates and handing it to the twins who greedily begin to eat it up. A giggle leaves my lips as I watch them chow down on their food while I nibble at the pizza.
While I swallow down the crust of the pizza, I watch as Shoto irons his shirt. The male making sure that there are no creases in his shirt before slipping it back and on sort out his cufflinks, chuckling when the boys make a small 'Ooh' sound toward him. Shoto stood there in his formal attire, a crisp white shirt with a navy blue suit jacket and suit pants. The blue really suiting him.
As I start on my second slice, swallowing down the cheesy goodness that was pizza, I watch the twins try to throw fries in each other's mouths making me giggle and shake my head. Shoto chuckles, laughing as he steals a handful of fries from Ryoku's plate making the boy gasp and frown toward his father as he eats them up without any remorse for the boy. Kōri's squeals with laughter, pointing toward Ryoku and laughing at his misfortune before gawking at Shoto as he steals fries from his plate too.
"Daddy! That was mine!" Kōri whines, his bottom lip pouting out as he crosses his arms over his chest, frowning toward his father who ruffles his hair and kisses his forehead, "You're a meanie, daddy! That's my food!"
"I'll make you katsudon tomorrow if you want, how's that sound?" Shoto asks tilting his head toward his son who suddenly changes his tune and stares up at him with sparkles in his eyes and nodding excitedly, "Alright, now eat your pizza before daddy takes that too,"
"If you wanted food I could have made some for you," I tell Shoto who chuckles and shakes his head with a smile, patting my head making me arch a brow, "I'm not a dog, Shoto,"
Shoto chuckles, flashing me a grin before walking down the hall to head to the bathroom to clean his teeth. A giggle leaving my lips as I shake my head and finish my pizza before beginning to clean up the kitchen. Wiping down the counters after spraying them with disinfectant, I hum a soft tune to myself, making sure that all the crumbs and sauce on the counter is gone before I go to wash the dishes. The twins happily playing with their food while I wash up the tray and the plates that are already used.
"(Y/n)!"
Turning the tap off, I pull my hands out of the soapy water and dry them on the hand towel nearby. Clearing my throat, I tie off my apron and place it on the counter before leaving the twins be and heading down the hallway toward Momo who's leaning out of her room with a nervous smile. The girl wearing a shirt and some shorts.
"Everything okay?" I ask gently, giggling softly as she beckons me into her bedroom and shuts the door behind her, my eyes widening at the sight of her bedroom, "Oh god..."
"It's bad isn't it?" She asks, biting the ends of her nails nervously, giggling sheepishly as I stare at her with wide eyes before staring back at her bedroom, my head sticking out as I cover my jaw dropped mouth, "Usually I can find what I want to wear... but I can't make my mind up tonight..."
Hanging across the dresser and draped across her bed were tons and tons and tons and tons of dresses. Dresses in all different colours and all different designs. Long dressed with a big skirt that flows with movement. Dresses that hug every single curve on your body. Dresses that are loose and moves with you. Dresses that are tight up top but loose at the bottom. Short dresses that show cleavage. Short dresses that hug everything.
How many dresses does one girl need?!
Trying not to show my perplexity about the whole situation, I send Momo a reassuring smile as she fiddles with her long, manicured nails. Her soft black eyes darting around with each dress, her mind turning.
"I would ask Shoto to do this but he says I look good in anything," she says rubbing the back of her neck with a weak smile, "So I need an honest opinion because I have absolutely no clue about what to wear... I don't usually have this problem..."
"Of course," I hum, happy to help her out with her outfit. I stand amongst the sea of dresses and look toward each one, "What were you thinking of wearing? Any colours you want?"
"Well... I was thinking of going for a green or a black one... or maybe a light pink..." Momo explains, tapping her nails against one another as she looks around the room to choose a dress, "But I don't know what style I want..."
Biting my lip and clicking my tongue, I have a look around the room. Staring at each of the dresses with a small hum before shaking my head and looking toward the wardrobe. A long red dress hung alone in the wardrobe. The one dress that Momo didn't pull out.
"What about this red one?" I ask, pulling it out and holding it up, running my fingers over the fabric with a smile and holding it up to her figure as she hums gently, "Then have your hair down, maybe curl it or something?"
"Hmm... that could work," she says with a smile; nodding to herself as she slips into the dress and stares at her reflection before giggling and nodding in affirmation, "It's great, I never think of wearing this one. Shoto bought it for me last year but I never knew when to wear it,"
"You look amazing," I hum with a smile, giggling gently as she looks toward her reflection. The red dress hugging her body was long and hugged her every curve, she also had a slit sliding up the dress up to her thigh with gold lining the hem, "It's a beautiful dress,"
"Thank you, (Y/n)," Momo says with a smile as she grabs her makeup from the nightstand begins to sit at her dressing table to begin doing her face, "Your friends must be so lucky to have someone like you in their group,"
"I very much doubt it," I explain, sitting down on the edge of her bed rubbing the back of my neck with a slight nervous tick nagging the back of my brain, "I mean... if anything they'll think that I'm lucky to have them,"
"Whats your friendship group like?" She asks as she blends in the foundation into her porcelain face, smiling toward me through the mirror as I bite my lip, "Your roommate sounds nice from what you've told me,"
"Yeah... she's only the really nice one in there," I explain softly, taking a soft breath as I look toward the wardrobe to try and centre myself, "The rest aren't really... what you call friends. They're just there for me to hang out with... I mean, Akari and Kurva are sweet and they're great when Kana isn't around... Kana's just... a control freak and has to be the centre of attention. We were all really close until... until the incident,"
"Incident? What incident sweetie?" She asks worried, turning in her chair with half her eye makeup done making me bite back a giggle at how humiliating she looks, "What happened?..."
"I - I'd rather not talk about it," I explain fiddling with my nails nervously, worried she wouldn't take no for an answer, before sighing in relief as she nods in understanding and turns back. So quickly, I change the topic, "So what's your friendship group like?"
"We're all a close knit group," Momo explains with a smile, a rush of happiness flowing through her just talking about her friends. Why couldn't I have that?... The older girl smiling to herself as she adds her lipstick, "We've been through thick and thin with each other and we support each other no matter what happens... oh my god! You should meet them one day!"
"Really? I mean... I'm not as..." I stammer nervously, watching as Momo nods enthusiastically with a bright smile, "Are you serious?"
"Of course! I'll make sure I find out the next time we have a girls day out! We'd have so much fun!" Momo squeals, wrapping her arms around me with a bright smile, giggling as I return the hug before we both pull away, "Thank you for your help sweetie,"
"Of course," I hum, following her out of her bedroom and shaking my head with a smile as I walk into the livingroom to find the boys wrestling on the carpet with Shoto mediating, "We can't leave you for five minutes huh?"
Chuckling gently, Shoto walks toward his wife and presses a soft kiss to her lips making her giggle and kiss his cheek before strutting toward her two sons who gawk at her. The woman pulls her two boys in for a cuddle and kisses their foreheads with a smile.
"You two behave for (Y/n), okay?" She orders, poking their noses gently making them giggle as she pulls away to slip er shoes on, "If there's any problems, (Y/n), don't hesitate to call,"
"I know, everything will be okay, trust me," I hum, ruffling the boys hair before slumping into the couch with a groan, a yawn unable to stop itself from leaving my lips as I grab the tv remote and ready myself to get comfortable, "We're gonna watch movies and eat junk food,"
"Do we have to go to the gala?" Shoto whines, pouting to himself as he stares at the amount of chocolate, candy and popcorn I've bought for the boys just for this occasion. The two tone haired male had a secret sweet tooth after all, he often stole candy from the cupboard when Momo wasn't looking, "I mean.... this looks so much better than talking to people,"
"We promised we'd go, now come on," Momo says with a giggle, kissing her sons cheeks for one last time before sending me a smile as Shoto trudges out of the house, "We'll be home around midnight, feel free to crash in the spare room if you need too,"
"Of course, have a good night," I say, waving them goodbye with the twins before shutting the door and grinning toward the twins who are already darting for the living room to start our binge, "You boys ready? What shall we watch first and what shall we eat first?"
"Can we watch... Jungle Book?" Kōri asks snuggling under his blanket in his Deku onesie with a giggle while I head to the kitchen to grab food, "Pretty please?"
"Nah! I wanna watch Cars!" Ryoku whines, pouting toward me as I pour some popcorn into a bowl and set it down on the coffee table beside bowls of chocolate and some gummy bears, "Please!"
"How about we watch Jungle Book first and then we watch Cars? Yeah?" I ask, smiling as the boys are more than happy with that compromise, "Good,"
After making sure the boys are settled, I grab the remote and settle in between them, smiling as they both snuggle into my sides while I turn the tv over to movies to put the Jungle Book on for Kōri. The twins giggles between themselves as the movie starts and begins snacking on the popcorn and chocolate immediately.
"You're the best (Y/n),"...
"Yeah!"...
