Chapter 54

The gorgeous rich smells of a roasting joint of beef wafts through the house as I stir the batter for the Yorkshire puddings, a smile playing on my lips as I watch Katsuki in the corner of my eye. A faint hum leaves my lips as I set the batter on the kitchen counter and I begin to add the vegetables to the boiling water and let them begin to cook. The roast dinner slowly coming along quite nicely for tonight's dinner. My blonde fiancé fusses over the living room, fluffing the many pillows sitting happily on the two couches and the armchair to make sure that the whole house is presentable for the whirlwind of visitors we are having over.

Katsuki is close to combusting with the amount of times he's been fussing over everything. He has mopped the floors to the point that I'm surprised the floor hasn't eroded with the amount of disinfectant and bleach he added to the water when mopping. He's dusting everything as he goes and he can't even go without five minutes without finding dust somewhere. He's fluffed the pillows more times than I can count and he's even polished the tv! He's so adamant that this night goes well that his brain has been switched into overdrive.

I don't blame him though.. tonight is a very big deal.

Tonight, Katsuki and I are hosting dinner at our place with seven guests tonight. These seven guests are none other than our families. Both of Katsuki's parents are coming over bringing some desserts as well to alleviate some of the stress of me cooking for nine people already which is going to help me so much. Then, we also have my mom and my dad and my two brothers coming over plus Ichiro is bringing his girlfriend Ibara so that's an extra chair at the table. This will be the first time our parents meet one another. So this has to go well..

Plus we still haven't told them I'm engaged yet, it's not that bad though. Katsuki hasn't told his parents since they were in Milan doing a fashion week and he didn't want to pull them away from their work. So we decided tonight would be a great day, we also decided to tell everyone at the same time so no one took it the wrong way if we didn't tell them first. Katsuki's parents are very 'I have to know before everyone else' kind of people and I'm pretty sure they would crucify Katsuki if he told my parents before them.

Smiling to myself, I go back to surveying the food and making sure that the water doesn't bubble over as the potatoes boil away (a little trick I learnt is to parboil them, fluff them up and then roast them). A faint sigh leaves my lips as I notice Katsuki fussing over the many photos on the mantlepiece of the fireplace. He's really het up about this evening. It's almost starting to stress me out with the sheer amount that he's stressing...

Guess I'm going to have the bring out the big guns.

Gently, I walk toward my fiancé and press my fingertips against his upper arms. I will my quirk to take place as I allow the calming effect of my quirk to seep into his bloodstream and calm him down. The tenseness of his muscles begins to relax as he releases a small breath and turns toward me. Sending him a reassuring smile, I wrap my arms around his neck and press a faint kiss to his cheek while he nuzzles into my neck. Feeling how sweaty his hands are, I hand him a towel and allow him to dry his hands while he clears his throat and sighs to himself.

"Kat, they're not monsters. You love my family and they love you," I tell him, cupping his face in my hands and rubbing his cheek with my thumb, "Tonight is going to go great, they'll be so excited. Your parents will love this too, you know how much your mom has been going on about when you're gonna propose,"

"I know, I know... I just, I want this to go really well," He tells me, smirking playfully when he shifts one of the pictures to the left a little making me groan, "This is the first time our parents are actually meeting each other. My mom can make a bad first impression and I don't want your dad to think that you're marrying into a family of psychos,"

"Hey, my dad loves you like you're his own son. You keep me safe, you keep me happy and you're strong," I reassure him, rubbing his arms as he takes a deep breath and nods to himself, "I'm marrying into your family, and no one will stop me from doing that... not even a shitty villain,"

"God, I love you," He coos, kissing me gently. Smiling, I kiss back and pull him close while he wraps his arms around my waist to pull me even closer, "When are they arriving?"

Ding Dong!

"I guess now," I tease, snorting when he curses under his breath and heads toward the door to open it. Before he does so, I press another kiss to his cheek, "This is it, don't attack my brothers please, they owe me a bunch of things still,"

Chuckling to himself, Katsuki opens the door while I scurry back into the kitchen. As I hear Katsuki exchange pleasantries, I drain the boiled potatoes before fluffing them up in the colander and then adding them to an oven proof dish full of sizzling goose fat. Once they're all in there, I slide the oven dish back into the oven and check on the other vegetables. The cauliflower and the broccoli begin to get brighter in their respective colors, bright green and white shimmering in the artificial light of the kitchen.

Within a matter of seconds, both my mother and Katsuki's mother scurry into the kitchen to join me making me send them a small smile as I'm scooped up into a cuddle with my mother while Katsuki's mother pokes around at the food on the hob. The blonde woman even adds a little more salt and pepper to the vegetables when she thinks I'm not looking! But what do I expect? It's Mitsuki's way of saying that she can't find a fault in my cooking. So I have to pick and choose my battles (and this is a time to just let Mitsuki do what she needs to do).

"How is my little angel?" My mom coos, doing the usual coddling while I groan under my breath and wriggle out of her arms before she tries to assess me for any injuries or bruises (the woman still thinks I'm five still!), "Dinner smells amazing,"

"Yeah, that university class is teaching you well," Mitsuki teases, ruffling my hair making my mom gawk at her before fixing my hair, "I hope it's not just you cooking in this house, Katsuki knows how to cook too,"

"We take it in turns, Mitsuki, Katsuki enjoys to make dinner for us just as much as I do," I reassure her, sending her a faint smile as she nods and tastes the gravy consistency while my mother fusses over my hair even more, "Mom, mom, please stop,"

"Okay, okay, your brothers are here too," She tells me, giving me one more big squeeze before scurrying off to the living room where Katsuki is currently arm wrestling with my older brother Ichiro, "Ichiro! Don't try and break his arm please!"

Giggling to myself, I go back to worrying about the food with Mitsuki helping out with the gravy. I couldn't help but be grateful for the help, knowing that Mitsuki isn't really one to offer help, as well as grateful for the fact that Mitsuki wanted to spend a little bit of time with me. As she stirs the gravy, I pull the beef out of the oven an allow it to rest while I drain the vegetables from the boiling water. Then, I grab nine dinner plates and set them all up on the kitchen counter before I begin to plate up each of them with the roast dinner. The roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings accompanied by vegetables and juicy slices of beef that are the perfect colour. It's possibly the best roast dish I've made in a long while. To top off the dish, Mitsuki covers each meal with a generous helping of gravy before pressing a faint kiss to my forehead. Unable to stop the giggle leaving my lips and the giddy feeling in my stomach, I take the plates to the table and telling everyone to get up the table.

With everyone having a plate of food in front of them and my father happy with a cuddle from his only daughter, we all sit down at the table and begin to dig into our meals. Katsuki sits at the head of the table with me to his left and his mother to his right. Beside me, is my father and then beside him is my mother while beside Mitsuki is Masaru and then Takashi. Ichiro and Ibara are opposite each other on the end of the table. Each of us happily down our meal, smiling toward each other before Mitsuki eyes my hands.

"Sweetie, what's that on your finger?" Mitsuki asks, pointing toward my engagement ring while I exchange looks with Katsuki who sends me a reassuring smile and nods, "Is that... is that what I think this is?"

"Well, this is the reason that we called this family dinner," Katsuki begins smiling as he takes my hand in his and clears his throat to capture everyone's attention making me blush and smile happily as Masaru gasps and shakes Mitsuki already knowing what we're going to say, "But (Y/n) and I are engaged, we're going to get married,"

"Oh my god! Finally!" Mitsuki cheers, sighing in relief and punching Katsuki's arm making me laugh as he groans and rubs the part of skin that she punched, "About time! Ooh! I finally get a daughter!"

"You're engaged?! Oh my god!" My mother squeals, running to Katsuki and pulling him into a hug making him chuckle and hug her back as she kisses his cheek, "My little girl's gonna marry you! This is amazing! Ooh! I can't wait to take her dress shopping!"

"Grandkids will follow soon, I hope," Masaru teases, chuckling as Katsuki rolls his eyes playfully and sticks his tongue out while I giggle weakly at his statement, "I can't wait, do you like the ring? It was my mother's engagement ring when my father proposed to her,"

"It's beautiful," I tell him, smiling as Masaru takes my right hand and looks over the ring with a fond smile of happiness, "Now all we have to do is worry about planning the wedding,"

"I know this amazing place, Masaru and I got married there," Mitsuki explains, getting up pictures on her phone and showing Katsuki and I making us smile at each other at the sheer gorgeousness of this venue, "It's a little pricey but it's your wedding day after all, you have to splurge a little. It's near the beach and the view is incredible,"

"Well, maybe they should think about their budget first," My mother steps in making me share a look to my father who sends me a nervous smile as my mom becomes a little controlling, "They have to spend money on the catering, the venue, flowers, any extra things and of course the out --"

"Masaru and I have already agreed that we're personally handmaking both Katsuki's and (Y/n)'s outfits, we already have a couple designs so they can afford to spend more on the venue," Mitsuki tells her while Masaru sends me an awkward smile as my mother and Katsuki's mother begin to be at loggerheads at one another, "Plus it's not all going to be paid by them, surely you're going to help out because Masaru and I are. This is the only wedding my son will have and it will be the best wedding ever,"

"This is my only daughter, so she will have the best wedding but they don't need to spend tons of money on just one day. My daughter isn't even out of university yet," My mother tells her, making me look to Katsuki who kisses my cheek and heads toward the kitchen to get more food, "She needs to save money for her restaurant,"

"Uh... mom... Katsuki and I already chose a building for the restaurant. It's paid for and everything," I tell her, watching as my mother narrows her eyes before looking toward Mitsuki who is sitting there smugly, "It was an engagement gift from him to me,"

This is not a good way to start wedding planning. Two mother in laws at each others throats. Both of them having completely different views on what Katsuki and I's wedding should be like. Mitsuki wanting an expensive lavish wedding while my mother wants something that's simple and elegant but not too pricey. My parents aren't as rich as Katsuki's parents so I can understand my mother's frustration... so this is a momzilla vs momzilla situation...

"See! Let your kid have a brilliant lavish expensive wedding! Katsuki is the number two hero for gods sake!"...

"I'm not having my daughter get blinded by money!"...

"Kat, babe, can you hurry up with the cake please!?"...
