Chapter 11

While the boys chant what they want for dinner, I begin to unbuckle them from their car seats. A giggle leaving my lips as a small song of 'soba' and 'katsudon' is sang by both Kōri and Ryoku. The pair of them shimmy out of the car, still dancing to their own made up song about what they're having for dinner, and shut their door behind them before skipping to the front door and waiting for me to unlock it to let them in. The two of them dancing on the spot with a sparkle of excitement in their eyes.

Fumbling quietly for my keys, I grab the key specifically for the Todoroki estate and slide it into the lock before turning it. After hearing a click, signifying that it's unlocked, I open up the door and allow the twins to muscle their way into their living room while I walk in holding their lunch boxes and book bags. With the door shut and locked back up, I place the lunchboxes on the island in the kitchen and their book bags in their respectable places in the living room.

Running my fingers through my hair as I can now finally relax instead of being a constant stress head, I begin to empty the boys' lunch boxes. Placing wrappers in the bin before letting them soak in the sink in soapy water. A relaxed smile plays on my lips as I rest against the kitchen counter and close my eyes, taking a deep breath. God today's been hectic...

"Oh, there you -"

In an instant, I pin whoever it is against the island. Their arms held down in an arm lock behind their back by my hands while I kick the inside of their knees to make them unable to use their legs against. A small yell leaving my lips as I press the person against the island, digging the edge of it into their stomach. My heart suddenly picking back up as my breath becomes ragged while my grip tightens as they try to move in my grasp.

"Ow! Ah! (Y/n)! It's okay! It's me! It's Shoto!" The voice frantically rasps, making my whole body tense up and my eyes shoot open. It was indeed, Shoto, pinned to the island.

Oh god...

Gasping gently, I pull away from him and stare at him in horror as he slowly crumples to the floor with a wheeze. His arms cradling his stomach as he takes a deep breath, the male sending me a reassuring smile as I frantically kneel down by him to make sure that he's okay while I ignore the pulsating pain of my palms. Taking a deep breath, Shoto chuckles gently my way and sends me a small smile while I blurt out countless apologies.

"Oh my god! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I - I didn't know it was you - a - and-" I frantically exclaim, helping him to his feet. My heart in my stomach as my brain pulses nervously as he brushes himself down and chuckles gently at my sudden change of demeanour, "Please don't be mad! Oh my god! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm -"

"Hey, it's okay, don't worry," Shoto explains, rubbing my back as I squeeze my eyes tightly shut and groan gently, shaking my hands as I whine, "Deep breaths, in for four and out for five. In through your nose, out through your mouth, do it with me,"

"I - I'm so sorry..." I blurt out, sniffling gently as I follow his instructions and take deep breaths. The male rubbing my arms and letting my rest my head on his shoulder as I slowly continue to take deep breaths, my head feeling light, "I - I'm so sorry,"

"It's okay, it's okay," he reassures me, chuckling gently at my actions before noticing my palms and gasping gently, "What happened?... We need to clean these up..."

Without hesitation, Shoto opens up one of the cupboards in the kitchen and pulls out a first aid kit. The bi colour haired male sitting me down on one of the bar stools at the island before propping himself up on his own stool and taking my hands into his lap to begin bandaging them. The older male wiping a small portion of cotton wool soaked in water to clean the grazes. His eyes focusing in on my palms as I shakily watch him. My heart in my throat.

Once finished cleaning them and making sure there was no more blood crusting on my skin, he grabs bandaids from the kit and places them over the grazes with a small hum. The male sends me a reassuring smile as I pull my hands back to my person and hold them in my lap gently. The wounds still stinging slightly.

"Thank you..." I mumble softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear before arching a brow as he pulls out the ceramic cookie jaw from the cupboard, "Again... I'm really sorry about pinning you to the island..."

"Hey, it's not a problem, it was my fault for making you jump and not letting you know I finished work early," Shoto explains gently, handing me a cookie from the cookie jar as I slowly come down, the male sending me a reassuring smile as I slowly nibble at it, "At least I know if there was anyone that tried to hurt the boys, you'd be able to take them down. You have an incredibly strong grip for someone that isn't a hero,"

"Again... I'm so sorry," I explain, rubbing the back of my neck gently while I nibble at the chocolate chip cookie. A small nervous brush crawling across my cheeks at his statement as I swallow down the cookie, "I - I used to be in the hero course when I was at U.A... because my quirk wasn't as physical as anyone else's... I had to learn combat and become skilled in it..."

"You were in the hero course?" Shoto asks incredulously, staring at me with wide eyes as I nervously clear my throat and nod, "So how come... how come you're not... a hero? Did it not work out?"

"Kinda... there was... an incident... in my first year and I kind of had to drop out because of it," I explain, taking a small shaky breath as the scar on my stomach pulses at the memory, "I moved to class C after that happened and took up general studies instead..."

"Oh wow... I'm so sorry," He says gently, watching as I shrug as if it was nothing too special before turning toward the stove to begin making dinner for the twins, "Well... You sure know how to fight, I can safely say,"

"Yeah, I mean... I haven't really done combat for a while," I reply gently, boiling the soba noodles on the hob while I chop up some onions for the katsudon, "Not since my first year ended..."

"So what happened when you left the hero course?" Shoto asks, sending me a reassuring smile as I clear my throat nervously while I add a couple of garnishes to Ryoku's soba, "If you don't mind me asking?... Did you get a hero licence too?"

"Yeah... yeah I did," I explain, setting Ryoku's dinner on the side as I go to plate up Kōri's katsudon with a small hum, "In the Sport's Festival, I got to second before being beaten by Kana... I did my internship with Miss Joke because her quirk was similar to mine in a way... and I got my hero licence not long after... then... the incident happened and I dropped to General Studies, Class C at the beginning of my second year where I majored in child development and catering and food studies,"

"Do you still have your hero licence?" Shoto asks, intrigued, chuckling gently as the boys come barging into the kitchen to grab their food before skipping out to eat in the living room, "Or do you not have it?"

"I keep it with me, you never know what's gonna happen so I keep it with me just in case," I explain, grabbing my purse from my bag and pulling out my hero licence, sliding it over the counter to show him making him nod gently, "So if I do get attacked, I can just show that and I won't be penalised when I defend myself,"

"Wow..." He mutters, sending me a small smile as I slide a bowl of cold soba toward him which he happily accepts and begins to slurp up with a hum, "Well... if you ever want to brush up on your combat skills, I'm more than happy to help you out,"

"Thank you, Shoto, I really appreciate it," I reply, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear before going back to the kitchen counter to begin Momo's meal for when she returns home, "Again, I'm really sorry for earlier,"

"It's not a problem," Shoto replies with a small chuckle, digging into his soba with a slurp, the sounds making me bite back a giggle as I make some ramen for the mother of the family, "So who was your home room teacher?"

"Mr. Aizawa," I explain, chopping up some spring onions onto the chopping board as well as some bok choy while an egg boils away in the saucepan, "He helped me a lot during my first year and he still trained me in combat for my second and third year just in case I ever changed my mind about being a hero... he kind of had a soft spot for me, I guess it's because I don't have a flashy quirk like he does,"

Nodding, Shoto sends me a small smile before letting me get on with making dinner for Momo. A small hum leaves my lips as I turn off the gas underneath one of the pans before boiling the ramen in some chicken broth while I take the egg out of the boiling water and set it into some cold water too cool so I can peel the shell off.

"So... question about your quirk," Shoto hums interested, watching as I de - shell the boiled egg with a small hum, the shell cracking as I hit the top gently with a spoon and begin picking at it, "Can you calm yourself down?"

"No, I can't which means I have to find ways to calm myself down," I explain, grabbing a bowl and some chopsticks from the cupboard and begin playing Momo's ramen, "My brain doesn't have as much endorphins as the normal person because of my quirk which means that I can easily become stressed and anxious, which is part of the reason why I had to drop out of the hero course,"

Despite being stressed or anxious most of the time, cooking seemed to keep me calm as well as looking after Ryoku and Kōri. Since my quirk refuses to allow me to calm myself down, I had to find other ways to seek relief from stress and worry. Unfortunately, it only got worse since my incident... I'm just glad I've found outlets to keep myself calm and collected when I can. God knows what would happen if I didn't find an outlet...

Just in time, Momo walks into the house with a small smile and kisses her sons foreheads before walking into the kitchen just as I slice open the boiled egg and place it on top of the ramen. The black haired beauty kisses her husbands cheek before frowning gently at the bandages around my palms making me smile nervously before biting my lip.

"What happened? Are you okay? Did that girl hurt you?!" She asks worried, assessing my band aid clad hands making me giggle gently and shake my head, "What happened?"

"I uh.... I... I - I kinda... bumped into Dynamite on the way to my car and... kinda fell," I explain nervously, watching as Momo looks toward me before looking toward Shoto worried, "It's not bad, it was my fault anyway, I wasn't looking where I was going so..."

"What did he do?" Momo asks worried while Shoto's attention is caught making me nervously shuffle my feet as I begin to eat my own ramen bowl that I made while making Momo's ramen, "Did he hurt you?"

"No! No! Nothing like that, he just tried getting in my face so I kinda... kicked him in the stomach and pushed him away?" I hum, explaining it while closing my eyes and wincing as I tell them what I had done to Dynamight, however my anxiety diminishes when I hear both Momo and Shoto burst into laughter. Slowly, I open my eyes confused, "What?... You're not mad?..."

"No, why would we?" Momo asks giggling, shaking her head as she holds her stomach with a smile and leans into Shoto who chuckles, "(Y/n), Bakugo's needed someone to put him in his place for a while!"

"Huh? I don't... I don't understand?" I ask confused, trying not to giggle at the pair of them laughing between each other, "What do you mean?"

"Bakugo's never had someone do that to him," Shoto explains, fist bumping with Momo making the girl giggle and kiss his cheek before digging into her meal, "Everyone's always rolled over and let him have his way,"

"You may have just made him become attracted to you," Momo explains making me gawk at them with wide eyes, the girl giggles and bites her lip knowingly, "Well, you never know~"

Oh my god...

I'm fucked...
