Chapter Thirty-Nine (The Fateful Weekend, Pt. One)

Buies residence, Saturday morning...

"You're a right beast last night, Ja'Marco," Lachlan said devilishly as he stood in the bathroom door before the teen in question emerge from the shower with a towel around his waist. "You're going to be quite the addition in this town for everyone in due time."

"I believe it," Ja'Marco breathed, still feeling the rush of a morning romp with both Reichen and Lachlan. "And I will deny it, but you and your friends are...fuck it. I feel so lost yet found in your company. It's like I'm trapped in your spell, Buies. The way you all both repel and attract me as if we're magnets at play makes me feel...like I'm being lured deeper and deeper into a world of forbidden fruits and dark passions."

"All the more reason to let your inhibitions out while daring yourself to let down those walls that keep you from enjoying life," Lachlan purred seductively before approaching Ja'Marco and planting a gentle yet hungry kiss on his lips. "You've denied yourself the right to explore the world while letting the negative mindset cloud your thinking. Let your mind be free, Ja'Marco Hedare. Let me and my friends remake you into the image of true masculinity."

Ja'Marco gasped as he felt the towel around his waist drop to his feet as Lachlan's large hands goosed his bum cheeks before they were soon deep in a heavy makeout session.

Gentle reader, the two-day planned weekend had indeed arrived and Ja'Marco was currently at Lachlan's home as promised since the previous day. Friday afternoon and evening started off with cordial bonding time between the two of them and their friends (including the newcomer known as Oliver) before the dark-skinned athletic jock invited Ja'Marco into his bed for the night where they (and Reichen) would be lost in an overnight passion-full session that meant little sleep and more sensual activities.

And now, it was the morning of the planned two-day festivities where it would start with the planned brunch at the Quitman family home where everyone would be expecting Ja'Marco since he was the guest of honor before everyone would then troop out to the beaches for the planned twilight barbeque where he would finally discover the truth about his heritage and the birthright that he would soon inherit when his birthday arrived.

After another thirty minutes of heavy petting and another sexual romp followed by an hour spent in the shower once more, Ja'Marco and Lachlan were soon getting dressed in preparations for the brunch. "Today's going to be quite exciting, bro," Lachlan said as he slid on his designer sneakers. "By the end of the night, you're going to finally be let in on the biggest and best-kept secret that'll change the course of your future."

Ja'Marco nodded, giving the other teen a wan smile as he fastened the leather strap of his new watch. "And I'm sure that I'll allow myself to be open-minded," he replied.

Just then, a well-dressed Oliver with his hair now in a shaggy small mop, stepped in. "Hey, guys," he said. "Mrs. Hedare said for all of us to head on over right now."

To Ja'Marco, "She also has some extra guests that'll be there, Jay. Guests that you're quite familiar with."

That caught Ja'Marco's attention. If those guests who I think they are, there's no telling what might happen, he thought. He kept his composure. "I'm sure that I'll meet them," was all he could say. "Shall we go?"

"We shall," Lachlan crooned. "And don't worry, Ja'Marco. Today's going to be beneficial to everyone, even the other guests that your mom invited."

I can only imagine how it will go down. Lord, just help me make the right decision when it comes down to tonight. Just help me get ready for what's ahead, Ja'Marco prayed as he let Oliver and Lachlan led him out of the latter's bedroom and down the stairs before they joined the others in heading out the door for the two-mile trek to the Quitman home.

Meanwhile...

Jeremiah Colby and the others in his group were unhappy.

Not only were they given the official "you're-not-invited" notice by none other than Gianna and Ciara Hedare, the older man was livid to learn that Adamson extended family as well as the Freeman-Lancaster clan were given invites to the planned brunch at the Quitman household. "Something suspicious is going on," Jeremiah spat lowly as the police officers that were hired to keep them busy and under watch escorted them to a town fall festival hosted by a local church. "Melinda and the others are up to no good and I have a feeling that she already got her claws in my nephew."

He turned to Felicia who was enjoying some cotton candy. "I hope we can lose these cops, my dear. We gotta make our move to head to the beaches by nightfall."

"I have an idea," she replied sotto-voce before she led him to a nearby gaming center of the fall festival. "During the movie session, I'll be preparing some snacks for the cops. Be ready by then."

"Of course. But remember to be discreet."

"Given."

At the Quitman residence...

"Ro'Niah! La'Vanna! Kimani! Chanel! What are you guys doing here?!" Ja'Marco exclaimed upon seeing the four teens and their families together once he and the guys arrived. "I thought that-"

"Well, let's just say that your momma and her crew have reached a cease-fire with us," Ro'Niah cut him off before granting his best friend with a smile. "And since she did allow us to attend the party, we figured that we can at least be more cordial to her while having the opportunity to see you again."

"You do look like you're in your element with the other guys here," Kimani hummed, giving Ja'Marco an approving once-over. "I take it that your classmates from GVA hooked you up?"

"But of course," Lachlan said smoothly as he stepped forward. "Allow me and my friends to properly introduce ourselves. I'm Lachlan. These are my friends Reichen, Felix, and Felipe. And the other friend who's with us as well is Oliver."

Oliver, looking dapper in his earth-toned semi-formal threads, stepped forward. "Charmed," he crooned as he shook everyone's hand.

Ro'Niah and the others introduced themselves while Chanel looked uncomfortable. "Pleasure to meet y'all," La'Vanna said just as Martin and Joseph arrived with their all-male families, them looking more like perfect models in their designer threads. "Sorry if I feel a bit intimidated, but I feel like a fat-camp escapee that crashed a model revue's charity ball."

"I'm sure that you and your family and friends are just fine," Joseph assured his ex-girlfriend as Martin grasped his hand in a loving gesture. "It's awesome for everyone to come here to show Ja'Marco support."

"I'll bet," Ro'Niah said. "For now, we might as well mingle with everyone and make nice."

"That's what this party is about, young man," Melinda said as she and Francis came to the gang. To Ja'Marco, "Make sure to talk to the other sons and your guests, darling. You can't let your old and new friends get all your attention."

"Yes, ma'am," Ja'Marco said.

"All right, kids, time to have some fun and enjoy some food," Francis cheered. "Feel free to stay at the manor or head home to rest before we all head down to the barbeque at the beaches. And Ja'Marco?"

Said teen faced his birth father. "Yeah?"

"I hope that you'll be open-minded when we finally let you in on the secret."

Ja'Marco nodded. "I will," he said. "I will be open. Just as long as there's nothing crazy going on, I can give things a chance."

With that, he turned his attention to the waiting buffet before being stopped by a few of his classmates.

"I'm surprised that he doesn't know yet," Ro'Niah said as soon as Ja'Marco was out of earshot. He turned to Melinda and Francis. "You do realize that he's going to have to make the biggest decision of his life once he does find about this, right?"

"We know, Adamson," Melinda said uneasily. "And it won't make things easier when he does find out."

"I'm still spooked after what we saw yesterday," Kimani remarked, her parents nodding. "Boy, you thought you knew everything even after reading that book that no one else is allowed to read."

Francis hummed. "Dark Shores by Goddard-Slade. You've been given those books, I assume."

"That was all me," Chanel admitted. "And yes, my family and I did tell them about what happened."

Oliver stepped forward with a look of seriousness in his sea-green eyes. "You do realize that you and your family will have to join us as well," he said tersely. "After what your mother pulled..."

"We understand," Gwen interrupted. "But I'm just worried that Jay is going to hate us for pulling this betrayal."

"We'll cross that bridge once that happens," La'Vanna said. "I know that my parents and I don't wanna go through with it. We'll accept everything, but we prefer to remain normal."

"Well, Kimani and I, as well as our parents, will go through with it," Ro'Niah answered. "I might be breaking my promise to Jonah and Lizzadene Mae, but there are some things that are beyond my control."

"Wait, what about Colby and the others?" Chanel asked worriedly. "Will they-"

"As far as we know, they will not have any say on what happens next," Melinda cut her off. "And if my brother or those other nobodies dare try and crash the party tonight, they will be promptly arrested."

"Let's hope so," Ro'Niah said. "But right now, we gotta keep up appearances and get ready for what's in store for tonight. But most of all, we gotta prepare ourselves for what's happening tonight when it comes to Ja'Marco."

Gentle reader, the moment of truth will not be long before we wrap up act two of this fantastic saga. And from there, our hero will make his choice known...but one should remember what is written in the stars cannot be revoked.

Don't even think about getting comfortable just yet, folks! The big reveal and the cliffhanger is coming up next as we wrap up act two of this saga! Hold on to your hats and brace yourselves!
