Chapter Fifty
Meanwhile, at the Hallendale Boutique Hotel, Downtown...
Genevieve Daphne Portier.
Remember that name, gentle reader, as she is the close friend of Eunice and Josiah Thade. She was known as one of the remnants of Texan Southern Belles- beautiful women who were known to be ruthless and willing to protect their friends, families, and anyone whom they fancied. And since she was one of the first African-American females from the Dallas-Fort Worth are to become a Texan Southern Belle; it was all the more reason for her to keep up the image of a successful woman who had the looks, means, and status as an elite socialite.
But deep down in her heart was a devout Christian woman who knew the Bible well enough to know that abominations were the reason why the world was heading in a downward spiral. So when she learned of what was happening at the town of Glenview Valley and the revelations regarding the supernatural elements; it was more the reason for her to head to Rhode Island and help Jeremiah Colby with rescuing his nephew from what was happening to him. With her designer bags packed with tailored clothes and other things she would need, she made the flight to Newport before arriving in Glenview Valley with her bags in tow.
And now, Genevieve was currently checking into the hotel she was slated to stay for the time being. "Welcome to the Hallendale Boutique, Ms. Portier," the desk clerk said as she was given her hotel key. "We have a junior suite at the ready for you and-"
"Junior suite?" the older woman interrupted, raising her eyebrow. "I specifically asked for a penthouse suite that has two rooms. I do not sleep with my designer clothes and accessories, nor do I sleep with them. I require one room for my things and one for myself. If you cannot provide me with what I have originally requested, then please direct me to the nearest hotel."
"That won't be necessary, Ms. Portier," an older man who looked as if he was born to play football back when he was younger and athletic said. "Cole Bundchen, the head manager of the Hallendale. We have a penthouse suite at the ready and we'll make sure that you are taken care of with the finest amenities. Our apologies for the mixup."
"That's all right," Genevieve purred, fluttering her eyelashes.
Mr. Bundchen turned to the young female clerk. "Please have the Oceanide Penthouse Suite at the ready, Selene," he instructed. "And make sure that Ms. Portier is given a five-star experience during her stay."
To Genevieve, "I take it that you're here for a vacation, ma'am?"
"Something along the lines," the older woman replied smoothly. "I'm here to see old friends at their time of need and lend them with my services. And I also heard of the lost heir of the Quitman family being found with his birthday soon to come."
"That is correct, ma'am. Francis Quitman's lost son Ja'Marco Hedare is currently in his junior year at Glenview Valley Academy for Boys- the same school that my son Reichen attends with his friends."
Genevieve hummed. "Is it possible that I can get a chance to meet with the Quitmans?" she asked.
"I'm friends with Francis and his brothers, so I don't see why not. In fact, I can inform them during my lunch break. I'll arrange for you to meet them over dinner this week It's fall break at GVA this week, anyhow, so it wouldn't be a problem at all."
Genevieve smiled widely. "That'll be lovely," she purred. "I can't wait to get to know them better."
She was sure of it.
Who IS Genevieve Portier and what does she have up her sleeve? All I can say is that you'll need to stick around because she's set to meet the Quitmans and the Hedares (Ja'Marco included) in the next chapter as we're now ten chapters away from the finale!
For this chapter, Genevieve's character is based on that of Diahann Carroll's Dominique Deveraux from "Dynasty" when she arrives in Denver. The video above is perfect for this chapter!
