the divine visitor
You are worth more than endless seas of stars;
More beautiful than swathes of Northern Lights!
Your charm morphs jealous Venus into Mars
And your smile brightens a million nights.
What caused your descent to this lowly Earth?
Where we mere mortals ignite fickle fires
Which pale with the warmth from your shining mirth.
Your radiance begets many desires!
Perhaps curiosity caused your fall;
When satisfied, dismay dimmed your spirit.
Oh human nature—the vileness, the gall!
Truly, not worth a celestial visit.
I know we do not deserve your presence;
That is why you returned to the heavens.
