Sonic got up and was still a little phased and embarrassed at what he had just done.

"Hey Sonic!"

Tails came rushing to Sonic and stopped when he looked at him with more concern once more.

"What was that about?" questioned Tails to Sonic, who was trying to put the baskets back up on the shelf.

"Its nothing Tails"

"Its not nothing Sonic you literately have been staring off into space and now rushing over to what I'm sure is another person, just spill it!" Spat Tails, his voice getting a little louder this time.

Sonic sighed in defeat, he knew that he shouldn't be hiding his problems with his best friend but he didn't think that Tails would understand what he was going through.

"Tails...can we talk about it when we get home" Sighed Sonic again.

Tails nodded, and with that he and Sonic both went back to the school section to pick up their stuff and headed out the store.

As the two walked on down the sidewalk Tails had to steer Sonic away from the street since he was still oblivious to what was going on around him.

"Are you at all excited for going back to school?" questioned Tails.

"A little...I'm honestly kind of nervous though." Replied Sonic.

"It's ok to be a little nervous before starting school, heck its like with anything that's new in life." Said Tails.

"I'm mostly just worried about..."

Sonics words were once again cut off by a roaring truck peeling down the road and heading straight towards them. Sonic and Tails both jumped out of the way as fast as they could. The vehicle brushed up against Sonics quills and brushed up against Tail's tails. When the dust settled, they looked over at the bright green truck, and a green quilled hedgehog popped out of one of the windows, grinning ear to ear devilishly.

"Damnit Manic! you need to stop that!" Hollered Tails angrily at the green hedgehog.

"Aww whatsa matter? Did you ladies piss your pants?" Cackled Manic.

"Fuck off Manic" Sonic shot back.

Manic laughed again, before doing a doughnut in the road, and zooming on down the road once more.

"Man he's messed up in the head I swear" huffed Tails picking up his stuff.

"Yeah, and its even worse when its him and Jet together, they're both like a walking time bomb." Added Sonic as they continued to their home. Surprisingly the near death experience had snapped him out of his uneasy mind games for the time being.

When they turned into their street, an 18 wheeler drove on by them. Sonic looked at it, it read Moving Movers. Tails noticed it too.

"oooo this is great! Its been a while since we've had new neighbors!" Said Tails excitedly. His tails were both wagging which caught Sonic in the face.

"Tails!"

"Sorry Sonic!"

Sonic and Tails house was decently small compared to everyone elses on the block, and was slightly run down, but it was still homie enough for the 2 of them. It had only 1 bedroom and 1 and half bath, but at least they didn't have to share a bed.

The duo both headed inside their house and set down their stuff. Sonic pulled out his phone to check his social media. Tails on the other hand began digging through the pantry and pulling out baking ingredients.

"What's that's for?" asked Sonic looking up from his phone curiously. Food tended to always get the best of him.

"I wanna make a welcoming gift for the new neighbors!" answered Tails excitedly.

"Oh, that'll be nice, I'm sure that they'll love those cookies of yours!" said Sonic.

As the time passed some, Tails had just put the oatmeal cookies in the oven, and Sonic was lying on the couch with his headphones listening to "Second Chance" by Shinedown.

 The afternoon eventually turned into evening, and people were getting off work to get home. Just then the doorbell rang. Tails went over to answer it, revealing a red echidna standing in the doorway.

"Hey Knux, how it going?" greeted Tails Cheerfully up at him.

"Not great Tails...my damn car broke down again, can you help me fix it, again?" asked the sweating echidna.

"Lord Knuckles what did you do to it this time?" chuckled Tails as he exited the house with Knuckles by his side.

Sonic was left alone with his music and silence. A ding went off signaling that the cookies were finished baking, prompting Sonic to get off the couch. He headed over to the oven and put on an oven mit and pulled out the cookies from within. The sweet smell exploded up his nose. 'Tails really does make the best cookies' thought Sonic as his mouth began to water in hunger. He got out a tupperware container and a spatula to scoop the cookies into. He set aside a couple for himself though, he just couldn't resist.

As Sonic sealed the container, the door opened, with Tails and Knuckles entering.

"Well, Its going to take a few moments for the battery to charge, so Knuckles is going to stay for dinner, if that's cool?" said Tails Wiping his forehead of sweat.

"Yeah! It should be fun." Replied Sonic.

Tails noticed the Tupperware of cookies in Sonic's hand and got excited again.

"oooo right Sonic, lets go over to the neihbors!" beamed Tails.

With that the two headed up the road to greet the new neighbors. Knuckles decided to stay behind, after a long day of physical labor, he didn't want to interact with anyone.

As they got closer, Tails kept guessing who it might be that would be joining them.

"I wonder if it's a old couple, or a young gay couple, or lesbians or trans or pans or-"

"Tails calm down they might hear you little buddy" chuckled Sonic.

Eventually they arrived at the doorsteps of the house. Its was decently big, but it needed a good amount of work done to it in order for it to be restored. It was proved when Tails had grabbed the handrail, and it gave away.

"oh shit, Tails" said Sonic

"It was an accident Sonic! I didn't know it was just going to break." Replied Tails loudly.

"Shh" hissed Sonic.

Just then the door opened. Sonic turned around and when he saw who it was, he dropped the Tupperware.

In the doorway stood that black and red hedgehog that Sonic had ran into at the store. He stood there, his ruby red eyes locking onto Sonics green ones once more, causing the blue hedgehog to gulp.

"Fuck me...."
