Trapped in the Dungeon Chapter 3

Your mind races as you sit in the cold, dark cell. The damp air clings to your skin, and the silence of the dungeon is almost suffocating. The weight of everything that’s happened—the loss of your friends’ memories, the twisted reality they now find themselves in—settles heavily on your shoulders. You wanted to scream, to fight back, but you knew it’s no use. For now, you're trapped.

The sound of footsteps echoes through the dungeon, growing louder and louder until they stop right outside your cell. Slowly, the heavy iron door creaks open, and a familiar figure steps inside, carrying a tray of food. It’s Tails.

Your heart skips a beat. Tails? You rised quickly from the floor, rushing to the bars of the cell, eyes wide with hope. “Tails! You’re here!” You couldn't contain the relief in your voice, the desperate need for someone, anyone, to remember you.

Tails looks at you with confusion, his expression blank. “Do I know you?” he asks, his voice soft but distant, as if you were a stranger to him.

Your stomach drops, and you stagger back, the hope in your chest crumbling into nothing. “What? Tails, it’s me… Y/N! We’re friends! We—”

Tails interrupts you, his brow furrowing. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know you.” He pauses for a moment, his tails flicking behind him nervously. “I… I work for King Nazo. I’m supposed to bring food to prisoners like you.”

Your heart aches at the coldness in his words. This isn’t the Tails they knew. The kind, curious, loyal Tails who would never serve someone like Nazo. But in this world, everything has changed. Tails' eyes look at them with no recognition, no warmth—just a neutral indifference.

You took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. “Tails, you have to remember me. You can’t be working for him. You—”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Tails interrupts again, looking down at the tray in his hands. “You’re a prisoner. I’m just doing my job. It’s what I’m supposed to do.” He sets the tray down on the ground in front of the cell and steps back, his gaze distant. “I don’t know you, and I don’t want any trouble. Just… stay here until the King says otherwise.”

With that, Tails turns and walks away, leaving you with nothing but the sound of his retreating footsteps. The door to the dungeon slams shut once more, and you were left standing alone in the cold, empty silence.

You stared at the food tray on the ground, your heart breaking at the sight of Tails’ blank expression. The Tails you knew—the Tails who was always so caring, so quick to help—was gone. In his place stood someone who didn’t even recognize you, who had no memories of their friendship.

But you refused to give up. If there’s one thing you knew for sure, it’s that you can’t let Nazo win. You had to find a way to get your friends back. You had to remind yourself of who you are, of the bonds you shared. And maybe, just maybe, you can save this twisted world from Nazo’s control.

You paced back and forth in the small, cold cell, your mind racing with plans. The encounter with Tails stung more than you'd let on—seeing him so distant, so different—but you can’t let yourself fall apart. Not now. There has to be a way to escape this nightmare. There has to be a way to save your friends.

You spotted a small, reflective shard on the ground, a fragment of metal or glass that must have come from somewhere in the dungeon. You picked it up, feeling the weight of the object in your hand. It’s not much, but it could work.

“Think, Y/N. You’ve got this.”

The clanking of armor outside the cell door catches your attention. You froze, listening closely. It’s Shadow. You knew you didn't have much time. If you want to escape, now’s your chance.

Your heart races as you glanced around the dungeon, looking for something to use. The walls are damp and grimy, but you noticed a torch on the wall, flickering weakly in the darkness. With a quick motion, you tucked the shard into your pocket and stands tall, ready for your move.

Shadow enters the dungeon, his eyes cold and calculating as usual. He stops in front of your cell, his piercing gaze locking onto you. “Still plotting an escape, are we?” he says with a smirk, his voice low and controlled. “It’s pointless.”

You don't respond at first, your mind calculating your next move. Shadow steps closer, and that’s when you makes your move. You quickly grabbed the shard from your pocket and threw it toward the torch. The small piece of metal bounces off the wall, sending a burst of light in Shadow’s direction.

In the split second that follows, you used the flash of light to your advantage. You duck low, grabbing the torch from the wall and swinging it toward Shadow’s face. The sudden bright flame momentarily blinds him, causing him to stagger back with a harsh growl.

“Damn it!” Shadow yells, his hands going to his eyes as he tries to recover.

You seize the opportunity. You rushed past him, darting out of the dungeon cell and into the hall. The adrenaline surges through your veins, your heart pounding in your chest as you heard Shadow shout behind you, “Get her!”

But you're already moving. You sprint through the dark, winding corridors of the castle, your mind laser-focused on escaping. The noise of footsteps and armored Knights pursuing you is loud, but you didn't dare look back. You can’t afford to waste time.

Finally, you reached the outside courtyard of the castle. Your eyes scan the area, and that’s when you saw it—a glimmer of hope.

In the distance, through the misty air and crumbling landscape, you spot a carriage. It’s Sonic’s. You recognized it immediately, the familiar shape and the horses tied to the front. He’s preparing the carriage, though it seems as though he’s not in a hurry.

Without a second thought, you bolted toward the carriage, your legs pushing you faster than you thought possible. The sound of Shadow’s voice echoing behind you urges you forward.

Sonic looks up, his eyes widening in surprise when he sees you running toward him. He hesitates for a moment, clearly confused, but before he can say anything, you jumped into the carriage, grabbing his arm firmly. “Sonic, we need to go, now! They’re after me!”

Sonic looks hesitant, his confusion still evident on his face. “What’s going on? Why are you—”

But you didn't have time to explain. “Hurry! Get the horses moving!” you urged, desperation in your voice.

Sonic, still unsure but feeling the urgency in your tone, does as you ask. He takes the reins and kicks the horses into action. The carriage jolts forward, moving at a fast pace as you looks over your shoulder, seeing Shadow and his Knights emerging from the castle gates, chasing after them.

“I knew this would be trouble,” Sonic mutters under his breath, glancing at you. “But I guess you know something I don’t, huh?”

You turned to him, your eyes narrowing with determination. “Just keep running. We can’t let them catch us.”
