Previously on Sonic UA...

One of the hero teams clashed with Mecha Knight, who was revealed to be Aura with amnesia.

Though it almost seemed like he was about to defeat all of them, they managed to get through to Aura and help him remember who he is.

And after one of the other teams defeats, the Egg Emperor, most of the cast is now on the Egg Carrier to move to get Eggman once and for all.

But the Chaotix soon discovered that the Eggman everyone was facing is an imposter, while the real Eggman was locked away in a room on his own Egg Carrier.

Who could possibly be responsible for all of these actions, including the coronation attack?

Back with the Chaotix inside the Egg Carrier, they were questioning Eggman on the whole scenario.

"So if you're not the one calling the shots over your own army....who is?" Vector asks him. "You better answer quickly because my partner here is armed and ready."

Charmy shows his stinger, knowing he can use it as many times as necessary on the human doctor.

"That won't be necessary, I got the answers you're looking for." A voice says to them

The Chaotix check in a corner to find Class tied up, Espio going over and cutting him free.

"Why are you being held here?" Espio asks the canine detective.

"I was knocked out and kidnapped by Eggman's "Ultimate Weapon", thrown in here with the foolish wannabe Frankenstein that decided he would play god." Class explained to the group.

The dog then tells the Chaotix further.

"I was looking into his files and discovered that Eggman had unearthed more of the projects and discoveries his grandfather Gerald made many decades ago.......including his discovery of ancient tech from a civilization dating back to a Pre-Disaster Mobius."

"The tech is special in that the robotic programming seems to combine scanning, data collecting and nanotechnology into a form of a creation that can copy other living beings in power and abilities."

"So who stole this tech and is planning to use it while keeping Eggman here?" Vector asks Class, despite not liking having to work with him.

"Think Vector, think!" Class turns to him. "Which of Eggman's creations would stand to gain from this specific design? Which robot would love to use it to prove superior to Sonic?"

"Well....I mean there is a lot of robots based on Sonic." Charmy shrugs in response.

"Yes...but there's only one robot that stands to gain from all of this and is more sentient than Sonic's other robot doppelgängers." Class tells the Chaotix.

Later up on the deck of the Egg Carrier...

The Chaotix and Class rush up onto the deck with Eggman, only arriving a minute after every other team was there.

Though it seems they're too late to warn everyone as someone points out...

"Look! Up there!" Hip says as he points at a figure standing on the highest point of the ship.

"What in tarnation is that?!" Bunnie says with a surprised face like everyone else.

"It's the upgraded form of Metal Sonic that was created when he took in special data from the projects I looked into and combined it with any life data he could find!" Eggman answered all of them.

"Neo Metal Sonic!"

The area was stormy around the ship as they finally hear Neo Metal Sonic talk for once.

"All living things kneel before your master!"

Lightning comes down from above and destroys the top part of the Egg Carrier, though Neo Metal uses the debris from the Egg Carrier and the other ships......to evolve further.

The heroes are forced to watch as something monstrous formed from this, many parts, wires and sharp spikes connecting together into one massive robot.

Neo Metal Sonic is now...

Metal Overlord!

"Metal Sonic has finally transformed!" Eggman says in a panic.
