Prologue:

Here's the prologue to the story, now I decided to change up the Reader's backstory a bit from the Bio to better reflect Lucas' of course that will also be changed up a bit.
_______________________________________

It was always hard for you to go to sleep.

Every night trying to sleep was a struggle.

Because every time you closed your eyes and attempted to drift off, you'd be haunted by...that night.

The screams, the fire...the sight of your dead mother...it was all too much for you.

Every dream you had was always a perfect recreation of the night you lost your family and every night you'd wake up in a cold sweat.

Then you'd proceed to not sleep for the entire evening.

It was hard to cope with loss, no one needed to tell you that, the boy who lost his entire family in a single night.

Once again you were awake in your bed with the desk lamp on staring at the last remnants of your now completely broken family.

This photo of you, your mother, your father, your brother and your dog was a great source of pain for you, but it was also all you had to remember your family.

Your father Flint, your mother Hinawa, your dog Boney and your brother Claus.

All those important to you apart from Boney, were now gone, and even after years, the pain never lessened.

After the incident, your uncle and aunt from the city came to pick you up from your village to let you live a somewhat normal life after the horrors you witnessed.

But this large, almost empty mansion was a far cry from the warm and comforting home that now felt like a distant memory or even a dream.

Your uncle Roland and your aunt Melissa were almost never home anyway and all you had to keep you company were the Butlers and other Servants of the Mansion.

Your aunt and uncle were very wealthy, but all the money in the world couldn't fill the hole that was left in your heart, the hole only your family could fill.

You gazed over at the empty beside you, secretly hoping to see your brother there, but unsurprisingly found it empty and bare.

There was no point in attempting to go back to sleep now, you never could after a rude awakening.

So you got up and took a look at yourself in the room mirror.

You let out a sigh and decided to head downstairs to have a glass of water.

After sweating so much you needed to get rehydrated, then you'd spend the rest of your night watching anime which was something you had gotten into while here.

As you finally reached the downstairs area, a strange splashing sound got your attention, it was coming from the pool outside.

Looking through the large glass windows to the pool outside you saw something was splashing around there.

"Did an Animal fall in?" You wondered with a raised brow.

You weren't too worried about it, most animals are surprisingly good swimmers.

Even Bats were good swimmers and that splashing looked to big to be some kind of bird which would actually be in danger of drowning.

However...the splashing was rather frantic, almost as frantic as you when you were first learning to swim with...your brother needing to help you.

The splashing snapped you out of your reminiscing and you saw a pair of thin arms attempting to reach out and attempt to grab at something.

"Is it a person?" You asked softly now feeling more worried for the unfortunate soul.

It was clear they were drowning now and your body immediately began stiffening up.

Your brain was scrambling on what to do, like it usually did in situations like this.

You're ashamed to admit it, but you've always been kind of a scaredy cat, even before you lost your family.

Claus was always braver than you, he was stronger, faster and just...better than you at everything.

Sometimes you wondered if you were even brothers given how different you were.

If he were in your situation right now, he would've rushed in and saved that drowning individual without giving it a second thought.

Unfortunately, you weren't your brother.

You weren't brave, or strong, or anything really, and you hated it.

You hated being so weak, so helpless, you always relied on your brother or other family to help you out of tough situations.

But they weren't here now...you were though, and you had to do something.

To your horror, the frantic splashing grew weaker and the arms seemed to sink signaling the victim was not going to last long.

You clutched your chest as your heartbeat skyrocketed in panic.

You did not want to let a person die in front of you if you could do anything about it.

So, your body began moving on it's own.

You ran as fast as you could outside towards the pool towards the drowning victim who was now just barely moving.

There were still bubbles coming up from to the surface of the water so the individual was still alive.

Without hesitation you dived into the cold water of the luxury pool and grabbed onto any part of the person's body and began trying to pull them up onto surface.

It was hard, seemingly impossible for you.

As stated before, you weren't very strong and dragging something through water wasn't easy.

However, somehow you managed to do it, you managed to pull yourself and whoever this was onto the safety of dry land.

Your PJs were beyond soaked, but all that mattered was that you saved this person.

A bit of water got into your lungs and you began coughing a bit, the person you just saved was in the same boat, probably a lot worse though considering they nearly drowned as they coughed along with you.

You finally ended your coughing and looked at the individual to make sure they were doing okay.

However, what you saw was something truly bizarre.

Sonic the Hedgehog:

It was some kind of...animal?

Or maybe it was an Alien?

Whatever it was, it certainly wasn't human.

Whatever this thing was also finally finished coughing and went into a sitting position to look up at you.

You were too stunned to move or even speak as you and the creature locked eyes for a good long while.

"You...saved me..." It said surprised while you just stared on wide-eyed.

"Thanks for..." Before the creature could finish it's sentence you let out an extremely loud terrified scream.

With adrenaline pumping through your body, with surprising speed you bolted back into the house with surprising speed that shocked the creature.

The creature known as Sonic stared on in shock at what he just witnessed.

"Wow...that was almost as fast as me." He stated to no one in particular.

And there's this short little prologue done.

More details about your backstory will be revealed as the story progresses cause I can't fit all that into a prologue.

Hope you enjoyed this and hope you stay tuned for what comes next.

I'm not good with emotional moments, I'm more of a comedy guy, but I'll try and improve cause I know I can do better.
