Previously on Sonic Prime

"Get the rock out of the ground!" Eggman ordered

"Sonic, we don't know what the Prism is capable of. Be careful." Tails warned him.

"Step away from the rock, Egghead."

"Not this time, you fool."

Sonic speeds toward the Prism. Eggman struggles to pull it free. The electricity bolts arc around its claws. Gwen notices this and feels something wasn't right and roller skates after Sonic in speed.

"Sonic, stop! Something's wrong!!"

Sonic jumps and spins at it as Gwen jumps at her brother at the same time. Eggman grins.

"Sonic, wait!!" Tails called.

Something glows from under the Prism. Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Tails, including Gwen all shouted.

"SONIC, NO!!"

Sonic stands up with a groan and places a hand on his head. Gwen gets up with a groan as she shakes her head out of her dizziness.

"That's a sonic boom of a headache."

"Ditto."

"Where... are we?" Gwen asked, looking around.

"We could really use a familiar face right about now" Sonic begins to worried

Gwen spots a certain yellow face of the fox with pointy ears.

"Sonic! I think it's him!"

"Tails?"

"Who sent you?"

He points a light at Sonic, blinding him then he jumps down and kicks Sonic into some barrels. Nine was about to stab him with his mechanical tails if it weren't for Gwen blocking them with her crystal ice katana sword. Nine turns to her and his eyes widens in recognition.

"I-Iris...?"

Gwen looks at him confused.

"Uh... I think you got the wrong person."

Nine leaps at Sonic and Gwen as the hedgehog siblings leaps back. They jump from car to car.

"Tails, stop! We're buds! Amigos!"

"Please! Let's just talk about this!"

Nine leaps at them again and Sonic and Gwen dodges. Nine slips off and hangs by a couple of tails.

"Whoa!" he yelped.

His eyes widens to see another train approaching as it's about to crash into him. Sonic and Gwen jumps down, grabs Nine, and lands on the platform just in time from the approaching train. They slid and roll to a stop. Nine pants heavily and looks up at them in shock.

"You two saved me?"

"We've been trying to tell you that we are friends."

"And I'm not Iris."

"They're connected to the Prism energy. His shoes and her hair are picking up on the energy signature." Nine said, looking at the screen.

"I shatter the Paradox Prism while sis tried to stop me. I broke... everything." Sonic said softly, looking at Nine and Gwen.

"If there's anyone who's got the brains to put it all back together, it's you." Sonic tells Nine to help to fix the mess as Gwen deals with the Chaos Council.

"That's the first thing you've said that I agree with. Sonic, what's happening?" Nine agrees with the hedgehog but when Sonic touch the Shard something pulls him.

"I'm sorry for not listening to you, sis. You are right. I should've kept my promise." Sonic apologized.

Gwen looks at him for a moment before smiling and hugging him.

"It's okay. I forgive you."

"Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed as he gets sucked into the Shard.

"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! This is another alternate Green Hill."

"Sonic! Gwen!" Shadow called.

"Shadow?" Sonic and Gwen questioned in shock

"I'm lost in the void." Shadow said

"Where were you? Where's Iris?" Knucks demanded, glaring at Sonic.

"I didn't steal the Shard." Sonic said.

"No, but Nine did, right before he left us high and dry and making me disappear." Gwen gritted her teeth in anger.

Sonic looks surprised.

"He did?"

"You wanna know why I snapped? Well, here's the thing. He's not loyal as I thought he is. And to think I believed and trusted him..." Gwen said, looking down in sadness, betrayal, and anger.

"Surrender the energy crystal and we'll promise to make your demise quick and painless." Dr. Deep ordered.

"Sonic, Gwen, hang on!" Nine shouted in his aircraft.

"Get him!" Deep ordered.

"Nine! Holy, man. Just in time!" Sonic said, smiling.

"I have to show you two what I found." Nine said.

Nine pushes the lever forward, causing the Shatter Drive to speed up into another portal. Under a greenish sky, Nine flies over bare and brown land. Formations of beam stick up far apart and Nine lands.

"What the?!" Gwen said.

"Another world..." Sonic said in surprise.

"I call it: The Grim." Nine explained. "It's a clean slate. The perfect place to start over and get the world right. With the proper fortifications and enough Shard energy, it could be home."

In Shatter Space, Shadow confronts Sonic.

"Green Hill is gone. It doesn't exist anymore. The Ghost Prism shows us how the other Shards need to be placed together."

"We gotta show Nine. He's just like Tails." Sonic suggested.

"No. He's not Tails, he's Nine. And they're not your real friends!" Shadow said.

"Look, I know he can't be trusted. But he's real and this is his reality. Along with everyone else." Gwen said.

"Back up off Nine." Sonic defended Nine.

"You admire him, don't you? For all of your bluster, you think of him as a friend." Mr. Doctor Eggman said.

"High-five!" Nine said, giving Sonic a high-five.

"We've got to get to Ghost Hill. It's got a fourth Shard in this blueprint "thingy"." Sonic explained.

"Ghost Hill is our home. Our real home." Gwen said.

"Blueprint?" Nine scratched his head in thought.

The case attaches to the bottom of the Shatterdrive. Nine's eyes lit up in realization.

"That's the key to putting the prism back together!"

Nine moves his controls as he makes his craft turn and dodges fires, shooting Eggforcers ahead of it.

"Ha-ha! Mess with our best bud, and you get blasted!" Sonic grinned.

Nine grins and shakes his head a little while Gwen smiles.

Back to Ghost Hill as Sonic questions Shadow.

"You really don't trust him, do ya?"

"No." Shadow answered.

"I don't get it. I thought this would work!" Sonic said.

"There's still one Shard missing." Nine said, glancing at Gwen.

"What?" Sonic questioned.

"The last Shard is in... Gwen." Nine revealed.

"What? Sis, what's he talking about?"

Sonic turned to Gwen, who looked away.

"I... It's true. I have a shard inside me."

He couldn't what he just heard.

"But that's... impossible."

"Does it make you wonder how I got these powers and my sudden hair dye?" Gwen asked.

Sonic flashes back to when Gwen started to discover her power and when she almost got sucked into the blueprint with the yellow shard.

"No way... Why didn't you tell me this?"

"Because I didn't want to worry you. And if I keep using up all of my powers, I... I..."

"She becomes the full version of the Paradox Prism. She... will disappear." Nine sadly confirmed.

Then the argument gets heated.

"You just assumed I'd go along with you no matter what. Did you even consider what I wanted?!" he yelled, pointing his tail at Sonic.

"Nine... I trusted you. I gave you a second chance to make things right. You're still running away?!!" Gwen said, now glaring at Nine.

Nine shoots at the blueprint, causing a shockwave to erupt from the mountain. After that shockwave, Nine carries the shards with his tails to the purple portal with unconscious Gwen in his arms.

"Wait! We can make this work Nine. Trust me! Please let her go!" Sonic pleaded.

Nine glares back angrily.

"The only two people I can trust is myself and Gwen. And I will protect her and keep her safe from you."

Nine goes through the portal with Gwen before it closes as the flashback ends.

In the Grim, in Nine's lair

"The only two people I can trust is myself and Gwen. And I will protect her and keep her safe from you."

Nine exits a portal and enters his base.

"Sonic! The fool! This could have been everything he ever wanted." he growled angrily.

He takes a deep breath.

"No matter. I have the Shards now. And Gwen..."

Nine looks down at the unconscious Gwen softly and places her on the couch. He then begins climbing up a ladder, and makes it up to a machine which holds the Grim Shard.

"And I know exactly where each one of them fits. Like the pieces of a puzzle."

Nine uses his mechanical tails, which are holding all of the Shards one-by-one, begins inserting them into the machine. He puts the Red, Green, Blue, & Yellow Shards into the machine.

"Last one."

He looks back at Gwen and approaches her. He looks down at her chest where the last Shard is inside her and takes a deep breath.

"Here goes nothing."

With his mechanical tails, he carefully zaps at Gwen's chest and it glows brightly, blinding him a bit. Nine then slowly removes the Shard out of her chest as it slowly rises until it's fully released as it reveals a purple Shard. He smiles at his success and looks at Gwen to see her still breathing, much to his relief. He walks back to the machine and inserts the last Shard, the Purple Shard. All of the Shards glow and are put back together, forming the Paradox Prism.

"The Paradox Prism. With this, I can transform the Grim..."

Nine begins extracting energy from the Prism using his mechanical tails.

"..and make it stable. Make it perfect!"

Nine releases all of the energy he has connected from the Paradox Prism. Outside of The Grim, Nine is building his new home. Soon, his new home is complete. It resembles a castle. Nine flies out from the top of his home and gathers more energy from the Prism to make a dome over his home. Nine looks around and smiles, proud of what he has created.

Back at Ghost Hill, it begins to decay and even float away. On the top of Temple Mountain, where Shadow can be seen looking around at what is going on.

"Any chance at bringing Green Hill back is gone. How could Nine betray us? But worse of all, my sister was taken by Nine?" Sonic become sad and feel bad for his sister.

"It's destabilizing." Shadow rushes over to Sonic. "Sonic, I told you Nine couldn't be trusted and you let him took Gwen away from us. Whatever he's up to, it's causing this world to fracture." Shadow tried to warm sonic but won't listen.

"I don't understand. Why would he--?" Sonic doesn't understand what happens to Nine.

"Pull yourself together! This mountain is decaying, and it's going to take us with it. We have to run!" Shadow interrupted sonic to escape.

Shadow grabs Sonic's hand and Sonic runs together with Shadow out of the mountain. They begin to make their way down to the mountain, but it quickly begins to decay. Shadow looks behind him and notices it decaying. He pushes Sonic.

"Jump!" Shadow yelled

Both Sonic and Shadow jump off the mountain. Shadow lands on the ground safely, but Sonic lands face-first. He gives Shadow a quick thumbs-up to thank him, until he hears the rumbling coming from the mountain as even the atmosphere begins to shake. He looks at the now-decaying mountain.

"Whoa." Sonic looks around the Ghost Hill is beginning to decay.

"We need to leave this world." Shadow tells sonic to escape from getting decayed.

"You don't have to tell me twice." Sonic said

Sonic runs off and Shadow follows after him. At Yoke HQ in the sky, which can still be seen in Ghost Hill.

"I told you we couldn't trust that fox! I knew he'd steal the Shards the first chance he got!" Mr. Dr. Eggman yelled at them.

"Well, you said nothing of the sort. You're just trying to cover your tracks, like you try to cover your head with that silly toupee!" Dr. Done-It tell him back.

"Trying and failing." Dr. Don't agreed.

"Gentlemen, forget the fox."

Dr. Deep places Dr. Babble back into his seat.

"Look around."

He points to the Ghost Hill decaying.

"This world draws its last breath."

"And so will we, if we don't get out of here!" Dr. Done-It added.

"Agreed, but without the Shards, our energy supply is low. We barely have enough to portal back to New Yoke!" Mr. Doctor Eggman said.

Dr. Babble babbles in anger.

"Agreed. Set a course for New Yoke, post haste!" Dr. Deep said.

The Chaos Council open up a portal leading to New Yoke City and make their way through the portal. The camera cuts to Sonic and Shadow again, and they are running together to make their way out of Ghost Hill.

"If we can gain enough speed, we should be able to teleport out. To higher ground." Shadow said.

Sonic and Shadow jump off two walls, and Shadow grabs Sonic's hand once more, flinging him onto one of the bridges in Ghost Hill. Shadow spin-dashes onto the bridge and continues running together with Sonic, but as they are running, the bridge begins to decay underneath them.

"Faster!" Shadow ordered.

Both of the hedgehogs begin to pick up their pace, with Sonic even performing his Super Peel Out to go faster. Before they make it to the end of the bridge, though, they are flung off the bridge and land on the ground. Shadow gets up and coughs, then he looks to Sonic. Sonic is looking at the Ghost Hill versions of his friends.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman. And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!" Ghost Hill Tails said.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth." Ghost Hill Amy said.

"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash. And uh, Gwen, uh... y-you're the amazing person I've ever met." Ghost Hill Knuckles said.

"I thought we went over this. They're not real." Shadow reminded.

"Maybe I can save them." Sonic frowned.

Shadow tries reaching his hand out to comfort Sonic, but stops as soon as Sonic turns to him.

"I have to try."

Ghost Hill Tails: As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman.

Ghost Hill Amy: The forest is the most beautiful place on earth.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman. And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!" Ghost Hill Tails repeated.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth." Ghost Hill Amy repeated.

Sonic begins to walk up to the Ghost Hill versions of his friends, but Shadow stops him.

"No! They can't be saved. Think about your real friends, the ones who still have a chance. If you want to help them, we need to get out of here."

Sonic puts his hand on Shadow and pushes him to the side. Sonic begins to watch as the Ghost Hill versions of his friends begin to float away.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth." Ghost Hill Amy repeated.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman. And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!" Ghost Hill Tails repeated.

"Tails... I'll see you again, little buddy."

Sonic turns away with a sad look on his face, before abruptly becoming serious as he faces Shadow.

"Let's get out of here."

Both of the hedgehogs begin to run together, making their way out of Ghost Hill with everything they have. They pass all sorts of objects as they make their way out, such as the palm trees, rocks, and more. Shadow gives Sonic a boost again to fling him onto another bridge and Shadow follows behind. However, like how it happened before, the bridge begins to decay as they run along it.

"We're never gonna hit speed. How are we gonna get out of here?" Sonic said.

Shadow looks up, and notices a portal in the sky leading to the Shatterverse.

"That's our exit."

"Right. We need to get vertical!" Sonic nodded.

"Jump!" Shadow shouted.

Sonic and Shadow jump on multiple rocks and as they get closer to the exit, they look at each other before taking one last giant leap and spindash onto a few more rocks before they aim directly for the exit. They make it out of Ghost Hill just in time and land safely on a rock. Soon, the Gateway to Ghost Hill explodes. Another rock is sent flying towards the one that Sonic and Shadow are standing on, and they are flown off the rock. They scream, but manage to grab hold of another rock.

"Hang on!" Sonic shouted.

As they both hang onto the rock, Shadow's right hand slips off the rock, but he is luckily still grabbing on with his left one. He grabs on again. Soon, the rock they were hanging onto bumps into another rock, and they land on the rock that they bumped into. They climb up to the top of the rock.

"It's gone." Sonic frowned.

Both of the hedgehogs get up and look at what happened to Ghost Hill's Gateway.

"If this can happen to the Ghost Hill, it can happen to the other Shatterspaces." Sonic said.

"Nine betrayed you, took Gwen away from us, and left us to die, and he will pay for it." Shadow growled, tightening his fist.

Sonic looks at Shadow with a serious look.

Back at Nine's lair, Nine activates his mechanical tails and grab some of the parts on the inside of his home. He extracts energy from the Paradox Prism using his mechanical tails and tries creating something, but the first try goes wrong.

"No!"

He gets another pair and tries again.

"I need more power."

He extracts energy from the Paradox Prism again, hoping that the second try goes right this time, but he realizes it still isn't enough power.

"Still not enough. More energy!"

Nine gives it everything he has to gain as much energy as he can from the Paradox Prism. Suddenly, energy from the Paradox Prism stops extracting to Tails Nine, and he falls to the ground. He gets up and notices that he has finally made his creation. He is surprised, but smiles at what he has created.

"Hello, Friend."

The atmosphere begins to shake.

"What's going on?"

He jumps down to the main floor.

"I must have diverted too much energy from the force field? Huh?"

Nine looks at the screen in his lair and notices that the Grim is starting to Decay.

"The Grim is starting to Decay! No, no. This doesn't make sense."

He flies up to where the Paradox Prism is again.

"I collected all the Shards. I aligned them perfectly." he let out a frustrated grunt. "What am I missing?!"

He flashbacks to when the Chaos Council put tests on Sonic to determine how powerful he is with his speed.

"I knew it. He's got the same energy that powers the city."

The flashback ends as Nine glares in realization.

"Sonic."

"...Nine?"

Nine turns to see Gwen waking up as she sits up from the couch.

" What happened? Where are we? And... Sonic! Shadow! Where's Sonic and Shadow? The last thing I remember is..."

Gwen gets worried for Sonic and Shadow until she remembers one thing: Nine betrayed them again and took her to the Grim. Then she gets madder and more mad than before.

"Nine! Why did you betray me again?! After all we've been through! And I trusted you! And...!" Gwen yelled at Nine as he tried to explain.

"Gwen please understand this, I brought you here because I removed the Shard from inside you and sonic couldn't handle the truth of..."

She cuts him off.

"Removes the shard from within me is one thing. But betrayed Sonic and kidnapped me to the Grim is like from bad to the worst!" Gwen have never been sad and betrayed at the same time.

"I know but we could make a new home..." Nine told Gwen to make better place but nothing is like Green Hills.

"Green Hills was my home until you destroy it, I can't believe all this time and you never change, I don't know what Iris would say. Or I'm not Iris anymore or any of my versions because they died for one reason: reasoning and protecting but they never listen and only listen to themselves."

Gwen's speech was making Nine sad and feel so bad for Gwen and her home, especially her own brother.

"I need some space."

"But--"

"Just leave me alone."

With that, she turned her back on him, looking away. Nine's ears droop and then leaves. Gwen sighs and lies down on the couch, thinking about Sonic, Shadow and her friends. Closing her eyes, she begins to sing.

Gwen continues to sing as she walk out of his lair to the top to see the view of the Grim with the force field as she feels desperate and saddened.

"Sonic, Shadow, where are you?"

Gwen hopes they'll come to rescue her and try to reason Nine as she begins to let a tear off of her eye and fall down on her cheek.

Back at the Void, Sonic can be seen sitting down on a rock, covering his face in frustration. He opens one eye and then takes his hands off his face. Shadow walks up to him.

"Ghost Hill is gone, Gwen is gone and the Shards are gone." Sonic is frustrated to see loss of one chance to set things right.

"If knowing you has taught me anything, there's always another way." Shadow said, making Sonic look at him in surprise.

"Wait, was that a compliment?" Sonic asked, wanting to make sure he heard it right.

Shadow gives Sonic an unamused look.

"Nine and Gwen is out there... hiding in one of the Shatterspaces."

"Hmm... The Grim! Of course!" Sonic jumped up. "There's another gateway and a fifth Shard."

"That explains why he wasn't able to rebuild the Prism." Shadow said.

A rock flies towards Sonic and Shadow, but they manage to dodge.

"Whoa!" Sonic exclaimed.

"Can you remember where the gateway is?" Shadow asked.

Sonic gets up.

"Of course. Nine brought me and sis there in his Shattercraft."

He moves to the left.

"It's, uh, this way. Wait. No, no."

He moves to the right.

"Uh, right. It's totally this way. Come on!"

Sonic flies off and Shadow follows after him, making their way to the Gateway that leads to The Grim. Sonic ducks under a rock.

"Whoa!"

They both continue to make their way to the Gateway. As they get closer to the Gateway, Sonic lands on a rock, and Shadow notices that there is another rock flying towards him. Shadow flies up and grabs Sonic.

"Watch out!" he warned.

Shadow lands Sonic safely onto another rock.

"Phew! Thanks, buddy!" Sonic grinned, nudging Shadow.

"Don't get used to it." Shadow deadpanned.

"I wouldn't dream of it." Sonic agreed.

They make it to the Gateway leading to The Grim.

"We're here. The Grim." Sonic announced.

"I can't pass through Gateways." Shadow reminded.

Sonic looks up and notices there's a small gap in the Gateway and points it.

"There's always another way!"

Sonic makes his way for the gap and Shadow follows after him.

"Whoa-ho-ho!"

They both make it into the Grim safely.

"Whoa. So that's what he's doing with all the Energy." Sonic said, looking at Nine's lair.

Sonic and Shadow walk towards Nine's home, until Nine emerges from the platform at the top of his home. He looks down at them both.

"That's far enough." he warned them.

"Nine, what are you doing? We had a plan!" Sonic demanded.

"That was your plan. It was never mine." Nine corrected him.

"So it was always about power." Shadow confirmed, making Sonic turn to him.

"No, that's not--"

Nine cuts him off to show that Shadow is right.

"Exactly. With the Paradox Prism, I'll be able to turn this world into a paradise... my paradise!"

Nine extracts energy from the Paradox Prism and uses it to form a dome.

"Let's destroy this traitor." Shadow glared.

"Wait. Maybe I can reason with him." Sonic stopped him.

"Reason with him?" Shadow questioned.

"Just let me try. If that doesn't work--" Sonic started.

"Then he's mine." Shadow declared.

"No. He's ours."

Sonic walks off and begins to confront Nine.

"This isn't you, Nine. We're friends. We can still figure out how to bring back Green Hill and stabilize the Shatterspaces. Together!"

"You were only using me to get what you wanted!" Nine argued.

"That's not true." Sonic shook his head.

Nine then slightly smiles.

"Sorry, old friend! You've been replaced."

Nine walks off and then Alpha Grim Sonic appears, looking at both Sonic and Shadow.

"Whoa. Who, or what, is that?" Sonic asked in shock.

"It's you." Shadow stated.

"Yeah, but if you squint and tilt your head to the side, it's also kind of you." Sonic said, making Shadow deadpan.

"Whatever it is, it's in our way."

"Not for long." Sonic declared.

The robot jumps off the platform and goes for the two hedgehogs down below. He runs up to them and flings them up into the air. The robot stops. Soon, Sonic and Shadow manage to make a safe landing.

"Again? I already beat one of these things. In New Yoke, remember?" Sonic said, remembering what happened back in New Yoke City.

Sonic looks up to Nine.

"I saved you from the one in New Yoke. This time, you're on your own!" Nine explained.

Sonic immediately gets a sad look on his face. Suddenly, his ear perks up when Shadow steps up.

"He's not on his own."

Sonic looks at Shadow and smiles. They both get into position, ready to fight Alpha Grim Sonic.

"We're all on our own." Nine declared.

Sonic and Shadow look at each other and give each other a nod of approval. They head straight for Alpha Grim Sonic and fight it.

Meanwhile, inside Nine's lair, while Gwen feels more sad than before, she hears something and looks outside of the lair and sees Sonic and Shadow came to the rescue but also frightened to see them fighting against Alpha Grim that looks like Sonic. She needs to do something, but she feels something is not right within her, it's like she's about to turn slowly into the next Paradox Prism, and she's slowly getting weak bit by bit. She looks down to see her finger slightly glowing like a shard.

Back to Sonic and Shadow as they defeated Alpha Grim Sonic.

"It's over, Nine!" Sonic said, looking up.

Nine points to himself.

"I'll decide when it's over."

Nine raises his arms in the air and closes his eyes. Four other robots emerge from Nine's home, and they all head down to the ground. Grim Birdie squawks and flies down, while Grim Rouge also makes her entrance by flying down too. Grim Amy appears, performing many techniques with her hammer and Grim Knuckles jumps down, standing in front of the other three robots. They all stand together, looking at Sonic and Shadow.

"Rouge? Knux? Amy? What have you done to my friends?!" Sonic asked.

"I can't believe it!!" Gwen exclaimed, looking down with a shocked expression on her face.

"Oh, they're my friends now. Take them." Nine ordered.

Both Sonic and Shadow and the robots charge for each other. As the Grims attack Sonic and Shadow, Gwen needs to save them before it's too late because she figured that since Nine took the Shard out of her, her body is slowly turning as the glow on her finger slowly turns into a shard, which she immediately shook her head and clenched her fingers into a fist.

"Oh no, my body! I have to save my brother and my friend before I disappear....again!" Gwen said with confidence and courage as she jumped down to the rescue.

Next, Grim Birdie also charges for Sonic, and he jumps on top of the bird. He laughs and waves to it from above as it looks around, wondering where Sonic has gone. Sonic jumps off the robot bird and runs off, while Grim Amy jumps onto it and it flies towards Sonic. But Gwen saved her brother by using little of her powers by using water whip to whack it away.

"Sis? Sis!" Sonic looks relieved to see her again.

"Sonic! Bro!" Gwen smiled.

The hedgehogs siblings are reunited and hug each other so tightly and tighter than before. After they hugged, Sonic looked down and noticed her finger is glowing. He squinted at it and his eyes widened in recognition to see it look like... a Shard.

"Sis, what happened to your body?!" Sonic said, freaking out a bit.

"I don't know what happened to my body. After nine took the shard out of my body, my body is still turning. Nine didn't get to fully remove it. I still can't believe Nine betrayed us." Gwen explained.

"Don't worry, sis, after we defeat the robots we'll try to reason with nine and get you back to normal, okay?"

"Okay." Gwen nodded before smiling confidently. "Let's do this."

Sonic and Gwen continue to fight. Nine looks at Gwen with worry, wondering if something happened to Gwen just like Iris as he sense something wasn't right. As Shadow continues battling Grim Rouge, she spins him around and flings him off her. She tries charging for him again, but Shadow runs off. Grim Amy goes to attack Sonic again, but he dodges her once more. She begins rapidly swinging her hammer around and Sonic stands on top of the hammer, trying to maintain his balance, but gets sent flying.

"Whoa!!"

Grim Birdie tries firing a laser at Sonic, but Gwen just saved him and takes cover on both by creating a bubble. Now, Grim Knuckles is trying to attack Sonic, and Gwen spin attacks Grim Knuckles into Grim Birdie. Shadow appears again and was also glad to see Gwen is okay.

"Behind you!" the trio hedgehogs said in unison, pointing to each other's backs.

Shadow grabs hold of Grim Rouge and stands on top of her as she flies through the air. He does his best to stay on the robot, and covers the robot's eyes so it can't see where it is going. However, the robot begins to lose control, and Shadow flies the robot towards Grim Amy, who is attacking Sonic and Gwen again. Shadow crashes Grim Rouge into Grim Amy and sends both of the robots flying. However, Alpha Grim Sonic reactivates, wipes some dust off its shoulder before it runs towards Sonic, Gwen and Shadow, but they manage to fling it away.

"Go for the Prism." Shadow said.

"And leave you alone with them?" Sonic asked with worry.

"You could be hurt." Gwen added.

"I'll be fine! Go!" Shadow ordered.

Sonic and Gwen go to get the Shards while Shadow continues to attack the robots alone. Grim Birdie fires lasers at Sonic, but Gwen manages to deactivate the robot by sending electric bolts at it as Sonic and Gwen continue to make their way for the Shards.

"So quick to rush into things when you have no idea what you're up against." Nine said.

Nine raises some parts of his home up, using his mechanical tails and aims them at Sonic. Sonic and Gwen spin-dashes up the wall of Nine's home, heading for the Shards.

"See if you can dodge this."

Nine grabs two larger parts of his home using his mechanical tails again, and aims them for Sonic. As the latter gets further up, the two parts collide with Sonic and Gwen and heads straight for the ground. Shadow notices Sonic and Gwen.

"Sonic! Gwen!"

He heads in the direction where Sonic and Gwen are. Sonic and Gwen would've crash onto the ground if Gwen didn't use her powers to save them both by creating wind and Shadow appears to protect them. Soon, Sonic and Gwen get up as they are surrounded by the robots. Nine flies down.

"Impressive, isn't it? With the power of the Prism, there's nothing I can't do." Nine grinned.

"Is this what you want, to spend the rest of your life alone with robots for friends?" Sonic asked.

"At least I can trust them." Nine said.

"Look around you! The Grim is starting to decay." Gwen tried to reason him.

"You're right, it is. But once I finish the Paradox Prism, I'll have all the power I need to fix everything."

"Wait, you haven't rebuilt the Prism yet?" Sonic questioned.

"He rebuilt it alright." Gwen confirmed.

"Yes. But it turns out there's some Prism Energy missing." Nine revealed.

Sonic is confused by what Nine means. He begins to think, while Shadow and Gwen look at Sonic. Nine looks furiously at Sonic, and Shadow and Gwen realizes what Nine is planning to do. Nine flies back up to the platform at the top of his home.

"Sonic, you have to get out of here!" Shadow warned him.

"What?" Sonic asked, looking at him.

Shadow and Gwen pushes Sonic away as Alpha Grim Sonic tries to attack Sonic.

"It's you. He's after your Energy." Shadow said to Sonic.

"First he wants my shard, next he wants your energy to complete the work." Gwen explained.

Sonic, Gwen, and Shadow run off to avoid both Alpha Grim Sonic and Grim Knuckles trying to attack them. Grim Knuckles goes to battle Shadow, but he defeats the robot. He looks behind himself and sees Sonic and Gwen being attacked by the robots. He gets serious and begins to spin-dash around Sonic and Gwen, forming a Tornado to lift them up in the air and carry them away.

"You two have to go! Now!" Shadow shouted.

"Wait! What are you doing?" Sonic asked.

"Shadow, wait! We could help you!" Gwen shouted with worry.

Nine notices what Shadow is doing.

"What? Shadow thinks he can take Sonic and Gwen away from me? Heh. Not a chance."

Nine extracts energy from the Paradox Prism using his mechanical tails.

"Ah!"

Nine creates a chasm on the ground's surface to stop Shadow from sending Sonic and Gwen away. As Sonic and Gwen are being carried in the Tornado, Shadow grabs Sonic's foot and Gwen's hand.

"This is for your own good!"

Shadow throws Sonic and Gwen into the air towards a portal in the sky leading to the Shatterverse and the Tornado disappears.

"Shadow!!" both hedgehog siblings shouted to him.

"No!" Nine shouted furiously as Sonic and Gwen entered back into the Shatterverse.

"Grim Birdie, I have a mission for you." Nine ordered.

Grim Birdie flies up to where Nine is, and he creates two clones of Grim Birdie to help give the robot extra assistance. Meanwhile, with Shadow, he continues to battle the robots. He fights off Alpha Grim Sonic, Grim Knuckles, and Grim Rouge. Suddenly, Grim Amy behinds him and holds him hostage using her hammer. Grim Knuckles punches Shadow. The Grim Birdies scream and they all head for the portal leading to the Shatterverse.

"Now to deal with you." Nine said, facing Shadow.

Shadow breaks free of Grim Amy's grasp, takes her hammer and hits her with it. However, Grim Knuckles attacks Shadow again, causing him to land onto the ground. Shadow gets up and glares, getting into his fighting stance.

"Is that all you've got?"

Alpha Grim Sonic charges straight for Shadow and punches him, sending him flying into the chasm that Nine created to try and prevent Shadow from letting Sonic and Gwen get away. Alpha Grim Sonic, Grim Amy, Grim Knuckles, and Grim Rouge all look down into the chasm.
