19 - Time to Talk Things Out

"What the hell Dean!?" Gabriel snapped, a hand pressed against the cheek that was definitely going to bruise. He backed away from Dean who had his fists clenched and a look of fury in his eyes.

"You knew!" Dean yelled. "You all knew Cas was Angel and you all..." He broke off, breathing heavily. "You made me kiss him on stage!"

"He deserved it," Gabriel growled.

"What did Cas ever do to you?!"

"He said I was just trying to get into Sam's pants, he knows it's more than that!"

Dean scoffed. "I knew you were petty but getting revenge like this over something so small?"

"Oh come on Deano, I helped you, you weren't going to figure it out on your own," Gabe snapped, rolling his eyes.

"Cas should've been the one to tell me anyway!" Dean snapped. "He was going to tell me, and you ruined it!"

"Does it look like I care?!" Gabe yelled. "I am so sick of having to deal with the problems of all of you. You and Cas, Michael and Luci, none of you sort your own shit out and I get stuck in the middle!"

"Well if you were a good brother, then maybe you'd actually be helping them, instead of ruining them," Dean growled, and Gabriel just gaped at him furiously. His fists were clenching and unclenching as if he was trying to hold himself back.

"Fuck it," he muttered, and launched himself at Dean.

~~

It was Sam who found them later, both of them out of breath and on opposite sides of the room, sitting and leaning against a wall. Both of them were bruised and a little bloody, and objects were strewn across the floor.

"What the fuck?" Sam said, looking between the two of them. "What happened here?"

"He said some insulting things Samantha," Gabriel muttered. Dean just scoffed.

"You know it's true," he said.

"You know what, I don't even care," Sam said. "You're both children. Go and sort out your problems that you have with other people instead of taking it out on each other. For god's sake Dean, talk to Cas."

"Wait...you knew Sammy?" Dean looked up at Sam with such a look of betrayal that it made his heart hurt.

"We were all waiting for Cas to tell you, it wouldn't have been fair to butt in," Sam said, looking down. "Gabriel was childish to do that on stage." Dean smirked a bit. "And Dean you're being a moron. I heard from Cas what you said to him. You're a moron." Dean looked away guiltily, biting his lip. "And Gabriel..." Sam sighed, moving over to Gabe who just looked up at him with wide, regretful eyes. Sam sat beside Gabriel and then glared at Dean. Dean took the cue and stood up, walking shakily out of the room.

As the door closed behind Dean, Sam and Gabe were left in silence, the only sound being Gabriel's still laboured breathing. They stayed like that for a few minutes, as Gabriel's breathing slowly evened out.

"Gabe..." Sam said softly, sadly. "What's wrong? Like what's actually wrong? You wouldn't have lashed out like that unless there was more going on..."

Gabriel took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I know Cassie didn't mean it...he was just mad. But they always take it out on me Sammy...If Michael and Luci get into a fight, I'm stuck in the middle, if I try to help Cas out he lashes out. I know I don't always have the best way of helping them, but they're my brothers and I care about them, and they only ever hurt me in return..." Gabriel closed his eyes. "I'm tired Sammy. I'm just tired."

"They'll come around eventually," Sam said, putting an arm around Gabe's shoulders and pulling him close to his side. "They know you care and that you want to help, but I think they just need some time." Gabe just leaned closer against his side. "Come on, let's get you back to the hotel, you need to get some rest."

"Okay," Gabe muttered, and let Sam help him up and walk him out of the room with his arm still set around his shoulders.

~~

Dean raised his hand to knock on the hotel door, his fist hovering in the air for a few seconds before he closed his eyes and forced himself to knock twice. He held his breath as he waited for a reply.

"Who is it?" Cas called out.

"It's Dean," Dean said quietly. "Cas, please let me in." There was no reply. "Cas...please."

There was no reply and Dean was about to give up and walk away when the door opened, and a very disheveled Castiel poked his head out, glaring at Dean.

"No," Cas said as Dean opened his mouth to talk. "I don't want to talk to you Dean. Maybe I will tomorrow, but not now." He shut the door in Dean's face, leaving Dean staring at where Cas had been with wide eyes.

Dejected, Dean walked away back to his own hotel room.

~~

Michael took a deep breath, standing in front of his hotel door just as Dean had been doing at Cas's. He raised his hand to knock before shaking his head, this was his own room, he shouldn't be knocking. He opened the door and walked in, letting the door fall shut behind him as his eyes were immediately drawn to Luci sitting on a bed.

Luci didn't look much better than Michael. He looked exhausted, as though all his previous anger had just seeped out and left an empty shell. He looked up at Michael and tried to give a scowl, but it held none of its previous menace.

"Luce," Michael said quietly. "We need to talk."

"Like hell we do," Luci muttered, giving a half hearted glare.

"Luci please," Michael said, moving to sit on the other bed, facing Luci. Luci didn't move, just continued facing the wall instead of facing Michael. "Look...Luci I'm sorry."

"What are you sorry for?" Luci muttered. "You have nothing to be sorry for. I'm the one who ruined this." Michael blinked, taken aback at Luci's sudden dejectedness. "Michael...Mikey...I'm sorry."

"Luce—"

"No let me talk," Luci cut Michael off. "You're right. I never gave you a choice in everything. I never checked to see if this was what you really wanted to do your whole life. I always pushed other people away from you because I wanted you to myself."

"Luce..." Michael whispered, watching Luci carefully. Luci was looking down with a frustrated expression, his hands clenching the blankets.

"It's just...it was supposed to be us against the world Mikey," Luci said. "You were always going to be by my side, and I thought...I thought it'd always be like that. I never stopped to think that you didn't want that too." Luci took a deep breath. "I'm sorry I was selfish. I'm sorry I couldn't be the type of person you would want to spend the rest of your life with." He stood up, making his way towards the door.

"Luci wait," Michael said, leaping up and grabbing Luci's hand, pulling him back. "Do you realize that the whole reason I'm mad is because you always seemed too blind to realize that I liked you a little bit too much?"

"I...what?" Luci's eyes widened a bit, filled with confusion.

"Luce, I was mad because you seemed to want to be a bigger part of my life than just a friend but you only ever treated me like a friend. I was mad because I thought you were just acting like a controlling friend instead of...instead of..." Michael trailed off, looking at Luci with almost pleading eyes.

"Are you saying..." Luci started. "Mikey. Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

"Luci," Michael said, stepping a little closer to Luci, still holding his hand from when he had reached out to pull him back. "I really love you, you know that right?" Luci didn't say anything, just stared back at Michael with increasingly hopeful eyes. "Why would I want anyone else when I have you?"

"I-I..." Luci stammered a bit, as Michael raised a hand to gently cup Luci's face. When it became evident that Luci wasn't going to say anything, Michael closed the distance between them, pressing his lips softly against Luci's. That was all it was, a soft touch, but Luci pressed into it, stepping closer to Michael and resting a hand on his hip.

"Mikey," Luci said quietly as the kiss broke off. "I love you too. Why did you wait so long to say anything?"

"You weren't exactly making it easy," Michael said, resting his forehead against Luci's.

"I already said I was sorry," Luci muttered, and Michael just smiled softly at him. "No more sleeping around okay?"

"Definitely not," Michael said. "You keep being possessive all you want though." Luci smirked slightly, before closing the distance between them again, with a kiss that was a bit more heated than the last one.

And quietly in the background the army of squiggles cheered.

~~

It's gotten to the point where I don't know why I bother saying that I'm back if I'm just going to disappear for two months again. I'm really sorry guys. I'm trying, I really am.

In other news, I've started the application process for University, so that's fun. Ugh Life.

Anyway. I'm going to have to wrap up this story soon, because there's just too much unfinished things in my life at once, and I need to sort some things out before I can focus on new things. Life's kinda hitting me hard...not in like a bad way, but more like a I really need to start growing up soon way.

Anywayyyy, I really do hope the next update comes a bit sooner than this one did.
