Zora stayed right where she was, right next to Kiba while more explosions went off. She could hear soldiers shooting, and shouts. But she didn't move, she stayed knelt over Kiba. Her curly black hair falling over his face like a curtain. 

 A flying chunk of rock from an explosion went flying through the air and slammed into Zora's back. She let out a cry of pain, throwing herself on top of Kiba, trying to stay safe, trying to keep him safe as well.

 When the explosions stopped, Zora still didn't move, she stayed on top of Kiba's body, sobbing violently. 

  She felt an arm wrap around her and she jerked back in shock.

 Slowly, Kiba's eyes opened, the same harsh yellow as always. "Princess, why are you crying?"

  "Kiba! Your alive!" 

 "Of course. I'll always be here Princess."

Zora let out a shaky laugh, eyeing what a sorry state Kiba was still in. Blood ran down one side of his face, his black hair sticky with it. His armor was streaked with dust and blood. But he was alive, he was okay, Kiba was still here with her.

  Relief cascaded through her, and with it came the realization that if Kiba had died, a part of Zora would have gone with him. 

 So she did something incredibly impulsive, Zora grabbed the front of Kiba's armor, and she kissed him. She could feel Kiba's strong arms wrapping around her, kissing her back. Like everything else he did, Kiba's soft kiss was steady and calm. For a moment, the whole world faded away.
