Chapter 30

Shiro had been chained in this small cell for hours, and he was beginning to grow stiff from the cramped position. A horrible apprehension had crept over him, he'd been here before. And last time he'd lost an arm.

When his cell was finally lit, he found himself staring up at one of the Druids. Behind Haggar stood Princess Zora, her yellow eyes wide with shock. Her fists were clenched, and her mouth was set in a hard line. She looked like she was going to attack Haggar. No Shiro thought, Don't do it Princess. Don't risk the mission. Not for me. I'm not worth it.

Shiro made desperate eye contact with Kiba, the scarred galra who stood behind Zora, hoping he would understand.

Kiba gave a nearly imperceptable nod, and stepped closer to Zora.

When Zora spoke, her voice was steely calm, "Haggar, please explain."

"Of course Child. The voltron Paladins attacked a nearby outpost, and we were able to capture the Black Paladin. Though really, it's a matter of reclaiming something that belonged to us in the first place."

Zora lifted her chin, "The unauthorized transport of any prisoners onto my ship should have been cleared with me before, not after, the prisoner was onboard."

 "Apologies Princess."

"What do you plan to do with him?"

"We wish to run a few more tests, then he can be disposed of. Without the Black Paladin, the others will be unable to form Voltron."

Shiro stared down at the floor, concentrating on keeping calm. He heard Zora's voice, this time shaking slightly, "Very good. Is that all?"

 "Yes Princess."

The door slammed shut and Shiro was left in complete darkness again. He hoped Zora didn't do something impulsive to try and free him. It wasn't worth putting their mission at risk, and he wasn't worth the best spy the Blade of Marmora had.
