Chapter 3

Doing her best to keep her hands from shaking, Zora knocked twice on the door to the lab. The door opened slowly, thick fog pouring out of the room.

 "Enter."

"I've come to see Haggar. It's Princess Zora."

"Of course my dear, come on in," Haggar's rough voice echoed around. "Leave that stupid boy outside though."

Zora glanced at Kiba, "Wait here."

"Princess, I don't think your father would want you to be in there alone-"

"I said wait here."

"Yes Princess."

Walking into the dimly lit lab, Zora blinked several times, trying to adjust her eyes to the light. Several druids in white masks slunk back into the shadows as Zora entered. Zora pulled back her hood, revealing her face.

"I sense something greatly troubles your mind, Young Princess," Haggar stepped forward, pulling her hood back, the yellow lines on her face glowing.

"Haggar, I wish to speak with you alone. It is a matter of great personal importance." Zora trusted Haggar, who'd been her teacher for years, but she didn't trust the other Druids.

Haggar gestured for Zora to follow her and retreated farther back into the lab. Several glass tubes, as tall as Zora held disfigured corpses, experiments. Haggar stopped once they were far enough into the lab, and sat down on a metal chair, motioning for Zora to sit.

"Now my dear. Tell me what troubles you."

"Haggar, I wish to do something terrible. Treasonous. I want to leave the base, I want to see my father's empire. But as a normal person, not a Galran Princess. I want to learn about Voltron, and help my father defeat it if I can. Will you help me?"

"So you wish to see the empire, to judge for yourself if it's something worth ruling. I will help you, but you must promise me something."

Haggar grabbed Zora's hand, holding them in front of her, "I will give you a spell so you can travel unseen, and I will even cast the spell on one companion as well. But first you must promise me something."

"Anything."

"If you encounter Voltron, use my spell to gain the trust of the Paladins. You may be able to, I've seen how you can manipulate the Galran soldiers to get what you want."

"I will try."

"I know child, and one day, you will be a mighty ruler. I have seen your future, I know."

Haggar reached into a black case and pulled out two chains, each with a clear gem on the end. They were smaller, probably would fit like collars. "Princess, I need only a drop of your blood."

Zora hated blood, and she didn't enjoy pain. But she wanted to see the empire, and it was worth a little pain. Shoving down her fear, telling herself no Galra princess was going to be scared of a knife, Zora held out her hand.

Quick as a whip, Haggard sliced the blade down Zora's palm. There was a searing pain, not too bad, but it still hurt. Drops of Zora's blood fell onto the crystal, and it changed color, from white to deep red.

"When you put this on, you will appear in whatever form is the most useful. Now, I suspect that the other spell is for your oafish guard, Kiba."

"Yes Ma'am."

"He's an idiot, but still a good choice. He's more loyal to you than to your father."

"What? Every soldier is loyal to the Emperor, Kiba's loyalty to me is only born from his loyalty to my father."

"Child, I have seen inside Kiba's mind. In the ways of mental magic, his mind is an open book. He cares for you deeply, he'll keep you safe, even at the cost of his life. He would defy the emperor if you asked him to, he is a good choice on this journey. Call him inside."

Zora raises her voice slightly, "Kiba!"

It didn't even take fifteen seconds for Kiba to arrive, "Yes Princess."

"Haggar needs some of your blood."

Kiba glanced at Zora, as though questioning, then without further hesitation, sliced his palm. His blood stained the second crystal.

As they stood to leave, Haggar grabbed Zora's arm. "Take care Princess. The Galra Empire still needs it's heir."
