Hakuna Matata
Naruto walked up the hill and rolled his eyes when he finally found Shikamaru and Choji laying on the grass. "I've been looking all over for you guys," he said as he stopped next to the boys.
"Hey Naruto," Choji said with a big smile on his face. He sat up and glanced over at Shikamaru before looking back at Naruto. "What's wrong?"
"You guys promised to help me train after I got back from my mission," Naruto said crossing his arms over his chest and a pout on his face.
"You need to relax more," Shikamaru said not even opening his eyes.
Naruto sighed. "You've been relaxing for the last couple days 'cause your sensei is on that mission for three days."
Shikamaru finally opened his eyes and sat up and looked up at Naruto lazily. "Which is why I said you need to relax more. You just got back from a mission. Take some time to relax a little."
"Yeah, you'll work yourself to death," Choji said as he pulled a bag of chips out of nowhere.
"You guys don't have a care in the world, do you?" Naruto asked.
"Hakuna matata," Shikamaru said laying back down in the grass, putting his hands behind his head to act like a pillow.
"What?" Naruto asked raising an eyebrow and lowering his arms.
"Hakuna matata," Choji said.
"What's that?" Naruto asked.
"It's a wonder phrase," Shikamaru said, still not opening his eyes.
"Yeah, it ain't no passing craze!" Choji exclaimed with a huge smile.
Naruto just shook his head. "What does that even mean?"
Shikamaru sighed and sat up looking at Naruto. "It means no worries, for the rest of your days."
"It's our problem-free philosophy," Choji added.
"Hakuna matata," Shikamaru said.
"Hakuna matata?" Naruto asked again to make sure he said it right.
"Yeah, It's our motto," Choji said.
"What's a motto?" Naruto asked.
Shikamaru gave him a sly smile. "Nothing. What's a-motto with you?"
Choji laughed. "You know, these two words will solve all your problems."
"Really?" Naruto asked doubtfully.
Shikamaru patted the ground in front of him, and Naruto took his offer and sat down. "Yeah, take Choji for example. He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal. He could clear the village after every meal."
"I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned. And it hurt, that my friends never stood downwind. And oh the shame," Choji said dramaticly.
"He was ashamed," Shikamaru said sadly.
"Thought of changin' my name!" Choji closed his eyes and put the back of his hand on his forehead.
"What's in a name?" Shikamaru said placing a hand on Choji's shoulder.
"And I got downhearted," Choji said as he brought both hands down to his chest over his heart.
"How did ya feel?" Shikamaru asked.
"Everytime that I...." Choji started, but Shikamaru covered Choji's mouth.
"Hey, Choji, not in front of the kid," Shikamaru said.
"Oh, sorry," Choji said after Shikamaru took his hand away.
"Hey, I'm not a kid," Naruto said aggravated.
Shikamaru and Choji just smiled.
"Hakuna Matata!" Shikamaru and Choji both sang out. "What a wonderful phrase. Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze."
"It means no worries, for the rest of your days!" Naruto sang out.
"Yeah, sing it," Choji cried out.
"It's our problem-free," the three sang, Naruto getting between Shikamaru and Choji and put his arms over both their shoulders, "philosophy. Hakuna Matata."
The three laughed and laid back in the grass. "So, what you think, Naruto?" Choji asked. "You gonna join us in relaxing today."
"Yeah," Naruto said as he put his hands behind his head to use as a pillow, "I think I'll try and relax a little. I am tired after my mission."
"Good," Shikamaru said as he too put his hands behind his head and closed his eyes.
They all laid there for a few minutes in the silence. Naruto looked back and forth between Shikamaru and Choji, then looked up at the sky. He closed his eyes, thinking of the words Shikamaru and Choji said, when suddenly a dancing meerkat and warthog appeared in his head. He opened his eyes and scrunched up his face in confusion. "Guys, why did I suddenly see a dancing meerkat and warthog dancing in my head when I was thinking of those words you said?" he asked.
Shikamaru and Choji both smiled, but stayed silent.
Naruto looked at Shikamaru then Choji. "Hey, what's so funny?" He sat up and continued to look at the two smirking boys. "Hey!"
"Calm down, Naruto," Shikamaru said as he opened his eyes and sat up, Choji sitting up too.
"Don't you remember that kid's movie we watched when we were younger," Shikamaru asked.
"No," Naruto said. "What movie?"
"The Lion King," Choji said. "Timon and Pumbaa sang that song."
Naruto thought about it for a second then hit his fist in his open hand. "Oh, yeah."
"Choji found it in his house the other day and we watched it again," Shikamaru said.
"Yeah, then we remembered that we wanted to be like Timon and Pumbaa," Choji said.
"Did you really think Choji kept people away because he smelled bad," Shikamaru asked.
Naruto looked down. "I always wondered why people didn't hang around Choji. I thought that really was the reason why," he said sheepishly.
"Idiot," Shikamaru said as he shook his head.
"Hey, I didn't smell," Choji said a bit angrily at Naruto.
"Sorry," Naruto said looking up at the chubby boy while rubbing the back of his head.
"Anyway," Shikamaru said as he stood up, brushing the loose grass off his pants. "You ruined the mood."
Choji and Naruto stood up too. "So, what now?" Naruto asked.
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean? I thought you'd want to train now that you know we were copying cartoon characters."
"Well, I do feel a little bit exhausted now that I've laid there for a bit, so I think I will just relax today," Naruto said. "You guys seem to know what you're doing, so I'll follow your lead."
"Hey, how 'bout the watering hole?" Choji asked.
"Watering hole?" Naruto asked.
"We found a small pond in the forest the other day," Shikamaru answered.
"Yeah! Let's go swimming!" Naruto said excitedly. "We should get Kiba and the others to go with us."
"Ok," Choji said with a smile.
After Shikamaru nodded his agreement, the three boys went off to find their friends and spent a leisurely day at the pond in the forest.
