Shadow was lying in the living room, chewing on his rubber bone while Amy was in the kitchen, backing a cake for when Tails will be here later that day. Sonic was still on the couch, watching TV. The blue blur glanced at Shadow now and then, to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.

A while later Amy joined Sonic on the couch and the red and black pup ran over to the couch. He jumped up but his back paws slipped and the pup yelped as he was about to fall down. Luckily for him, Amy caught him. "Careful Shadow, we don't want you to hurt yourself." Amy said before she placed him on her lap. "I would have never thought that Shads would be clumsy." Sonic giggled but got a slight glare from Amy. "Sorry." Sonic apologized quickly and quit giggling, avoiding his girlfriend's eyes. For his relief the doorbell rang and Sonic jumped to his feet. "I'll open the door." Sonic quickly said before he speed to the front door.

Sonic reached the door in a millisecond and opened it. "Hey little buddy. Come in." Sonic welcomed Tails and opened the door more for Tails to come in. "Hey Sonic. Where's Shadow?" Tails greeted/asked. "Straight to business like always. This way." Sonic laughed and lead the two tailed fox to the living room.

"Hey Amy guess who's here." Sonic said, standing in front of his little 'brother', for Amy not to see him yet. "Tails. Cause I doubt that you have a fox tail, two to be exact." Amy replied factly, pointing at Sonic's left. "Huh .... oh! Tails, your tails gave me away." Sonic said, looking to his left. "Now where's Shadow?" Tails asked again, stepping up beside Sonic, ignoring his best friends complain. "Right her- hey! Where did he go?" Amy asked as she looked where Shadow has last been. "You lost him?" Sonic yelled/asked. "Stop shouting and help me find him. He was here a second ago, that means he can't be too far." Amy replied and was already searching for the red and black wolf pup. Sonic and Tails were now also searching for Shadow.

"Sonic?" Tails asked a bit concerned. "What is it little bro." Sonic replied, still searching for Shadow. "Do you think Shadow ran off because he is scarred of me?" Tails questioned a bit sad. "Maybe, but I'm sure he'll like you as soon as you two get to meet each other." Sonic replied with a confident look on his face and Tails smiled at his best friend.

In the meantime, Amy was searching near the couch as she caught a movement in the corner of her eye. After nearer inspection she could see something black with a red tip coming from underneath the blanket on the couch. She raised the blanket and was met with red, fearful eyes. One ear of the black pup was bent to the side, the other ear was raised as he paying attention to the pink hedgehog. "Guys, I found him." Amy said, getting the boys attention immediately. As the fox and hedgehog approached the couch, Shadow backed off, pressing his back in the corner of the couch as he watched the yellow fox coming closer.

"Awww, don't be afraid Shadow. Tails isn't going to hurt you." Amy reassured Shadow and picked up the trembling pup. "She's right Shads. He's just going to examine you." Sonic said, placing a hand on his little 'brother's' shoulder. Shadow now looked up, a bit curious about the young fox-boy. Amy placed Shadow on the floor but he immediately hid behind Amy's leg, watching Tails' every move.

"He's definitely shier than the Shadow we know." Tails commented and knelt down. "Come here, Shadow. I'm not going to hurt you." the yellow fox said, reaching out to let the black and red pup sniff his hand. Shadow slowly made his way to the outstretched hand and sniffed it carefully. After a minute Shadow realized that his caretakers were right, and Tails wasn't dangerous. Tails carefully petted the young pup, who leaned into his hand as Tails started stroking him behind his ears. Shadow started purring and Sonic had to smile at his little 'brother' and Shadow.

"I think he trusts you now, Tails." Amy said, also smiling at the cute scene. "Great, then you can start working and see if you can turn Shadow back. Do you need anything to examine Shadow?" Sonic asked. "No. I've got everything I need." Tails informed and placed Shadow on the coffee table. The young wolf pup had an confused look on his face. He didn't understand why he was placed on the table and what they were talking about.

"I built this little device before I came here. It will scan Shadow's body and I'll be able to see with what he had been shot with." Tails explained as he showed them a small device. It looks similar to a cell phone. The device had a display on the upper side and a small sensor on the underside. "So you'll just scan him and then you know if you can turn him back or not?" Amy asked, overthinking everything again. "That's right." Tails replied. "Sounds simple enough. Then let's get started." Sonic said with a big smile on his face.

Shadow in the meantime was watching the device in Tails hand. After Tails was explaining everything to Sonic and Amy, he held it above Shadow and turned it on. The device started beeping and Shadow panicked. "Hey Shadster, everything's okay. This thing isn't anything to be scared about." Sonic reassured the young pup, who was looking at Sonic helplessly. "And all done." Tails interrupted, turning the device off and typing something on the display. "And do you have an answer?" Amy asked impatiently. "Not yet, it will take a minute to process the data." Tails replied and Amy nodded, taking the yet again trembling wolf pup in her arms to calm him down.

"And done." Tails said. "And? Can we get Shadow back to normal?" Sonic asked.
