Monday Mornings
"What's the time?" Asked Ladybug yawning, slumping herself next to Chat Noir.
"3am," he replied tiredly.
"Is Hawkmoth even human, I mean in 2 days he has akumatized 6 people."
"I-I don't know."
"Ugh I have school today and I still have homework."
"Guess we should get going then M'lady."
"You okay kitty there hasn't been a single pun tonight."
"Yeah just stuff at home."
"Okay, goodnight Kitty."
"Goodnight Buggaboo."
Ladybug couldn't even muster up the strength to tell him off, she lazily swung over to her house to get at least a few hours sleep.
Alya and Nino quietly talked as they took their seats, Nino had swapped with Marinette so she could end up sitting with Adrien, it was all part of Alya's plan. Marinette was great at history and they all knew that it wasn't Adrien's strong point so maybe Marinette could muster up some courage and help him out. The two teens waited patiently for their BFFs to show but they were still not present.
"I wonder where they are, I understand Marinette but Adrien's never late," Nino said keeping his eyes locked on the door.
"I have no idea," Alya replied.
30 minutes into class Marinette and Adrien walked in, they both looked extremely tired.
"Well look who finally decided to show," said Alya as Marinette pouted at her and sat down in Nino's usual spot.
"Where have you guys been?"
"Slept in," they both yawned.
Adrien couldn't even concentrate, he had just come from an early morning photo shoot that his father conveniently forgot to add in his schedule, after only having 2 hours of sleep he could barely keep his eyes open, Marinette on the other hand had stayed up pretty much the rest of the night completing her last minute homework.
By lunchtime Alya and Nino were left with a history assignment, in which half of their group were practically asleep on their desks.
"Damn, wonder what they were doing all night."
"Maybe they were together!"
"Alya don't jump to conclusions you know how strict Adrien's father is."
"Fine, but I've got an idea."
"Come help me Nino."
Alya and Nino moved both the teens into a comfortable position on a park bench.
"There, we'll wake them up later," said Alya.
"We seriously ship them too hard."
Adrien soon awoke to the feeling of something resting on his shoulder. He was startled to find Marinette lying on top of him. He took in his surroundings, they were at the park.
Adrien prayed that no one had recognized him while sleeping or there'd be posts on social media saying #adrienagresteandhisgirlfriend and he knew Marinette didn't need all that drama.
Adrien slowly shook the girl to wake her up before they were spotted.
Marinette opened her eyes and literally jumped like a cat when it sees a cucumber.
"Oh my gosh Adrien I'm so sorry!" Marinette apologised, her face turning so red it could rival her Ladybug suit.
Alya and Nino emerged from behind a tree laughing so hard they were crying.
"And that is number 1 checked of our couple bucket list," Alya said before switching off the live video.
"You recorded that!" Adrien exclaimed trying to get hold of Alya's phone and failing miserably, even though he was taller.
"Yep, I've started a live vlog, it includes things we do each day and my ships."
"Ships?" Adrien asked confused.
Alya and Nino smirked while Marinette hid her face.
"What's that?"
"It's probably safer if you don't know dude."
"If you really have to know you can check out my vlog, the link's on my Insta."
"Alya you have officially made my life a death sentence."
"That's why their live girl the only people who see are the ones who have the right access code."
"And that is?"
"Ladynoir of course."
"That's your access code to everything, I'm going to die of embarrassment."
Adrien flopped onto his bed after another exhausting day. There was no words to even describe how it was. He may have been tired at the start but the prank his friends pulled on him was halarious, he was grateful that his friends still managed to get him to have a good time given everything that's going on in his life. He felt right at home with his friends. They brought him more love than his stupid father ever gave to him.
They were kind of like his mother split into 3 parts. Nino being the musical and chill side of her, Alya being the nosy and playful side and Marinette, well he didn't even know where to start. She was smart, funny, creative not to mention one of the kindest people he had ever met. She was a Ladybug in her own special way.
Marinette got home feeling exhausted. The prank Alya and Nino pulled was not funny at all.
"Oh Tikki, what will Adrien think of me!."
"Adrien didn't seem too fazed, if I didn't know any better I would have thought he found the prank funny."
"Not helping."
Marinette threw her face into her pillow and gave a loud groan.
"Oh Marinette," sighed Tikki and went to rest next to her.
It was 7:30 when both Marinette and Adrien arrived at school the next day. They'd both been able to get a decent 10 hours of sleep.
"Your early, class doesn't start for another hour," acknowledged Adrien.
"Just thought I'd get some distractions done, there's too many homework at home."
"You mean get homework done cause there are too many distractions at home."
"Yeah that's what I said, hold on what a-are you doing here?"
"Need to study history."
"Well I can help you."
"You'd do that, I'm so stuck on the Spanish conquest stuff." (A/N me too Adrien)
As the teens studied Adrien couldn't help but feel at peace with Marinette, she was so calm and helpful. He was that tiny bit jealous that she seemed at ease with everyone else but he was grateful whenever she did talk to him.
All of a sudden Chloe walked in and looked at the two, Adrien could tell this wasn't going to go well. Chloe's rivalry with Marinette had drawn back so many years, he could always remember as a kid Chloe would come to him for comfort when this so called Marinette bullied her, but after meeting Marinette in person he was quite sure it was the other way round. He found it childish and stupid.
"Adrikins what are you doing with Dupain-Cheng," Chloe said in her shrill annoying voice. And that nickname god how Adrien hated it.
"Studying for the history project."
"Studying is for losers why don't you come with me."
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"I mean I do not want to go with you I am going to study with Marinette."
"Ugh losers," Chloe replied. She would never bad mouth Marinette in front of Adrien.
Adrien went to go sit back down next to the girl only to find that she has tidied up her stuff and was exiting the room in a hurry.
"Marinette Wait!"
"That Chloe girl really has it in for your sweetheart," said Plagg.
"She's not my sweetheart Plagg."
"Could've fooled me."
"She just a friend, a really good friend."
"Keep telling yourself that kiddo and it might come true, ew I'm encouraging human reproduction just forget I said anything."
"What are you even doing out? Hide before anyone sees you." Adrien knew full well that his Kwami could easily hide he just wanted him to stop talking especially after the Kwami had etched the thought of human reproduction in his mind.
"Marinette, are you okay?" Asked Tikki.
"Yeah just annoyed, she acts like a 5 year old." Marinette hissed.
"Why did you run off?"
"Cause class starts in 5 minutes."
"Shouldn't you have waited for Adrien," said Tikki.
"Shoot," Marinette said. She had completely forgotten Adrien was there, he never studied with her so it was only natural that she'd forget his presence. Right?
All of a sudden Tikki flew into her purse just as Alya approached.
"Girl What happened?!" Alya exclaimed when she saw Marinette's annoyed expression.
"Chloe happened,"
"What did the witch say this time?"
"Nothing really, just her being there is enough to annoy the crap out of me."
"Just ignore her she just wants to ruin your confidence around Adrien, come on we've got science." Alya said.
"Ugh I'm so sick of Lila, she makes Chloe look like a puppy dog," Marinette groaned as she and Alya exited the school.
"Chloe and puppy dog do not go in the same sentence," Alya replied laughing. "And Lila's not that bad."
"Speak of the devils," Marinette sighed as she and Alya saw both the blonde and the brunette hanging off Adrien, while a very cross Nathalie tried to explain to the girls that they were on a tight schedule.
"Bye bye Adrikins," Chloe said in her shrill annoying voice. (A/N no hate on the voice actor)
"Goodbye Adrien!"
"Uh bye Chloe, Lila."
As Marinette observed the scene she noticed that Adrien was shrugging them off a little more agreste-sively than usual. Come to think of it he'd been acting strange all day. He never studied with her even if it was for a history exam, he had also been wearing his photo shoot smile. Not saying that it was a bad smile but it just didn't suit him.
Marinette sighed, she was probably overthinking everything and starting to incorporate her feelings into her theory. Along with clumsiness, overthinking was another annoying trait she had.
"Gees Chloe has got to get a life or she's going to be screwed in her daddy's little shadow," Alya said before walking over to her ride.
"See you tomorrow Alya!"
"Bye Marinette."
Adrien sat in the car and started looking out his window. When did life get so complicated he thought. Adrien ignored Nathalie as she read out his schedule he didn't want to listen to her, his father or anyone.
He reflected on his day, at least he didn't feel too alone Marinette also had a bit of a rough day. They had become quite good friends in the past 2 years, maybe he might go see her later. 'Oh wait' he thought, not allowed to go cause of a stupid schedule.
Adrien entered his room and went straight over to his 'special corner'. It was where his Mum and him always hung out to talk and play. Today was his mother's birthday and not even his father nor Nathalie even acknowledged it.
Plagg flew over to the boy and hugged him. Plagg could be annoying but he knew how to comfort his owners on a bad day, it was something he'd learnt from Tikki.
"Thanks Plagg," Adrien mumbled placing his hand on the Kwami and stroked him softly. Plagg then wiggled out of Adrien's grip and took out a box from underneath his couch.
The little Kwami wobbled slightly as he tried to withstand the weight.
"Plagg what's this?"
"Uh I thought you might want a cake for your mum's birthday."
"Wait but how!"
"Long story."
"You didn't steal it did you!?"
"Nope, 'just a friend' helped me out."
"Thank you so much Plagg!" Adrien thanked, tears in his eyes completely missing Plagg's reference. Adrien pulled the Kwami into a hug.
"Okay okay enough of the hugs I have a reputation."
Once they had finished eating Adrien went back to staring out his window. Plagg knew that he couldn't keep this up for long, Adrien needed a human friend.
"You want to go somewhere kid?"
"Yeah, I think I might go to Marinette's, she had a bad day today just like me, but I can't go as Adrien."
"Just say the words kid."
The human reproduction line is getting quite old, I know, but I just had to worm it into at least one of my stories. Props to the person who created it (I don't like taking credit for what isn't mine)
