"Give me your Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir!"
Ladybug sighed as she heard that very line that she was sick of. Hadn't Hawkmoth learnt that she and Chat wouldn't just hand it over to him. The spotted heroin waited for her partner's pickup line that usually followed after the akuma's statement but it was never spoken.

Ladybug ignored it, he must just be having an off day. Ladybug was getting annoyed and called for her lucky charm.
"A rope?" Ladybug looked around, quickly devising her plan. It was risky and she hoped Chat caught on to what she was doing before it was too late. Ladybug tied the rope into a lasso and managed to wrap it around the offender's foot.
"Chat cataclysm the floor of the Eiffel Tower!" She instructed.
"CATACLYSM!"

As the floor beneath them dissolved into dust the akuma and the superheroes fell. Ladybug wrapped her yo-yo around one of the pillars and tugged the rope. The rope slipped off the akuma's foot bringing his shoe (the akumatized object) with it. Chat quickly ran to catch the victim while Ladybug broke the shoe and caught the akuma in her yo-yo.
"MIRACULOUS LADYBUG!"

"Ugh, what happened?" The little boy asked as Chat set him down on the floor.
"You were akumatized, is everything okay?"
"A bully at my school drew on my shoes that my Sister got me, it was the last present she gave me before she died."
Ladybug gave the boy a hug, she couldn't believe there was so much hate in this world. It was something she had come to realise after taking up the job of Ladybug.

Chat held out the white sneaker to the boy, you could clearly see a scribble in black permanent marker, that was never going to get out.
"Well since we can't really fix it, and we know how much this means to you, why don't Ladybug and I sign it, that way it doesn't look as weird," Chat suggested.
The little boy's eyes lit up in agreement as Ladybug took a pen and the shoe from him.

"Pound it," said Ladybug as she watched the boy run off to his mum. When Chat's hand didn't meet hers she knew that something was definitely up. Ladybug turned to face him, his expression showed hurt and a faint line of anger.
"Kitty are you okay?"
"I'm sick of Hawkmoth taking advantage of kids, like that boy."
"Are you sure it's not more than that?"

Chat just ignored her but lightly pushed his unusually tightly clenched fist against hers. He then jumped up along the buildings, he didn't get very far when Ladybug grabbed his tail.
"Chat Noir." Her voice was stern and it sent a shiver down his spine. It had been weeks, no months since she had last used his full name. It was always just Chat or Kitty. Chat looked at her, she was definitely worried.

"What's wrong Chat Noir?"
"Nothing okay." He shouted back. It caught both of them off guard not once had Chat Noir shouted at her.
"Fine if you won't tell me, you can at least tell Marinette," Ladybug snapped back feeling quite hurt.

Chat froze at the sound of his classmates name.
"H-how do y-you..."
"She's a good friend of mine, I met and became friends with her the same day we fought evillustrator, she told me about you having a few problems at home," Ladybug quickly said.

"S-She's your friend too!"
And with that, Chat scampered off leaving a speechless Ladybug. After being stunned for a moment she quickly ran off too. Ladybug knew where he was headed so she detransformed in the park hoping to make it look like she had gone for an afternoon walk, Marinette tugged the folds of her blazer over her chest, wishing she had worn something a little warmer.

Marinette stumbled back as she walked straight into the black clad superhero. Come on Marinette, play dumb.
"Chat? What are you doing out here?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
"I went for a walk, we should go into the bakery it's cold out here, go up to the roof, I'll open the trapdoor."

As Marinette climbed down her ladder with Chat, she could feel the tension in the air, it made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. Pausing Marinette swiftly turned around to face her partner. The expression he wore was a look of hurt and anger. It made her feel uncomfortable and she didn't know how to respond.

"Your friends with Ladybug."

It was a statement, not a question. His tone caught her off guard and she wondered why it would be so bad to be friends with her superhero persona.
"Yes," Marinette replied trying to read his face but all she could see was a cold icy glare, the type Gabriel Agreste sometimes wore. "Is that a problem?"

"I thought we agreed that you wouldn't tell anyone that I had come to visit you."
"I only said that cause I didn't want my parents or Alya finding out, I thought Ladybug..."
"No she's not going to know."
"Chat, she's not going to know what? Are things bad at home? You're scaring me."
"It's Chat Noir to you Marinette and things are fine, just fine, completely fine at home," Chat snapped back.

"Chat Noir you can tell me, you can trust me," Marinette pleaded trying to stay calm.
"Obviously I can't if you go spilling the beans to Ladybug."
Chat opened her trapdoor and climbed out.

"Chat wait! W-will I see you on Friday?" Marinette asked grabbing his belt to stop him from jumping.
"No."

Adrien arrived home and released his transformation. He jumped straight onto his bed planting his face in his pillow and started sobbing. He was confused, hurt, angry and guilty. Adrien knew he probably shouldn't have taken it out on her, she didn't even know what was wrong, but the thought of Ladybug knowing if he did ever tell Marinette tore his heart into shreds.
He was embarrassed and ashamed of what Ladybug would think of him. She would hate him for sure and she surely wouldn't trust him.

There was a sharp knock on the door that drew Adrien away from his thoughts. Quickly wiping the tears from his face he muttered a quick come in.

"Your father wants you to join him at dinner," Nathalie said, her voice robotic and tone less.
"Tell him he can dine by himself, lets see what it's like to give him a taste of his own medicine," Adrien replied.
Nathalie nodded and exited the room, but she didn't make it that far when Gabriel pushed passed her and entered his sons room.

"Adrien, you will join me for dinner that's not a request."
"You would never catch me dead dining with a villain especially one who can't even care for his son in the first place."

"Adrien I'm doing it for a reason."
"And you only thought to tell me 3 months ago that you are Hawkmoth, 3 days ago the reason why, on mum's birthday too and in 3 seconds you think I can just ignore all the times you've knowingly put me in danger, to think I'd help a person like you! Forget it."

"Don't use that tone with me Adrien."
"Why is it a problem it's the same one you used with me, it's your fault mum's gone, stop trying to fix it, otherwise your going to end up losing more than just her."

Gabriel stared at his son with an expression of anger as he analysed the person whom he thought would understand the most. Adrien stared back with an equal glare, his fist clenched tight.

From experience Gabriel knew when a battle was lost, Adrien wasn't going to get away with it but he thought his son needed sometime to cool down.
"If he doesn't eat with me then he doesn't eat at all," Gabriel informed Nathalie.

After the adults left the room Plagg came out of his hiding place.
"Gees kid your father sounds like he grew up in a fairytale."
"I can't stay here."
"W-What!"

Plagg wasn't sure what had become of his owner, he used to be a bright kid and now he was just thrown into a world of doom and sorrow. His life was a mess and Plagg didn't know what to do, curse his bad luck.

"Where would you go?"
Adrien did a double take, he didn't think that part through. Nino's? No he would be asking too much of his buddy besides he couldn't even reveal what was wrong. Alya? No he wasn't that close to her plus she already has loads of people in her household.
Chloe? No she was waaayyyyy to clingy.

Adrien's mind wondered to the last person on his mental list. Marinette? No she betrayed your trust you can't go to her plus Ladybug is friends with her, he argued with himself. Adrien wondered how often Marinette talked to his lady, it couldn't be on Fridays as he was always there and never when there was an akuma cause Marinette was usually never in sight.

Adrien was feeling lost. All the people he cared about always seem to have a funny way of turning on him. His father is Hawkmoth, Nathalie is Mayura, his mother was in a coma, Marinette told Ladybug about him having problems. Ladybug. He couldn't even bare to think of what she would do if he told her the truth, Adrien didn't want to lose her as well, she meant too much to him.

Revealing that his father is Hawkmoth is probably the biggest secret he would ever tell, not only it would reveal another secret but Ladybug would definitely loose trust in him, so would Marinette, so would everyone. Adrien didn't want to think of the consequences. Who would look after him? What about his future? No one would want to be around the son of a villain.

Adrien missed his mum, she would always know what to do in a tough situation, she was always there for him. He wondered back to his father's reason. He was doing it to bring back his mother. It was a solid reason and he would usually be glad to go in and help but he didn't want to deal with the consequences. If they brought her back to life someone else would have to take Emilie's place. He also didn't want his mother coming back to life only to see a troubled son and an unstable husband.

Adrien was also still hurt that his father didn't care at all about him. All those times he had knowingly put his son in danger. Adrien believed deep down his father did still have a heart for him but it seemed that it was too twisted and dark that there was no room for him in Gabriel's life.

Adrien wanted to discard his family name. He no longer felt proud of being an Agreste. He was never a soloist, Adrien was a teammate by heart just like his mother.
