For a guy who hadn't paid attention in geography, Strange was good at finding the way when he didn't know exactly where the entrance was. He was actually looking at it logically, talking about "norths" and "easts" and other words he hadn't heard of (these directions weren't used on Asgard, they just had left and right) to try and figure out their options.

Loki was too confused to comment, but part of the plan was that they follow the directions, and since he hadn't even paid attention to that bit, who was he to question what Strange was doing?

Strange actually managed to find the entrance to the weird child-making lab (in fact, he was just going to call it the lab). Loki and the cloak both erupted into a round of silent sarcastic applause. Strange hit him jokingly, and maybe he'd only just realised at this point in their friendship would Loki not stab him for no good reason.

There was an alcove in the side of the wall, and even though there was no one around, the three of them crouched in it just in case. Because who knew what security was down on the ground?

"Well done, Strange. I thought you didn't pay attention in geography," Loki congratulated him, looking over his shoulder for anyone passing. The thought came to him that maybe they'd landed inside the grounds of the high priestess's property itself (he called it property because he wasn't sure what the atrocity they called a building was meant to be) and clearly members of the public weren't allowed there. "I hope you remember the way back to the ship."

Strange's face dropped. "Uh... we went east then south-east I think... then maybe a little more south-west, so if we backtrack we could go north-east then north-west then west and then we should get back to the ship..."

"But remember we took about 20 wrong turns," Loki added, and his acting was enough to make Strange go pale.

"Oh damn, we're gonna die, we're gonna die," Strange said, putting his hands over his face.

Loki grinned. "Strange, I remember the way. I'm messing with you."

Strange's head snapped up to look at him. Loki was surprised it didn't hurt. "You do? Oh Loki, I wish you wouldn't do that."

"Eh. You know you love it," Loki shrugged.

Strange raised an eyebrow at him. He still couldn't do the look as well as Loki. Instead of replying, he looked over his shoulder and said, "OK, how we getting in? I could do a spell..."

"No you couldn't," Loki told him, rolling his eyes subtly. Had Strange really not figured that out on his own? "No magic until you need to use it, remember?"

"Oh, right," Strange said, remembering. "Well, considering the unlikeliness that it's unlocked, we have to assume it is locked. So that weighs out options up, either we find a key, which would be difficult, or knocking the door down, but that might set off an alarm. So weighing up those options..."

Loki rolled his eyes and left Strange chattering to himself. He walked over to the door, Strange's cloak following him. Strange didn't even notice.

Well, the wizard was right about the door being locked. Loki had expected as much, and was just about to use a spell to unlock it before he remembering it would have no effect. So, conveniently forgetting his previous promise to himself to shake the habit of kicking doors off their hinges, he did just that.

Well, Strange could complain as much as he wanted, but he couldn't deny it was effective.

Besides, clearly no one was in there, because there was a window looking straight into the lab's entrance from the little alcove he and Strange had just been hiding in, and you could see from there that there was no one inside.

Plus, the thud of the door was unnoticeable because Loki remembered to use telekinesis to stop it before it made a loud clang on the floor, meaning they only had to worry about whether there would be an alarm or not, but they'd have had to worry about that even if they had a key. And there was no alarm anyway. So Strange's logic was pointless.

Speaking of Strange...

The wizard was still in the same place, talking to himself (though he thought he was still talking to Loki) about how they could get in. He hadn't noticed a thing.

Rolling his eyes not-so-subtly and crossing his arms to complete the look, Loki said, "Strange, are you coming or not?"

Strange looked over, and first his face was surprised, then it seemed resigned and he came over to join Loki and the cloak. "You kicked the door down, didn't you?"

"Yep," Loki confirmed. "Now, after you, geography student of the year."
