[Forty-three]
"My father's name?" the woman asked.
"Yes, so we can put it in the invitation," Taehyung explained.
"His name is Jeon Jung-kook," Eun-hye replied. Nearby, she heard the clattering of silverware.
It was Jimin. He had dropped his fork upon hearing that name.
"Jeon Jung-kook," Taehyung repeated, rolling the words on his tongue. "The name sounds familiar."
"Of course!" Jimin said, his voice louder than necessary. "Jeon is a pretty well-known name around these parts."
"Yes, that must be it," Taehyung nodded as he went back picking at his plate. "But why isn't he coming to the wedding?"
"Aigoo. Your papa sure has so many questions," Jimin interrupted when Eun-hye was about to speak.
"You know it'll be nice to meet our in-laws," Taehyung surmised. "Maybe if they can see what a great family we are, they'll come to love us."
"You could try, Papa," Alex suggested. "But I've met her grandma once and let's say that she's not exactly fond of me. When she saw me, it looked like she was trying to turn me into ashes!"
"Oh, come on! They can't be THAT horrible," Taehyung stated.
Jimin choked at Taehyung's words.
"Are you all right, Dad?" Alex inquired.
"I'm fine," Jimin mustered. "I just need some fresh air. Eun-hye, can you please come with me?"
The woman in question settled her napkin on the table and stood up. She cast a quick glance at her fiancée and walked with her father.
As soon as the pair was out of sight, Alex patted his father on the shoulder. "Don't worry, Papa. I'll try to convince Uncle Jeon."
