VI
After I had changed from my Ballet attire into Juniper's uniform, I took the train back to my dorm. I had two hours until my regular classes and a nap was music to my ears.
I went straight to my dorm and slumped onto the bed. I don't really remember how, but soon my phone had an alarm and my converse sat sluggishly on the floor. My heavy eyelids quickly submitted to sleep.
...
I was at a party, dancing, drinking, and enjoying myself. I noticed Rin on the other side of the room glancing at me. He smirked and turned away, beginning conversation with a tall girl with chocolate skin and neon hair. Soon after, I gulped down the contents left in the bottom of my red solo cup and left.
As I was walking, I passed a dark alley. The sounds of agitated squeaking sent chills down my spine. I stopped and slowly inched my head towards the alleyway. A tall, scrawny man with greasy black hair and baggy clothes crouched by a dumpster. His back was turned to me, and the only thing I could think about was what would happen if he noticed me. My head flooded with fear as I began to notice drops of dark red blood falling onto the cement.
I gasped awake. I allowed myself to steady my breaths before sitting up and swiping my eyes and checking my phone. I had an hour until my classes, so I fixed my hair and put my shoes back on. With a light jacket resting over my uniform, I started to explore campus.
After boarding the train and getting off at a random stop, I began to meander. I walked with the crowds of busy New Yorkers, not really paying attention. I sat down at a small Starbucks and got some coffee. I decided to try a Smoked Butterscotch Latte. I felt like I recognized the taste, but I couldn't put my finger on the exact description. It was intriguing.
"Alright, I see you. A keeper for Starbucks." I said to myself.
Honestly, I believe that coffee helps you grow. I'd never had coffee before the age of seventeen and currently 4' 11". There isn't any explanation for it, so I came up with my own. Coffee.
I tipped the waiter as best I could and left the cafe. I really need a job... The thought crossed my mind as I began walking farther down campus. I glanced at my phone, noticing that there were thirty-four minutes until my next class. Looking around, I wasn't sure where I was. But a feeling in the air pushed me forward. Continuing to walk, I felt as if my self control was slowly slipping away. I found myself in downtown campus to an array of restaurants.
To my right was a very modern-looking restaurant. It was called The Artist's Pallet. I looked at the door, noticing a small paper taped on the clean glass. I walked over and read that it was a brand new restaurant in need of employees. I couldn't help but smile to myself, snap a picture of the number, and walk to the nearest bus stop.
A little cool down after last week's chapter...😅 I hope you enjoyed!!!
