Find Us In The Clearing...
Harry still couldn't believe Ginny had gone off like that. It wasn't that it was unusual for her, she could go off on anyone at any moment, it was just that she usually did it subtler than that. Pranks, sly comments. She never fully engaged in conversation with a teacher and openly back talked to said teacher.
Now, they were almost done with class. Harry didn't get to really talk about it with Ginny, since the hallway wasn't really the place for it. News of Ginny's little rebellion was spreading across Hogwarts like wildfire, so after dinner Harry had a feeling he'd need to rush her to the Common Room to avoid questions.
"I have a better idea." Ginny said into his mind as soon as dinner was over. He knew what she was referring to, and could guess where they were going when Ginny sent him upstairs to get his Invisibility cloak.
They arrived at the clearing in no less than ten minutes, pushing brush and brambles out of their way as they tripped through the path. The grass was overgrown, weeds dominating where most of the cloves had lay. The setting sun filtered through the bushes. One tree at the edge of the clearing had fallen over, smashing some of the smaller trees.
"Merlin, we haven't been gone that long..." Ginny mumbled, bending over to look at the grass with a concerned expression. At first, Harry thought she was going crazy, staring and grass. But then he shifted and saw where some of the green was charred and broken. Ginny's eyes widened slightly and she looked around.
There was a different air to this place. It was always a place of comfort, but now it felt more protective. Everything felt alive. It was like they'd stepped into a dome, blocking them off from the rest of the world.
"Everything has grown so fast..." Harry said in amazement, running his fingers through the patches of clovers. Ginny was still staring at the charred grass.
"Harry..." Her voice was distant, and when he looked up her eyes were glassy as if she was thinking extremely hard. She swallowed.
"Gin? Are you okay?" He asked, straightening up. Ginny didn't answer, instead laid her hand on the grass. A golden light poured through her hand, and the grass was brought back to vibrant life. She pulled back.
"Last year... When I saved you..." She said, obviously still trying to put the puzzle pieces together. Then a glint was in her eye and she turned slowly, looking up at the sky. With a flick of her hand, there was a pulsing gold light. Harry followed her line of sight, his own eyes widening.
Surrounding them, a dome of gold was pulsating. Whatever Ginny did to save Harry, something else had come of it. Perhaps a pulse of magic that set up a forcefield, bringing life to the ordinary clearing.
The Bonded exchanged glances, and the gold light disappeared.
Short chapter because I haven't felt well... You rereaders might have noticed that I changed this chapter slightly! This is because of some personal reasons, and that I realized that it didn't fit correctly with the story just yet. Those of you that are just now reading this will have to wait for what I revealed before in this chapter! Lol, you're welcome 😊
