WAIT, YOU HAVE A KID?!

Narrator's POV

"Tony, I've been reading articles in "Parents Daily" and it says you don't really need all that stuff." Stephen said, looking up from a magazine to Tony, who was covered in all sorts of baby equipment.

"Nonsense Stephen." Tony said. "Better safe than sorry."

"I mean, he's just staying for a few hours." Stephen said, looking over at Peter, who was asleep in a crib in the living room. "May said she'd be back before five."

"Yes, and a lot could happen in these eight hours." Tony said, taking a seat on the couch, watching the crib like a hawk.

Stephen joined him on the couch, crossing his legs and reading the magazine.

Tony looked over at him. "You know, this is easier than I-" He stopped talking when he heard Peter move around.

Stephen looked up from the magazine, eyes darting at Peter when the little one moaned in his sleep.

The two sat frozen on the couch, watching the baby.

Peter simply turned his little head over to the left.

Stephen and Tony sighed in relief.

"From now on, we whisper." Stephen whispered.

"Okay." Tony said.

"You were saying?" Stephen looked at Tony.

"I was gonna say that this was gonna be easier than I thought, but never mind." He said.

"A baby is a big responsibility." Stephen said. "But it's one I'm willing to take."

Tony looked at him. "Don't get too ahead of yourself now Stephen." Tony whispered. "Remember he's not ours."

Stephen looked at him, putting down the magazine and standing up.

"Stephen?"

Stephen didn't say a word before leaving the room.

"Stephen!" Tony whispered. "Stepheeeeeeen! Wait! Come baaaaaaack!" He whispered. "Stephen!"

Sir

"Whisper mode Jarvis." Tony said.

Sorry Sir, but I'm here to remind you that you should take Peter's temperature as you set a reminder

"That's right." Tony said. He took out a magazine. "The magazine says to do it every however many hours." Tony said, getting out a thermometer. He gently lifted one of Peter's arms up and placed the thermometer under it. He check it after a few minutes. "Uh...hey Stephen." He whispered.

Nothing responded to him.

"Right. He's probably still mad at me." He said. "Clint has kids." He took out his phone and dialed Clint's number.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Barton a kid's temperature isn't suppose to be over a hundred four, right?" Tony asked.

"No. It's a hundred two." Clint answered.

"Oh, okay. Thanks."

"Yeah." Clint said. "WAIT! You have a kid-"

Tony hung up, he looked back at the stairway. "I really need Stephen here." He said. "Jarvis."

Yes sir?

"Can you please call Stephen down? Tell him Peter has a fever." Tony said.

Yes sir

Fast footsteps made their way to the living area.

"I came as soon as Jarvis told me." Stephen said. He put on some blue exam gloves and looked at Peter, feeling his little forehead. "God, he's burning up."

"Oh, no. What do I do?" Tony asked.

"First, calm down." Stephen said. "This isn't even the hard part."

"What's the hard part?" Tony asked.

Stephen looked at him. "Waking him up."

They both looked down at Peter.

"He looks so peaceful." Tony said. "I don't want to wake him up. You do it."

"What? I'm not gonna do it." Stephen said.

"You're the doctor. You do it."

"What? No." Stephen said. "I don't want to make him cry."

"If I wake him up, it'll make me seem like the bad parent." Tony said. "I don't that engraved on me."

"Oh, so you want it to be me?" Stephen asked.

"You're a wizard, you have all sort of powers to keep him entertained. I'm a man in a metal suit." Tony said. "Stephen just-"

The two gasped, freezing when Peter shifted in his sleep, little moans escaping him.

"Stephen."

"Fine." Stephen said. He carefully reached for the toddler. "Hey, Peter." He whispered, taking Peter's little hand in his and rubbing his thumb against the tiny palm of the toddler. "Peter, baby wake up." He said.

"Oh my god, he's dead!" Tony gasped.

Peter broke out into cries.

"Look what you did." Stephen said. "Loud mouth." He said, picking Peter up and holding him close. He placed Peter's little head again his chest with a hand on his nape and carefully bounced him in his arm. "Sh, I know. I know." Stephen said. "Did the mean metal man wake you up?"

Peter only continued crying.

"I know. He's a mean metal man." Stephen said, leaving with Peter, going who knows where.

"Peekaboo." Stephen said, playing with Peter as the toddler at on his stomach while he laid on his back on the couch.

Peter giggled.

"Where's the baby?" Stephen asked, putting his hands over his face.

Peter grew quiet.

"There he is." Stephen said, removing his hands from his face.

Peter giggled, clapping his little hands.

Stephen laughed, smiling at the little baby.

Peter reached for Stephen's face, feeling his nose while making gurgling noises.

Stephen smiled.

Peter began to grab at Stephen's facial hair with his little fingers, pulling on it, but not hard enough to hurt Stephen.

"Hey, Stephen." Tony called.

"Yes?" Stephen responded.

"I think there's a soul of something floating around in your library because I-"

"What?" Stephen looked at Tony. "Here, take care of him while I go check it out." He handed Tony Peter. "Cloak." Stephen said.

Levi came to his side.

The two left to go into Stephen's library.

Tony looked down at Peter. "Just you wait til Stephen seed us. He's gonna love this." He said.

Peter has a hand on his mouth, looking at Tony with his cute large eyes and giving him a toothless smile.

"I didn't see anything, Tony." Stephen said, coming back into the room, levitating with Levi's help. "But I did put a vanishing spell to keep anything dangerous out of the house. Which reminds me, we need to start baby proving the house if May wants us to be taking care of Pete-" He stopped once he realized Tony wasn't in the room. "Tony?" He asked.

"In the kitchen." Tony called.

Stephen went over to the kitchen. "Did you hear what I said?"

Tony had his back to him. "Yeah, I did. I think you're right." He was making himself a peanut butter jelly sandwich.

"Uh, where's Peter?" Stephen asked.

"He's right here with me." Tony said, turning around. He had Peter in a baby carrier in the front of his chest.

The toddler was happily asleep.

This melted Stephen's heart. "You have no idea how happy this makes my heart." Stephen said.

"I figured it'd be easier than carrying him around. Also, a baby will stay at peace and happy hearing the beating of his parent's hearts, you know because they can't really hear all that well, but they can feel vibrations and beats. So that way, he knows I'm close to him and that he's safe."

Stephen came up behind Tony and hugged him, kissing his cheek. "You're the best boyfriend ever." He said. "I love you."

Tony smiled. "I love you too."
