Apple of My Eye

Narrator's POV

"Stephen~" Stephen heard in his ears.

"Hm?" He asked, shifting in the bed, trying his best to open his eyes.

"Rise and shine." Tony said, opening the curtains.

"No." Stephen said, covering himself up with the blanket.

Tony turned to him, laughing. "Oh, come on." He said, going over to the bed and taking Stephen by the ankles, yanking him out of the sheets.

"Tonyyyy..." Stephen groaned. "Why are you up at this time?"

"The sun has risen!" Tony said.

"What what do you want me to do? Photosynthesize?" Stephen asked.

"Come on Mr. Grumpy." Tony said. "There's things to do."

"We gotta stop staying up so late." Stephen said, sitting up, rubbing his eyes.

"That was the last time, promise." Tony said.

"Good." Stephen said, wrapping himself in the sheets and standing up, going to the bathroom.

Tony followed him.

They grabbed their toothbrushes.

Stephen was still half asleep and falling asleep while he brushed.

Tony on the other hand, was doing well. He noticed Stephen's head slowly falling forward. "Stephen." He said.

Stephen's head perked up. "Hm?" He asked, looking around.

"Spit." Tony pointed at the sink.

"I swallowed it." Stephen said.

"What? Why?" Tony asked, wetting a towel and wiping the excess paste around Stephen's lips.

"It was minty." Stephen responded, sleepily.

Tony chuckled, shaking his head. He put Stephen's brush away and pushed him out of the bathroom. "You're not suppose to do that. It's bad for you."

"Tony, I'm really tired." Stephen said.

"I can see that." Tony said, sitting Stephen back on the bed. "Get dressed."

"Did you know most species of sea urchins live up to thirty years?" Stephen said.

"Really?" Tony said, looking around for some clothes.

"Yeah. Their mating season also takes place in the spring." Stephen said, yawning.

Tony chuckled. "Wow." He found a shirt.

"Yeah." Stephen said.

"Up." He told Stephen.

Stephen raised his arms up.

Tony placed a shirt over his head. "Put your arm here."

Stephen placed it in the head hole.

"No, here." Tony said.

Stephen did the same as before.

"Stephen, here." Tony said.

"I am putting it there." Stephen said.

"No." Tony said. "Right here." He took Stephen's hand and put it through one of the arm holes. Tony then pulled the shirt down, revealing a messy haired Stephen. He laughed. "You're cute." He kissed his forehead. "God, Stephen. You're burning up." He looked at Stephen, who's cheeks were red, but skin was pale. Tony smelled something familiar. "Stephen what is that?"

"What's what?" Stephen asked.

Tony sniffed around, the smell getting stronger. He found the source of the smell, a clear glass bottle between the bed and the nightstand. "Did you drink this?" He asked.

"Yeah, why?" Stephen asked.

"Stephen, this is Smirnoff." Tony said.

"No wonder it burned when I started drinking more of it." Stephen said.

"You drank the whole thing!?" Tony asked.

"I thought it was water." Stephen said. "It was dark, and I was thirsty."

"Is that why I heard you throwing up last night?" Tony asked.

"I threw up?" Stephen asked.

Tony shook his head. "You weren't kidding when you said you don't drink."

"I don't." Stephen said.

"I don't know if it's a good idea to go out now." Tony said.

"I'm cold." Stephen said, falling into Tony's arms. "My head hurts."

"Yeah, let's just stay in today." Tony said, wrapping his arms around Stephen, rubbing his back. "Let's get you back to bed." He pushed Stephen gently down on the bed.

"Mhm." Stephen laid back down, covering himself up in the sheets. "Will you lay down with me?" Stephen asked.

"Of course." Tony said, laying down next to Stephen. He felt Stephen gripping onto his shirt. Tony looked at Stephen.

"That way you won't leave me alone." Stephen said.

"Oh, Stephen." Tony smiled. He wrapped his arms around Stephen and drew him close. "I'll be right here."

Stephen closed his eyes.

"Tony."

Tony shifted in his sleep when he heard someone whisper his name.

"Tony!" The voice was a little louder now. "Tony wake up! Wake up!"

Tony felt someone shaking him. "Hm?" He asked. "What?" He asked squinting his tired eyes, seeing Stephen.

"Look." Stephen took his face in his hands and turned it to the window. "Nature." He said.

There was a some sort of hawk sitting at their window, eating a fish.

"Hm." Tony nodded. He looked at Stephen. "How're you feeling?" He asked, feeling Stephen's forehead.

"Better." Stephen said. "Kinda hungry though."

"Then let's get something to eat." Tony said.

"Hey Stephen." Tony said as held Stephen's hand while they sat on the edge of a drop off, staring at the ocean crashing underneath their feet.

The sun was shining its last rays of sunshine before hiding behind the ocean for the rest of the twenty four hour period.

"Hm?" Stephen asked, looking down at the waves under his swinging feet crash against the rock drop off.

"You know I love you?" Tony said.

Stephen looked up at him, smiling. "Of course I know." He said, kissing Tony's cheek. "As I love you."

"I'm so happy to have found my Stephen once again." Tony said, smiling.

"Well, technically I found you." Stephen said.

"Shut up." Tony laughed, drawing Stephen into a kiss. He pulled away shortly. "You haven't changed one bit." He said.

"Is that a bad thing?" Stephen asked.

"No, no." Tony said. "It's perfect. You're perfect."

"Oh, stop it." Stephen laughed, looking away, blushing.

"I'm serious." Tony said, taking Stephen by both hands. "I had been missing something from my life for so long..." Tony swallowed. "...and it turned out that he was living a few blocks away from me."

Stephen looked at him.

"Stephen, I..." Tony said. "I wouldn't die for you... I'd live for you."

Stephen only listened.

"You can fall off a building. You can fall off a tree, but the best way to fall...is to fall in love with you."

Stephen blinked in disbelief. "I'm shocked."

"I have ninety nine problems, but you're not one of them because I love you." Tony said.

Stephen smiled, blushed. "Thank you."

"You know what?" Tony asked. "Saying I love you is basic." Tony said. "You complete me, Stephen Vincent Strange. I haven't forgotten your middle name, I haven't forgotten your birthday. Hell, I still wear this bracelet you gave me the day you broke my heart." Tony said, showing Stephen the colorful bracelet around his wrist.

Stephen smiled, this brought him joy.

"I know that your favorite flower is a daisy, and that you rub your hands when they hurt more than usual. How every time I do something idiotic, you always hide your smile behind your tea cup or behind the book your reading. How a dark swirl of your hair falls perfectly down your face. How you lick your lips when you're nervous. How you hold on to your cloak when you're being defensive. How you mumble incantations when you're reading your century old books." Tony said. "When I'm with you, it's like a splash of refreshing water after a hot summer day. You took me by surprise. I was so alone, and I had nothing. But you, Stephen, have turned my whole life around. You've given me so much. And I want to tha-"

"Oh shut up." Stephen said with a big smile across his face. "You had me at the part about falling off a building." Stephen said.

Tony let out a relief chuckle. "Come here." He took Stephen's face in his hands and drew him in for a passionate kiss.

Stephen leaned into Tony, maybe a little too much. He pushed both of them down on the green grass.

They didn't care. All they cared at the moment was each other.

Hearts pounding fast and hard.

Their breaths becoming faster and heavier.

Stephen formed a portal behind them.

They fell right through, landing on the bed of the resort room.
